It's been four years since we last had a Mikal Cronin record, "MCIII", and that's a pretty long time in garage rock when you consider how many collaborations and incestuous studio sessions that happen in the scene on a monthly basis. Isolation clearly worked, as "Seeker" is a mature follow up to the last episode. It's reflective and restrained rather than raucous, although "I've Got Reason" is one case where gritty guitars are wielded with intent. No bad thing, the record reveals another side to an artist we never thought of as 2D, taking his music to new levels of potency rather than coming across as someone holding back, or being held back.
