By any standards, Samii's debut EP is extremely impressive. The previously unheard artist wrote and performed the songs herself, with production assistance and some musical contributions from 2000 Black core crew members Dego, Mr Mensah, Matt Lord and Kaidi Tatham. The result is a string of impressive songs that combine Samii's distinctive take on soul with elements of jazz-funk (see sublime opener 'Wake Me Out'), space funk (the bubbly, synth-laden excellence of 'Spaced Out Summer Tours & Back Again'), broken beat (the bustling, percussive, bass-heavy shuffle of 'For Too Long') and stripped-back, early '80s Brit-funk (weighty dancefloor workout 'Here to Luv Myself').
