Kim Rapatti is Helsinki's techno pioneer alongside Mika Vainio and the rest of the Sahko crew, but you may have heard of him under the number of different aliases that he goes by; Mono Junk, Detroit Diesel, and Melody Boy 2000 are the monikers that have received the most success over the years, but Kim has just been doing his thing all along. He has revived his DUM label as of late, choosing to reissue plenty of material from the mid-1990s that sounds as fresh as this morning's bread. The A side features two Mono Junk monsters, the deep and explorative "A..." alongside the nastier, more aggressive 303 licks of "Another Acid". Over on the flip, he offers two cuts from 1996 under his real name, the first "Untitled (Mood EP A1)" is a deranged deep house chugger, and the second "Untitled (Mood EP A2)" goes down the Detroit route with the aid of bleeped-out harmonics and a mechanical percussion swing. Killers, the lot of 'em.
