Since slipping out in super-limited quantities way back in 1995, Takeshi 'Takecha' Fukushima's King of Deep EP has become something of an in-demand item. Listening to this timely reissue, it's easy to see why. It offers a slightly more U.S-centric take on the melodious Japanese deep house sound famously developed by Soichi Terada and his Far East Recording contemporaries. "Kind of Deep" is luscious, melodious and floor-friendly, while "Climax Doc" wraps darting synth work and mutilated vocal samples around a deliciously bumping rhythm track. Arguably best of all, though, is the fluid, low-end bounce and hazy chords of locked-in groover "I Forgot What Track Name Is".
