Review: Damu The Fudgemunk has enlisted the help of vocalist Blu to bring "Ground & Water" to life. Like all his albums, it is story telling based with superbly crisp production from the Washington DC man, backed with sweet flowing, tight rhymes from the Los Angeles rapper. The mood is often introspective and personal, with plenty of lyrical depth throughout. Faith, guilt, spirituality, humility and plenty more all come up on these thoughtful raps. Musically there is vital variation with some harder hitting jams next to the more blissed out and deep cut grooves.

The latest edition, which boasts a swathe of summer 2021 anthems in waiting, naturally contains some genuinely killer house and disco fodder. Picking highlights is tough given the suitably sizable track listing, but our current favourites include the swirling disco-house pump of 'Mvinline' by Boyz Noize, the gospel piano-house rush of Floorplan's 'Holy Ghost', the old school house goodness of Mike Dunn's 'Strut Cho Funky Stuff', the excitable, sweat-soaked Afro-house heaviness of 'Muvaland' by Cakes De Killa x Proper Villains and the soulful house warmth of Sandy Rivera's fine remix of Snips' 'Say It'.

Review: Genre-straddling, definition defying, stylistically restless. We can think of a few ways to try and articulate artists that escape the fateful pigeonhole of music criticism. But it's far, far easier just to point people in the direction of Wet Tuna. Dubby, psychedelic, informed by disco, space rock, atmospheric ambient and avant electronics, suffice to say their latest is exactly the sort of party you want to be at. Expect the unexpected, then, guest appearances include Benoit Chaput of L'oi de Cravan (thanks for the poetry), the plugged-in violin of Samara Lubelski, and Woodsist vocalist Jeremy Earl, adding yet more layers to unravel and depths to explore. A wild trip into sonic other-worlds, the most recent reason to fall in love with the Feral Child label is one you won't forget in a hurry.
