Review: The Hornin Sounds label invites you to sink deep into a reggae vibe on this superlative 7" from Vin Gordon. Though freshly mastered, the sis actually built on an old instrumental that was dug out of some archives. It was originally played by Fazal Prendergast alongside The High Times Players at the legendary Channel One studio in 1982. Scientist mixed it at King Tubby studio meaning its credentials are unquestionable. Here it is finished with some deadly and devastating trombone from 'Don D Junior.'

Review: If you're reading this you will already be familiar with Jamaican rocksteady and reggae vocal trio The Heptones and their very many lovely tunes. This one with Woodfield Road All Stars is as smooth as they come. 'Love Has Got A Hold Of Me' has slow motion grooves and lazy drums with the most gently persuasive acoustic riffs next to soul drenched and warm vocals. On the flipside is 'Breezin' Up Brentford Road' which has some lovely hammond organ vibes and an evn more laid back swagger to it.

Review: Pennsylvanian based roots reggae band House Of Assembly dropped their last ever single in 1988 and this is it. The band was formed din Kingston, Jamaican and made up of Norman Bailey, Marc Campbell, Claver Campbell and Louis Putman, all of whom bonded over a love of dub and reggae before moving to the US. They made one album in the 80s became well known on the local scene. This single is one of their most well loved tunes with its stuttering rhythm and crashing hits as well as hints of 80s disco production. The rock-apella and dub version take it in great new directions, too.
