It's now safe to say Geena is a staple of French label Antinote, and not that his first two records were anything short of this third release, but Nicolas Molina has really hit the spot this time. It's a deep house EP that's true to the genre which rids itself of a cheap French house tag while still combining the genre's typical elements. The best example of Geena's fresh approach is heard in the muscle-tough drums of "I Gotta Wear Shades" that underpin hazy, dubbed-out atmospheres and de-tuned synths. "Lunar Substance" is a cool and melancholic in a Giegling kind of way while "Gamma Sector" is melodious, acid-tinged and feel-good. And if you like Levon Vincent's music head straight to "Niagara Galleries".
