RECOMMENDED
If this is your first encounter with Getting the Fear let's make one thing clear; that might be the best band name you'd never heard of before. Proper introductions might also be necessary, though. The English troupe was formed largely from former members of Southern Death Cult, losing Ian Astbury on vocals in exchange for Paul Hampshire, AKA Bee. Their legacy is brief, but as this collection proves, well worth a listen.
Signed to RCA in 1985, they would disband the following year, which seems far too soon. After all, occupying a space that can feel at the very cusp of where post punk had got to by this point, while still retaining real punk elements alongside a Clash-like air of new wave is always going to be pretty great.
