New Body Rhumba (7:21)
Review: There was naturally a lot of excitement when James Murphy and company dropped 'New Body Rhumba' digitally in the summer of 2022. The track, which is the New York punk-funk outfit's first new music for over five years, was written and recorded for the soundtrack of hyped movie 'White Noise'. The track finally coming to vinyl is great news, not least because it feels like 'prime' LCD Soundsystem from the period in the early-to-mid 2000s when Murphy and his regular collaborators could do no wrong. All the familiar elements are present and correct - think crunchy, fuzzy punk guitar licks, funky no-wave drums, cowbells, vintage electronics and lead vocals from Murphy whose lyrics offer a weary analysis of 21st century life. In a word: essential!

Bye Bye Bayou (acappella version)
Review: LCD Soundsystem's version of 'Bye Bye Bayou' stunningly re-introduces the world to this great band. The track is a cover of an Alan Vega song from his 1981 debut album, and will not feature on the forthcoming LCD album. Available now on DFA, 'Bye Bye Bayou' is 8+ minutes of classic LCD Soundsystem; deep soulful grooves that will appeal to fans and non-fans alike and will whet the appetite for all those dying for LCD's upcoming third album to be released in March 2010.

Review: After the indie discoisms of "Drunk Girls", LCD Soundsystem have plucked the gorgeous "I Can Change" from their superlative third album for single duties. The gloriously 80s synth overtones of the original are left intact on the accompanying remix and dub version from Aussie duo Stereogamus.

Review: Anyone lucky enough to have caught James Murphy and his entourage of highly talented musical friends live will attest that it's here LCD Soundsystem truly excel. And whilst this London Sessions album recorded in the aftermath of such a performance at last year's Glastonbury does not replicate such an elation filling experience, the chance to hear some of the band's best tracks recorded live makes this worth investigating. It's basically a showcase for how tight a group of musicians Gavin Russom, Pat Mahoney and Nancy Whang are, most notably on "Get Innocuous" where Russom really goes to town on the synths and "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House" which gets embellished with a liberal dose of tightness tautness and spikiness. The band has such an all encompassing back catalogue that you could spend all day dissecting which tracks they should have included here, and it's a mark of the aforementioned tightness that even the somewhat risible "Drunk Girls" sounds markedly improved here.

Yeah (Crass version)
Yeah (Pretentious version)
Review: Those fans hankering for more stuffy nosed opining from James Murphy and his rotating assembly of LCD Soundsystem musicians will have to suffice with the odd reissue of their classics from DFA Records. Originally released in 2004, Yeah was, along with Beat Connection, the sort of 12" that captured perfectly the joy of seeing LCD Soundsystem play live; a heaving organic mass of thick bass lines, clomping percussion and gut punching disco punk beats and of course Murphy's disaffected vocals that seemed to spring forth from the wax with nervous, sweaty energy. Both the Crass and Nervous versions still sound immense nearly a decade later and this new pressing comes in the same classy printed sleeve and plastic wrapping of the DFA release done in conjunction with Trevor Jackson's Output .

I Used To (Dixon retouch) (7:02)
Pulse (v1) (10:05)
Review: Innervisions co-founder and tech-house behemoth Dixon is the latest remixer to get his hands on a track from LCD Soundsystem's 2017 album, American Dream. His version of "I Used To" is closer in feel to James Murphy and company's original version than his own grandiose and melodious tech-house epics, though the Berlin producer's decision to include some seriously epic breakdowns and build-ups suggests that the mix could not only land with his audience, but become something of an anthem in clubs around the globe. Arguably even better is flipside bonus cut "Pulse (V1)", a wonderfully melodious and atmospheric instrumental that sounds like it was inspired by NYC minimalists such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass.

Oh Baby (Lovefingers remix) (8:13)
Oh Baby (Lovefingers dub) (7:48)
Review: A year or so on from the release of American Dream, LCD Soundsystem's much-hyped comeback album, James Murphy has decided to commission a swathe of fresh remixes. The first mixes to land come from ESP Institute boss and former NYC dweller Lovefingers. He brilliantly plays around with "Oh Baby", first serving up a full vocal version drenched in dub delay and mind-altering effects that makes much of selected lyrical phrases, chugging drums, bubbly electronic motifs and the original's familiar piano refrain. Turn to the flip for a largely vocal-free dub that's even more trippy and far-out in tone, with the now familiar piano riff taking pride of place throughout.

45.33 (Theo Parrish Space Cadet remix)
Review: Having launched their White Out series of limited reissues with the excellent NDF 12", DFA turn to label figureheads LCD Soundsystem and the high profile remixes that followed their 45:33 release for Nike. The stone cold classic remix from Prince Language would have been the Juno choice for inclusion here, but you can't argue with DFA's decision to go with the reworks by two masters of the art in Theo Parrish and Pilooski. Still played on the regular by Benji B down at Deviation, Theo Parrish's self styled "Space Cadet" ten minute plus remix sounds as far out as it did back in 2009 and is a perfect example of the Sound Signature boss's talent for going places few others would consider - proper Sun Ra business! Complementing this, Cedric Pilooski does robot funk in a manner that compatriots Daft Punk have seemingly forgotten about completely.
