Review: From the grave, Prince is serving up a banger just in time for Christmas fun this year in the form of a one-sided 12" on Warner. It found him working with his trusty New Power Generation and features the 'damn near 10 min' mix of the song 'Gett Off' which is sure to fire up any dancefloor. It was originally a single - also served up as a one-sider - to promote Prince's new band with a cover that boldly declared that "Nothing can stop Prince and the New Power Generation" and was only issued on 1500 copies, so this is a great treat for fans to own all these years later.

Review: Following their illustrious return to form via the fantastic sixth full-length This Is Why at the start of 2023, pop-punk/rock phenomenon Paramore are to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their self-titled fourth LP with a tangerine double vinyl reissue (likely inspired by frontwoman Hayley Williams' iconic dye-job of choice). Originally released in 2013, rendering this decade celebration a tad late, the album was the first from the group following the departure of Josh and Zac Farro (with the latter eventually re-joining in 2016) and sonically marked their first turn away from their classification as emo-tinged pop-punks and towards the full scale powerpop powerhouse they would morphed into, with both the Grammy award-winning 'Ain't It Fun' and 'Still Into You' being certified double platinum since release.

Review: Pink Floyd's early era is celebrated on this double LP set, Transmissions, It was a time when they recorded some well regarded sessions for FM radio broadcast and was around legendary albums including A Saucerful Of Secrets - the swansong of the increasingly ill Syd Barrett, replaced by David Gilmour during its making - Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. Plenty of highlights for fans old and new can be found here, with raw and lo-fi recordings of tunes like 'Daybreak' next to heady melodies and acoustic steaming on the much more organic and spring-day like 'Nightmare (Cymbaline)'. It all comes sounding great across two limited edition slabs of clear vinyl.

Review: Divisive wouldn't even come close to describing Panic! At The Disco's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. For some, even the band's name was enough to put them off, for others, this record arrived riding on the tail end of the second emo wave, which in itself may have been too little too late (or too much?) to stand any chance of saving the genre from becoming a parody of itself.

Review: Few would have guessed when 'All We Know Is Falling' first made its presence felt way back in 2005 that this charmingly guileless debut would be the first step for this bunch of God-fearing Tennessee teenagers to something approaching global domination, but ten years on, the proof is perhaps in that these timelessly taut, angular pop-rock songs still sound zesty and invigorating as they did back in the days of overlong sideways fringes. Review: There's a good chance the name Misha Panfilov doesn't mean that much to you. Yet. The Estonian producer and musician is indicative of the thriving Tallinn music scene, and has worked with the liked of US maestro Shawn Lee, and also released work as Misha Panfilov Sound Combo. Despite those exceptional outings, though, Penza Penza might be the artist's finest project of the lot, with Neanderthal Rock the best outing to date.
Incredibly detailed, almost cacophonous stuff, to put it mildly, what's here is a trippy, psychedelic ride through the furthest reaches of rock 'n' roll, touches of folk, shoegaze, jazz, and downtempo electronic pop ensuring things rarely remain the same for very long on a full play through. Overall, though, the feeling here is one that has at least a foot stood in the 1960s, and another in the vast expanse of space itself.
