1. | "Midnite Special" (Mrk Dynamite dub) |
Given that last year's first Parkway Rhythm 12" was such a roaring success, it's little surprise to see Mark Seven's homage to dubbed-out New York electrofunk and proto-house return for a second outing. "Midnight Special" is, if anything, even more authentic-sounding than "Working Girl". Here, the acclaimed digger delivers three contrasting versions. The "Original Dub" sounds like a long lost Serious Intention/Paul Simpson production, while the "Quiet Storm Dub" wanders off on a smooth, Loose Ends-meets-Prince electrofunk tip. The MRK Dynamite Dub that completes the package is, arguably, the best of the three, sounding like a cross between early '80s NYC proto-garage and Nu Groove era deep house. The whole package is ace, basically.
