If you keep an ear to BBC 6 Music, or UK indie culture in general, Hebden Bridge will hardly be a stranger. The West Yorkshire town has a big reputation for all things alternative, and is home to The Trades Club. Despite its size and worn aesthetic - or perhaps because of - the venue has cemented a firm reputation as one of the rooms of choice for rising bands and established cult heroes alike.
This is Snapped Ankles playing in that building on 12th October 2019, album title a reference to the distance between backroom pool table and stage. As per with the band in question, tracks break from the blocks with a distorted, punkish, psychedelic fervour, synths and guitars ablaze. Hits such as 'I Want My Minutes Back' and 'Letter From Hampi Mountain' painting the most vividly upbeat and intensely groove-laden picture of what the gig was probably like.
