Given the depth and size of producer Arthur 'Duke' Reid's archives, we shouldn't be surprised by the high volume of reissues we've seen of late. Like many others that have hit record stores of late, this "45" offers up two classics from the rocksteady era. First up is The Paragons' 'Only a Smile', initially a 1967 B-side that sees the vocal combo the Paragons singing sweetly, soulfully and slickly over a particularly languid rocksteady riddim from Reid's regular studio band, Tommy McCook and the Supersonics. They also feature on The Soul Lads' 'I'm Yours Forever', another B-side - this time from 1968 - that's a touch more up-tempo and dancefloor ready thanks to a jaunty, bass-heavy groove from McCook and company.
