Lanquidity vinyl

Although Lanquidity is perhaps one of the great Sun Ra's most well-known pieces of music, it is certainly not one of his early ones. In fact, by 1978, the mystical space wizard from Birmingham, Alabama, had transformed his earlier, more be-bop-leaning sound into a much freer, more experimental place where he could truly express his vision of the world and of the music that characterised it. Philly Jazz are providing us with the latest reissue, exactly as it first appeared way back when. "Lanquidity" is still sounding as moody and inimitable as when it first came out, giving jazz a new and interesting place to play in - namely a more dance-led environment. However, there is little more honour that we can give to this album. It should be heard, not read. Buy yourself a copy if you haven't so already. Unmissable, pioneering stuff from the master.
