The Black Orpheus imprint kicked off late last year with a smacking EP of off-kilter house and tech-ridden breaks from the young Alphonse, and we've been eagerly awaiting a follow-up from the label. Not to be confused with the Dutch garage rock band of the same name, The Comedown is a mysterious new talent that has a certain knack for making some killer techno bangers fit for the sweatiest of basement dancefloors. "Kokie's Place" charges its way through the groove with a cascade of kick drums that unleash deep, echoing melodies and synth abstractions spewing from all corners; the remix from The Realtor manages to infuse even more of a swing into an already sultry arrangement, making these two a pair of ultra-effective DJ weapons for instant deployment.
