Albeit subtly, SFV acid aka Zane Reynolds has been marketing his strain of acid house and techno for just about ten years now and, while he may not always be one of the ones to get name-dropped, the man can sure conjure up some fine-ass dance beats. In fact, it's no surprise that he's collaborated with the likes of Legowelt, another untouched master of the category. Petty Clubber marks Third Try's third release to date; "125 BPM At Night", manifested across three different versions, make for the perfect opening tunes on this EP, and each offer a different shade of of 303-laden fun to the listener, dancer or DJ. The B-side opens with the glitchy, minimalistic bumps of "Petty Clubber" itself, which is remixed by Secret Circuit, SFV and Suzanne Kraft into a wilder, bouncier party groove. "Zen Fits" brings the festivities to a close with a beautifully broken IDM tool that recalls AFX at his warmest. What a lovely entry into this week's picks!
