Gropina is a new project from an Amsterdam-based producer who is also the co-founder of this new label, Paesaggi Records. We suspect some Italian influence in this project, not just from the titles but also because of the charming sound embedded in these grooves, which at points nods to the legendary Roman label Vibraphone. "Cristallo Di Bismuto" is a perfect encapsulation of 80s tropes in a house setting, while "I Wish You Could Shelter Me" heads deeper into plush FM synth territory. "Oosterpark Laguna" is a cheery but laconic jam with some killer bass and airy flute tones, and "Mare Aperto" sends things off on a cheery house tip with a cheeky Nightmares On Wax sample thrown in for good measure.
