Bristol artist Ratman was Alan Richards, a garage producer who put out just a couple of tunes back in the mid-nineties. City Road has somehow unearthed a couple of them that were made around the turn of the millennium when UKG was really starting to take off. The opener here is a remix for a major that was never actually put out. It takes the fantastic lead sample and places it well within a nice swinging 2-step beat with crisp drums and sympathetic synths to make for a superbly soulful sound. The flip is a horn led a swaggering gem full of sun.
