It really doesn't matter if you've never even visited New York during the city's notoriously hot summers. Michelle, a collective currently making tidal waves in the Big Apple's dancefloor pop scene, are apparently determined to make us feel like we've lived the experience many times over. 'The Bottom', which the crew's celebrated label, Transgressive, used to introduce them in spring this year, might best make their case. It's dripping in laidback synth funk groove, overlaid with breathy R&B vocals and glittering disco melodies. There's a real sense of that euphoria we feel when letting go to music, in a sexy hedonistic way, but also a deeply personal side to the record. It's a rare pop album that hits both party score and lyrical highs, but you can add this to the list for sure.
