Some Chicago meets Mancunia action on the Infrasonics imprint as Ike Release and xxxy team up once again on the London label's well received split release 12" series. With a trajectory in 2011 that's been on the constant ascendance, asking xxxy to return was a bit of a no brainer, and the Mancunian seems more than a bit inspired by the dynamic juke rhythms currently spurting out of Chicago right now on "Body Movin". Based around the titular vocal hook, xxxy lays down an increasingly pressurised flex of tumbling toms, which deviates into a jagged filtered under section quite brilliantly. "Swing Those Hips" centres around the rhythmic interplay between stabbing chords and dextrous bass squiggles, whilst the swinging percussion charms in the way it almost veers off key throughout. Ike Release mans the B Side with aplomb, serving two tracks that truly whet appetites for his forthcoming long player! "Don't Know" sends the eponymous vocal hook cannoning around the nether regions of a stripped down arrangement, with the snap and pop of percussion smartly giving way midpoint only to arise, in sync with a dizzying low end oscillation. "Outrun" brings the sex, splaying ecstatic vocal cooing over a Mid West meets Mid European house grind. Supple stuff from the Infrasonics team.
