Parilaiment-Funkadelic's 1978 "anti-tour", in which they deliberately played very small venues and proudly explained to journalists how much money they were losing, has become the stuff of legend. This three-disc set, featuring an entire, unedited recording of their show at the Capitol Theatre in Passiac, New Jersey, offers a glimpse of what the lucky few who got to attend tour dates witnessed. Full of extended P-funk wig-outs, extended interpretations of familiar hits and genuinely thrilling performances, it's as atmospheric and exciting as you'd expect. George Clinton and company were known to be superb live performers, and this just confirms it. An essential purchase for any P-funk fan.
