The Death Of Rave continues its fine line of form with another debutant, a shadowy electronic outsider who goes by the name of Rian Treanor. Hailing from the North, Treanor has worked with Mark Fell and counts Mumdance among his fans, and he can sure put together a sublime concoction of sounds and moods. "Track 1", for example, is a broken, stop-start nu-garage lick boasting an odd but musical collection of stutter bleeps, and "Track 2" develops those motives into a more concrete groove that verges on house. On the flip, "Track 3" is heavier on the low-ends but still dragging its bleeps along with it, while "Track 4" goes for the ominous, forming fresh and daring grime hybrid with the help of some truly aquatic synths. Check it, it's certainly one for those craving something a little different in the dance.
