2016 is going to be Transmat's 30th anniversary. Derrick May's Detroit institution is going to celebrate in style with a bunch of new releases this year starting with this new one by Tokyo's Hiroshi Watanabe. The title track nails the Transmat sound perfectly in all its high tech and soulful glory. "The Leonids" is evocative with its emotive strings and epic piano melody; you could just imagine May's joy when he first heard this one. On the flip "Soul Tranitions" is just that; there's one razor sharp synth lead on this one, check it out. Finally "Aperture Synthesis" is the perfect combination of "Strings of Life" and "French Kiss" if we've ever heard it!
