Robert Hood's Minimal Nation is one of those landmark techno relays that endures through the ages. It is essential listening for anyone at any stage of their love affair with techno and as a blueprint for stripped back sounds it has has rarely been bettered. It came in 1994, yet still sounds ahead of its time 27 years later. The way the Detroit maestro bends his synths, programmes his drums and coaxes so much out of so little is sublime. The funk throughout is impossible to ignore and the toughness of the grooves means they always stand out.
