Lydspor One & Two: Blue TB7 Series CD

In 2015, two years before his tragic death, Finnish experimentalist Mika Vainio headed to the Moog Sound Lab to record some music using its rare Moog Modular 55 System prototype. Here, those recordings - two 20-minute workouts that are as dark, alluring and intoxicating as anything he ever produced - are released for the first time. Part One is the more rhythmic of the two, with the former Pan Sonic man smothering a hypnotic modular rhythm in buzzing electronic tones and growling bass hits before allowing the track to morph into a pitch-black ambient sound soup. This creepy, droning intensity is explored further on "Part 2", which is as unsettling and otherworldly as they come.
