On The Corner's latest inspired curiosity is an electronic/acoustic fusion treat. The project features electronic musicians Santuri, Soundthread and OtC re-modelling acoustic recordings of Uganda's Mugwisa International Xylophone group. These tracks will see the light of day later this year; first, a trio of tracks gets given the remix treatment. First, Sam Jones delivers an undulating, Afrobeat-influenced interpretation of "Jinja Pearls", before Alejandro Mosso laces sweet, evocative, Ugandan instrumentation over rolling electronic house beats on his version of "Mazongoto Woods". Finally, Bristol-based producer Ishmael steals the show with a wobbly, skewed, off-kilter house revision of "The Munana Of Mugwisa", where fluid xylophones rub shoulders with pulsating synth bass and glassy-eyed electronic stabs.
