Given that fresh source material for disco re-edits is becoming even harder to find, it's perhaps unsurprising that more producers are turning to the hard-to-define world of Balearica for inspiration. The Balearic Blah Blah series - helmed by the long-standing producer under the KBE alias - is one of the best in this regard. Here, he variously touches on (and touches up) some laidback West Coast stoner rock (the excellent "Soulwoman"), folksy, semi-acoustic Brazilian samba-rock ("Dinopino"), and frankly bizarre, impressively obscure Balearic disco ("Circusanimali"). Most impressive of all, though, is the urgent hustle of the superb Police rework "Einzweipolizei". Even Sting can't spoil this one, which sounds like prototype dub disco.
