This time last year Giammarco Orsini was impressing us via a tidy twelve-inch on Elephant Moon that confidently sashayed between groovy deep house and spacey, far-sighted tech-jazz. There's a slightly different feel to the producer's latest EP for Partisan; a four-track set that aptly showcases the diversity of Orsini's influences and inspirations. Check, for example, the poignant chords and lilting deep space melodies that stretch out over the punchy machine drums and bubbly acid bass of "Dmorning" and the sub-bass-heavy tech-jack deepness of "The Regresser". Elsewhere you'll find rubbery retro-futurism (the elastic synth bass, dream house pianos, gentle acid lines and whistling chords of EP opener "Italia 90") and snappy, funk-fuelled acid/tech-house fusion ("Achimal"). Superb stuff all told.
