If you've always wanted to dive into Jean-Michel Jarre's discography but don't know where to start, this mid-price compendium of classic albums could come in handy. It gathers together five of his most celebrated albums, beginning with 1981's Magnetic Fields - a particularly abstract and ambient affair by his usual melodious standards - and ending with 1990's Waiting For Cousteau, a cheerful and largely forthright affair influenced by both contemporaneous dance music and Caribbean calypso music. In between, you'll find the synth-pop and electro flavours of 1986's Rendez-Vous, and 1988 set Revolutions, which was partly inspired by industrial music. While the latter doesn't exactly sound like Cabaret Voltaire or Throbbing Gristle, you can certainly tell that the legendary French synthesizer composer had been listening to their albums.
