The early '90s UK techno that Lee Purkis produced as In Sync was granted a timely reappraisal by Delsin earlier this summer, who reissued the classic 1992 12" Storm and opened its timeless beauty to a whole new generation of techno advocates. In Sync material from Purkis is now the subject of a double-pronged remix project from UK outpost Last Known Trajectory with this first volume featuring revisions from ERP, Ramjac and Maarten Van Der Vleuten. Wedged somewhere between the strands of electro and techno that bind Detroit, it's intriguing to see how Gerard Hanson plays with the classic "Storm" and successfully winds down the tempo without any concession to the original's captivating atmosphere. The under-rated Dutchman Van Der Vleuten excels equally, flushing his effort with ever glistening layers that are simply wonderful in full flight.
