The Shir Khan curated Black Jukebox series rarely disappoints, with the DJ/producer wisely choosing to showcase party-starting cuts that blur the boundaries between original production, remixes and re-edits. There's barely a duffer in sight here, with Illyus and Barrientos delivering a pair of bumpin', party-hearty cuts that recall the halcyon days of disco-sampling New York house. Over on the A-side, James Jackson and Siege steal the show by brilliantly chopping and beefing up a much-loved disco-funk staple (we'd get spanked if we gave away the source material) while Tiptoes opts for a looser and groovier interpretation of a bumpin' soul cut (the wonderful "Bird Story").
