Seal (Deluxe Edition)
Cat: 060349 7826384. Rel: 14 Jun 24

Pop
Review: Seal's self-titled debut album, especially in its deluxe reissue, showcases a diverse range of influences from soul and R&B to dance and even hints of country. While standout tracks like 'Killer' and 'Crazy' remain timeless dance floor classics, other songs have aged quite well. The production, helmed by Trevor Horn, still stands out today, with tracks like 'Whirlpool' displaying layers of gospel and soul. The deluxe edition offers a glimpse into the late '80s and early '90s dance and offers some great bonus material. Seal's debut album remains a compelling listen, especially for those interested in exploring the musical landscape of the early '90s.

Review: Many fans feel that Feats Don't Fail Me Now stands as the pinnacle in Little Feat's career, showing their unparalleled blend of funk, rock, and jazz influences. The album captures the electrifying energy of their live performances while maintaining a cohesive sound from start to finish. Tracks like 'Rock & Roll Doctor' and 'Oh, Atlanta' exemplify the band's playful yet funky attitude, while Skin It Back demonstrates their tight musicianship and jazzy funk groove. Lowell George's bluesy slide guitar work shines on songs like Down the Road and the gem Spanish Moon, which features an irresistible brass section adding to its dynamic excitement. The title track, 'Feats Don't Fail Me Now,' is a great example at their spontaneous performance style. George and Payne's 'The Fan' expands the band's horizons with its jazzy time signature and spirited instrumentation. The album's highlight is the 10-minute medley of 'Cold, Cold, Cold' and 'Tripe Face Boogie,' which effortlessly blends slow funk with energetic shuffle and features captivating instrumental sections dominated by Bill Payne's jazzy piano. Feats Don't Fail Me Now represents the moment when everything came together for Little Feat, resulting in an album of mirthful, enchanting, and exuberant music that maintains a high level of integrity throughout.

Decades after he died, pioneering rapper Christopher Wallace aka Biggie aka B.I.G remains a hip hop giant, not least for us here at Juno HQ. He had the flow, the character, the lyrics, and showed all of it on his masterclass album The Notorious BIG. It is now getting a well deserved reissue on double vinyl, with all the original tunes included. There are uber-hits like the ubiquitous 'Juicy', tracks that make astute social commentaries about the black experience such as 'Everyday Struggle' and then some darn right killer grooves like 'One More Chance' and 'Big Poppa.' RIP to the greatest to ever do it.

With hits like 'I'm Every Woman' and 'Life is a Dance,' it solidified Khan's status as a powerhouse in the realms of funk, r&b, and disco. This deluxe edition has newly remastered tracks, rare bonus content, and further insights into Khan's artistic journey. Review: Rhino recently acquired the worldwide rights to The Beat's catalogue, and is marking the beginning of this exciting partnership with the release of an expanded version of the influential ska group's 1980 debut, I Just Can't Stop It. A fixture of ska and two-tone in their day, The Beat laid down an infectious toe-tapper with I Just Can't Stop It, imbuing the natural compulsion to dance with the hidden materiality of class struggle; with deeply socially charged lyrics skirting over the jubilant instrumental likes of 'Best Friend', 'Mirror In The Bathroom' and 'Twist And Crawl', to contrasting but convincing effect. This acclaimed fixture of British ska comes reissued as a 2-LP set on magenta vinyl, following up the RSD crystal clear edition released earlier in 2023.

Review: The ninth studio album by the Grateful Dead, Terrapin Station came after a two-year hiatus by the band, who afterward returned to live touring and high-concept jazz-rocking. Something of an achievement in defining the more mathematic elements of prog at the time, several of the songs heard across the album deal in time signatures less common to the Westernized ear, with perhaps the most enduring of them all, 'Estimated Prophet', having been recorded in septuple time. Perhaps mirroring this sense of rhythmic ambition verging on megalomaniac grandeur, the album, seemingly springing forth from this central song, deals throughout with themes of false-prophetic grandiosity - cultic self-aggrandisement - that seemed to emanate from California and the West Coast at the time, especially in the immediate aftermath of the counterculture and in the more musical annals of history in the then-unfurling latter half of the 20th Century.

Review: Alive She Cried is The Doors' electrifying second live album from 1983, available for the first time on vinyl since its original release. The first live album to be released following the band's explosion in popularity after their incendiary song 'The End' was lucky enough to be featured in the timeless Ford-Coppola movie Apocalypse Now, Elektra Records were more than compelled to pursue the release of more Doors material; this one homes in on various concerts between 1968-70, spanning shows performed in New York, Boston, Detroit, LA and Copenhagen. This 40th anniversary reissue is on emerald vinyl and features 'Light My Fire (including Graveyard Poem)', 'Moonlight Drive', and 'Love Me Two Times', among other Doors hits and favourites.

Review: Years before anyone had ever heard of CBGB, Max's was *the* place in New York City to see cutting-edge rock acts (and mingle with Manhattan scenesters). Near the top of that list was The Velvet Underground, whose final show with bandleader Lou Reed (until a brief 90s reunion) is documented on the live album Live At Max's Kansas City. The quartet mixed such older favorites as 'I'll Be Your Mirror,' 'Femme Fatale' and 'I'm Waiting For The Man', with new songs like 'Sweet Jane' and 'New Age' from their soon-to-be-released Loaded, with plenty of venue atmosphere heard throughout (there is an audible conversation in which Jim Carroll hits up an audience member for pills). Rhino's Expanded & Remastered Edition of the seminal collection includes both sets performed by band that night in their entirety.

Alive Cooper's 1971 classic Killer was his fourth studio album during a truly unstoppable period for the Detroit rocker. He clocked up consecutive platinum-selling albums as well as five Top 40 hits such 'I'm Eighteen,' 'School's Out' and 'No More Mr. Nice Guy.' This reissue comes alongside a reissue of the 1972 album School's Out and has been newly remastered with the addition of rare recordings and previously unreleased live performances. This one topped out at #21 on the Billboard albums chart and featured hit singles such as 'Under My Wheels' and 'Be My Lover' as well as a prog-rock-inspired epic in the shape of 'Halo Of Flies.'

Review: Nitin Sawhney is an award winning writer, composer and producer and this return to the album format marks his most commercial work to date. It is a record that he clearly had fun making as it is packed with a host of top collaborations with his friends and peers. He says the album is a love letter to who we all are and in accompanying notes he goes into how the world is now so full of opinions and strong judgements that we are prone to forget the human connection between us all. "With this album, I'm inviting some of my favourite international friends and artists into a celebration of their own identities in a single place of sonic safety and honesty. I am working and collaborating with artists who are proud of who they are and whose work is defined by that pride." The resulting sonic collage is a fine cultural mix and great reminder of some important values.

Review: Five decades on and Devo are rightly recognised as a cultural treasure from the early days of US new wave, but even by the time they released their Brian Eno-produced debut album in 1978 they were five years in and way ahead of the curve. As the band reflect on half a century at the cutting edge, Rhino have pulled together an expansive retrospective which comes in many different iterations. This particular edition, pressed on red and blue double vinyl, gathers together 25 classic and lesser known cuts from the band's considerable archives, housed with stunning artwork in a gatefold sleeve and is sure to become a collectors' item.

Review: Along with possibly King Crimson, there's few pioneering progressive rock acts today who still garner the same reverence, credence or demand a mention in any topical conversation as London-based legends Yes. The absurdly titled Yessingles (echoing the 1973 live album Yessongs) does precisely what it says on the tin with a first time ever vinyl compilation of the band's A-side singles, primarily collected from their third (real first) LP The Yes Album onwards, with choice cuts from Fragile, Close To The Edge, Relayer, Drama and more. Surely, the inclusion of iconic classics such as 'Roundabout' and 'Starship Trooper: Life Seeker', are worth the price of admission alone?

Review: It's hard to believe there was a time when a band as culturally important as The Doors were still trying to make it, but even after their debut album came out in January 1967 there was a brief patch where they were still little known outside their stomping ground in LA. A couple of months later, they held a three-night stint at The Matrix in San Francisco playing to threadbare crowds, but luckily the sound engineer had the foresight to properly mic up and capture all of the performances and the recordings have since become a massive part of the band's legacy. As well as the classic tracks from the first album, and a few of their later hits, there are a generous dose of covers and obscurities which get a first-time airing thanks to this new expanded and authoritative five-LP edition, with the generous inclusion of an extra 7" with a hidden gem that will blow the minds of lifelong ardent fans, of which there are more than a few.

Review: Faith Evans released her Keep The Faith album, one of the three platinum-certified records she put out between 1995 and 2001, just 12 months after losing her then-husband Notorious BIG. It arrived on Bad Boy Records and was almost entirely written and produced by Evans herself. It was a highlight of the 90s soul-pop era with top ten singles including 'All Night Long' and 'Love Like This.' Evans brought plenty of raw pain to her vocal deliveries even though on the surface the commercial r&b tunes are easy to access. It's a heartfelt homage to her late husband that is just as touching today.

Review: Following on from the release of their Funky Divas album, which was a true favourite of the 1990s, back in April, seminal girl group En Vogue now have their best bits assembled on Now Playing, a new album via Rhino. The group was the brainchild of Oakland-based songwriter-producer duo Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy and was noted for having all four members taking turns to be the lead singers. Their lush harmonies resonate to this day and these original recordings remind of their chart-topping, MTV-ruling glory. They are a magical bend of seductive, soulful vocals with funky beats and plenty of attitude. All hail En Vogue!

Review: The music of Joni Mitchell will never go out of fashion and so it is that much of it is in the middle of a big reissue run. Joni's voice and songwriting has rarely ever been topped by anyone in any genre, let alone the folk and Americana worlds she is best known in. Song To A Seagull is one of many long player testaments to that and was a remarkable debut in 1968 which soon marked her out in a class of one. The album is known for having been mixing poorly the first time around so has been sharpened up for this reissue meaning both sides of the record - labeled 'I Came to the City' and 'Out of the City and Down to the Seaside' - sound superb.

Review: A whole host of superb Joni Mitchell albums are in the process of being reissued and Clouds is one of them. For many, this is one of the best LPs Joni ever recorded and the stats back that up - it is BPI certified gold and it also won a Grammy in 1969 for Best Folk Performance. Join went on to win another nine such awards after Clouds, which came on May 1, 1969 and features the iconic self-portrait on its cover. Alongside one of Joni's best-known songs on 'Both Sides, Now,' other gems included are the delightful 'Chelsea Morning' and 'The Fiddle and the Drum'.

Review: Jamaican reggae and dancehall star Sean Paul did a lot to popularise the genre in the UK and US way before the current wave of artists who dominate. Dusty Rock is his seance album from back in November 2022 and it spawned plenty of chart-climbing singles that helped it, and Paul, go on to become a worldwide phenomenon. Of course, the standout single that still gets plenty of hammer is 'Gimme The Light' while 'Like Glue,' 'I'm Still In Love With You' and 'Get Busy' are all bangers, too, on a record full of big hooks, fresh rhythms and big energy.

Hans Zimmer is unquestionably one of the greatest composers of modern times. More specifically, he's perhaps the greatest living film composer, having scored more movies than we could ever hope to list here. Recent credits including the much-hyped and long-anticipated Dune redo, and Denis Villeneuve's rightly celebrated sci-fi epic, Blade Runner 2049.

As you guessed from this web page, The Dark Knight is another title he put his name to, all the way back in 2008. Christopher Nolan's second Batman instalment, arguably the finest in the history of the franchise, really needed something rooted in menacing, unsettling atmospherics, with rousing moments capable of restoring hope even against some near-impossible odds. He did just that, as this evocative powerhouse of a classical album proves. Not exactly easy listening, prepare to be moved in more ways than one.

Review: Half a century old and still kicking raw ass like it's still 1972, Alice Cooper's School's Out gets a deluxe reissue treatment befitting of such an iconic album. On this whopping triple-vinyl edition, Rhino have had the original album remastered so it's sounding better than ever, but of course there's heaps of bonus material to enjoy as well. You get the single versions of 'School's Out' and 'Gutter Cat vs. The Jets', an alternate version of 'Alma Mater' and an early demo of 'Elected'. On top of all that is a recording of the band's concert in Miami in 1972, recorded just before they stepped into the studio to lay down the album.

Review: Alive Cooper's 1971 classic Killer was his fourth studio album during a truly unstoppable period for the Detroit rocker.

Containing a godlike 100 or so tracks on it, it includes lost rarities like 'Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream (Demo)' and 'The Deterioration Of The Fight Or Flight Response" (B-side Fight Test UK CD 1)' and Flaming Lips fans surely have their work cut out for them. A must for all obsessive collectors of the UK psychers' work, hoping to salvage their most obscure sonic trips - the ones that never came back.

Review: Prepare to be wowed by this reissue of a classic Roberta Flack album. It is one that is now 50+ years old so comes on special clear vinyl. It topped the charts in 1972, some three years after it was actually released in 1969. Of course, it is best known for the tune 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' which was in Clint Eastwood's movie 'Play Misty for Me'. It went on to stay at number one for six weeks and then won the Grammyr Award for Record of the Year in 1973. Allegedly the record only took 10 hours to complete in its entirety, and what a record it is.

Review: Just as indie bands today tend to juggle membership of multiple outfits, shoegaze bands in the '90s were on the just the same wavelength. Luna, for example, received most of its initial attention thanks to Dean Wareham of Galaxie 500's involvement - now backed by new friends Stanley Demeski and Justin Harwood. But music always defies the static expectations of the press. Lunapark, first released in 1992, is a happy opiate of an LP, contrasting to Galaxie's moody, unfiltered aesthetic. With its sound palette largely immaculate, and its crunching guitar chord progressions influenced by blues and Americana - this album could be said to be an ode to overcoming, and/or basking in, addiction.

Review: You can't help wondering what Atlantic Records were thinking when they rejected Little Earthquakes. Tori Amos' debut album, which finally saw the light of day in 1992, reaching 14 in the UK long form charts at a time when competition in the Top anything was ridiculously fierce, the record stands up very well on its own, trapped in your own listening capsule. More so, it marked the arrival of a truly unique voice who would go on to inspire a bunch of alt-pop sirens.
Of course, the finished article garnered praise from across the critical board, proving that what label executives don't know is often what the rest of us do - originality has far more longevity than a guaranteed number one. Producing timeless singles like 'Silent All These Years', 'China', 'Winter', and, of course, 'Crucify', it's a joy to hear again.

Review: Can any film hope for the perfect synergy between curated soundtrack, moving image and mood that Lost In Translation achieved? Sofia Coppola's melancholic reflection on Tokyo through Western eyes plays out like an especially emotive dream, and that's thanks in no small part to the regal tones of Kevin Shields' shoegaze imprint punctuating the thoughtfully selected songs. From Squarepusher at his most tender to Shields own My Bloody Valentine and fellow guitar-drone legends The Jesus & Mary Chain, there's heaps of atmosphere spilling out of this soundtrack, and so tethered to the film is the music you could drop the needle on this one and find yourself right back on the streets of urban Japan.

Review: Captain Beefheart - AKA Don Glen Vliet - was apparently looking to right some of the wrongs that accompanied the release of his previous records with this 1972 outing. Although catapulted into the cult premier league with Trout Mask Replica three years earlier, and delivering three very good records between then and this, commercial success had continued to evade the arty blues master, something he went out to rectify here.
Failing to chart in the UK, and peaking at 191 in the Billboard 200 Albums Chart stateside, it's hard to make any big claims about him achieving that goal. Nevertheless, Clear Spot is a timeless slice of evidence in support of his legendary status, with the raw, grizzled sound we love him for defines everything here, not to mention incredible guitar riffs and genuinely innovative song craft (see the broken and surreal 'Golden Birdies' for one example.)

Review: Widely hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time, Joni Mitchell's Blue is one of those totemic releases which transcends musical divisions to land in the hearts of anyone it touches. From the sincerity of her lyricism to the fathoms-deep feeling in her voice, the fragile beauty of the melodic composition and the tender playing of the guitar and piano, it's quite simply perfect. It's an album which should be in every home, and now it's repressed by Rhino on heavyweight wax in a gatefold sleeve - the definitive way to experience such an important document of 20th century music.

Review: The Asylum Albums is the latest in a string of long-planned archival re-issues of Joni Mitchell's globally adored work. Together with her late-manager, Elliot Roberts, the pair announced in 2020 that fans would have an opportunity to get their hands on some of the Canadian folk, jazz, pop and rock doyen's previously unreleased stuff, while also revisiting seminal albums.

Each box set in the series follows a similar format, with original albums packaged together with brand new artwork by Mitchell, with a second musical outing for each era containing things most of us have never heard before. The Asylum Years comprises the first four albums she released for Asylum Records, and is therefore part one of the exploration of that period - widely considered a seminal era for her sound.

Review: "Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo / Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo / Doo doo doo, doo doo-doo doo..." Nobody could accuse Third Eye Blind of poetic metaphors on the smash hit 'Semi-Charmed Life', lead single from this, their 1997 self-titled debut, but we can all reflect on the fact the song has everything necessary stick to your mind like glue, and defines an age that we can rightly feel longing towards.

The late-1990s were, upon reflection and in comparison with today, lacking in cynicism and very much styled with hearts-on-sleeves. Even if back then we thought we were defined by skepticism. Third Eye Blind's take on post-grunge alternative rock kind of epitomises this - not an outright rejection of commercialised music, yet anything but throwaway.

Review: The Ramones are one of those bands that everyone agrees on, to some extent, before disagreeing. Such was their career trajectory. Unanimously, the first three albums - 1976's Ramones, 77's Leave Home, and Road to Ruin (1978) - were all bonafide 20th Century works of wonder. End of the Century, which landed as the decades switched over, is where views start to divide. As such this collection of their LPs from the next ten years, or so, may not immediately jump out and grab everyone.

That's a real shame, and hopefully this package, which is the first time these records have been reissued on vinyl, will go some way towards making people remember exactly how good the vast majority if their 80s output was. Pleasant Dreams, Subterranean Jungle, and Too Tough To Die are exceptional outings that are guaranteed to put you off whatever it is you're listening to from this millennium. Throw in Animal Boy, Halfway to Sanity, Brain Drain and Still More Stuff, the latter itself a retrospective of unreleased bits from this era, and we think this is a real punk winner.

Review: Originally released in 1971, Morning Of The Earth is a touchstone in the surf film category, following surfers in Australia questing for the perfect wave when the sport was still a niche culture and places like Bali hadn't been exposed to tourism. The soundtrack fed into the overall impression of surf as a kindred spirit of hippie culture, with G. Wayne Thomas and others writing delicate folk rock pieces which matched the dreamy Super 8 footage. 50 years since its release, the soundtrack is getting a picture disc reissue on Rhino with all the original songs included.

Review: Biggie's posthumous opus is loaded with hip-hop lore. Just listen to Sean 'Puffy' Combs chatting, "it ain't over" over the beep of the heart monitor. That's how raw feelings were when Life After Death landed, just 16 days after his death. The topic of death was already woven into his music on Ready To Die, and so the ominous signs on tracks like 'Somebody's Gotta Die' weigh heavy in the context, even after all these years. Still, the bangers come thick and fast - will anything sound as iconic as 'Hypnotize'? Well, if you thought you knew the album inside out then check this, a Super Deluxe Edition across eight discs with every radio edit, club mix and unreleased demo you could ever dream of. It's a monumental issue of a monumental work - one of the most vital in all of hip-hop history.

Review: Combining rock & roll, blues, country, rhythm & blues, and jazz, Little Feat may not be as familiar as many of America's other great guitar groups, but their impact and influence cannot be understated. Take the 1974 Rolling Stone magazine interview with Jimmy Page, for example. A true rock legend, he cited this lot as his favourite band bar none, which tells you everything there is to know. The rock and roll band's rock and roll band, or something like that, this recording was captured during Little Feat's undisputed heyday, five years before founder, lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Lowell George collapsed in a hotel room and died from a heart attack, leaving other members to disband and some to reform nine years later. It's electrifying stuff, packed with ideas and imagination, elements of honky tonk, swamp, and late-night barroom whisky chugging tones, marking the aforementioned Page out as a man of discerning taste.

Review: The Sound Of Music had a long-lasting impact, and one of its cornerstones was 'My Favourite Things', later covered by trumpeter-visionary John Coltrane. Coltrane's version - the lead track from the album of the same name - helped cement the song's cultural standing, topping the charts in several countries. Three other tracks appear on the album in mono; Cole Porter's 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye', and two standards from the Gershwin twins on the B side. This new reissue by Rhino, however, has both stereo and mono, along with new liner notes: we're blown away by this light-hearted trumpet masterpiece.

Accruing all the hits, we begin with the seminal 'Rescue' before careening through 'Never Stop', 'The Killing Moon' and 'Seven Seas', recalling the new wave band's emotive drawl and gushing instrumentals, coinciding with the time in which their contemporaneous album, 'Songs To Learn and Sing', was released.

Review: RECOMMENDED
70 years in the entertainment industry, 80 Grammy Award nominations (and 28 wins), joint-first African American to be given a nod at the Academy Awards for Best Original Song (alongside writing partner Bob Russell), and the first African American to be made musical director and conductor of those Oscar ceremonies. Even uttering the name Quincy Jones fills the soul with reverence, not least as he's one of the only people we know of who managed to attend their own memorial service, following a life-threatening brain aneurysm in 1974.

Suffice to say, he recovered, and would continue to write scores for the silver screen for another decade or so, albeit with far less prolific output. Dollars arrived a couple of years before that game-changing medical emergency, and the soundtrack is very much Jones. Packed with jazz, soul, rhythm & blues, rock 'n' roll, and funk, each genre is realised in a way that makes the songs feel authentic and brand new.

In the film itself, it was the movie's main stars Irene Cara and Lonette McKee who mostly sang the tunes but this recording features the Queen of Soul Aretha singing them at Curtis's Curtom studio in Chicago. He composed and produced all the tunes and here they are pressed onto sealer vinyl for the first time since they were first released. It's a feel good selection whether or not you have seen the film.

It is the first repress since original rase in 1991 and Selections from the motion picture include one of Miles Davis' final filmed performances. There was a huge number of personnel involved in the album, with everything from woodwind to French horn, keys, bass and trumpet to sax, drums and percussion all involved in making it a rich tapestry of stylish and evocative jazz.

Review: This reissue of Canadian country pop sensation K.D. For fans of divinely smooth, clean and romantic love songs in the post-country continuum, this 2021 version is pressed onto a special 180-gram orange and yellow coloured vinyl run. Produced with longrtime collaborator and guitarist Ben Mink, we're reminded that this is one of the cleanest sounding albums we've ever heard, blending a stage-ready musicality with Lang's unwaveringly perfect voice - choice moods include the chromatic 'You're OK' and the popping ethereum of 'Infinite And Unforeseen'.

Review: Swedish pop rock duo Roxette were one of the country's breakout acts in the genre. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of their third album 'Joyride', Rhino Records have seen to a due repress in a plethora of formats, including single LP, 4xLP, and even a limited orange marble vinyl version. Remembering the proto-balearic ballad-belters' monumental rise to number 1 on the Billboard 100 chart in May 1991, this album initially sold more than 11 million copies, setting a record previously not achieved by any other Scandinavian act. This version, however, also adds a whopping 35 new and unreleased bonus tracks; check out the night-riding, cutthroat bit that is 'Hotblooded', which was initially intended to take the place of 'Joyride' as the album's lead single.

It was the fourth of the band's albums and was related back in 1984. It reached number four on the UK Albums Chart thanks to singles like 'Silver', 'Seven Seas' and personal favourite 'The Killing Moon.' The album got the band back to the top of their game after the rather less than warm reception to previous album Porcupine the year before thanks to its new found romantic sweetness and the band's bittersweet melodies.

Review: Hans Zimmer is unquestionably one of the greatest composers of modern times.

Review: Some of the finest soul albums of all time are not studio sets, but rather live recordings that capture the energy of the greats at the peak of their powers. Aretha Franklin's Oh My Oh My: Aretha Live in Philly 1972 is one such example. Backed by a band of hugely talented musicians, the two-hour concert recording sees the undisputed Queen of Soul deliver spine-tingling recordings of stone-cold classics ('Rocksteady', 'Respect', 'Oh Me Oh My', 'Spanish Harlem' and so on) interspersed with some genuinely brilliant cover versions. The album was first released on CD way back in 2007, but this marks its' belated and much deserved release on vinyl. In a word: essential.

It was broadcast on the radio back then and has never officially made it on to vinyl until now. For this Record Store Day it gets pressed up to 180g vinyl and limited to 13000 copies worldwide. Review: Remarkably, it's 25 years since the release of Lou Reed's seventeenth solo album, Set the Twilight Reeling. To celebrate this significant anniversary, Reed has decided to offer-up a fresh vinyl edition, this time on audiophile-friendly heavy wax with an accompanying booklet. To aid sound quality, the album has now been stretched over three sides of vinyl, with the fourth featuring an etched image of the album's artwork. It's a beautifully presented reissue all told, though it's the quality of the music - typically fuzzy, lo-fi and dominated by the twin attractions of Reed's proto-punk guitars and weather-worn vocals - that impresses most. While not one of the most celebrated sets in Reed's epic catalogue, Set The Twilight Reeling is still a hugely impressive and involving album.
