Notes: Uni is a triple attenuverter utility module designed to give cases gigantic macro control knobs.

Inputs:

CV inputs 1 and 3 - CV input for bidirectional attenuation. When input cables aren't plugged into these jacks, 5v reference signals will be used.
CV input 2 - CV input for either unidirectional or bidirectional attenuation. When an input cable isn't plugged into this jack, a 5v reference signal will be used.
Switch - toggles CV input 2 between unidirectional and bidirectional attenuation.

Outputs:

CV outputs 1, 2 and 3 - attenuated CV output. If no cables are plugged into an output jack, it is summed into the subsequent output jack.

Torus is an overdub looper for harmonic playback. It offers four, 16-step pattern banks for sequencing as well as other sample manipulation techniques. It was designed to bring daw recording workflows (sample reversing, pitch shifting, sequencing, etc.) to eurorack cases.

Inputs:

A, B, C, D - buttons for choosing the current pattern. When combined with chain, these buttons can be used to sequence a pattern chain. Individual chains can be support 16 steps and are kept in sync with torus's global clock.

Chain - button for chaining behaviours. Chain + A, B, C, D can be used to sequence a pattern chain. Chain + record can be used to record multiple patterns in series and then chain playback. Chain + clear can be used to clear all recorded patterns. Chain + tap can be used to reset the current pattern when it contains recordings.

Mix - knob and CV used to blend between the input signal and the recorded pattern.

Record - button and gate in for turning on and off recording. When a pattern is not recorded, record will turn on and in sync with the clock. When a pattern is recorded, record will immediately turn on and off overdubbing.

Oct - buttons for octave shifting pattern buffer playback. Oct buttons can be used to clock divide/multiply an input clock signal.

Reverse - button and gate in for reversing buffer playback.

Harm - knob and CV for choosing harmonic pattern playback speeds. Playback speeds include both integer clock multipliers and perfect intervals.

Tap - button for tapping in tempos for the internal clock. Tap will repeat the current note when the current pattern contains recordings. Combine with chain to reset the entire pattern when the current pattern contains recordings.

Clear - button and gate in for clearing the current pattern. Combine with chain to clear all recorded patterns.

Clock - gate in for clock syncing

In L and in R - audio input, left will be converted to stereo if there is no right input.

Outputs:

Harm out - gate output mapping to harmonic playback resets. This gate output will range from 1-16x the clock out frequency depending on the harm knob/CV value.

Clock out - gate output for the global clock. The output gate frequency will be 0.25-4x the input clock speed based on the oct button state.

Reset - gate output when the current pattern has reset.

Notes: Monolith is a pitch-shifter reverb inspired by west coast synthesis techniques. It utilizes a time-domain based FM algorithm that acts as a shimmer.

Freq and v/oct - knob and CV for controlling the frequency of the FM modulator oscillator. Also control reverb pre-delay.
Shape - knob and CV for controlling FM modulator oscillator shape. Shape wavetable transitions from sine wave (8 o'clock) to triangle wave (12 o'clock) to square wave (4 o'clock).
Clock - CV gate for tempo syncing modulator oscillator period.

Nebulae is a granular sampler and DSP platform. Its phase vocoder audio engine provides elastic audio, which can be time stretched, granularized, and mangled to no end. With independent control over pitch and speed, and granular controls such as overlap, window, and density, finding new sonic territory is only a knob turn away. Nebulae can use live audio input, a recorded buffer, or audio files as the source material for its powerful audio manipulations. The live input buffer can record up to five minutes of stereo audio at 48kHz, 24 bit. In addition, up to 75 MB of stereo audio can be loaded simultaneously through the USB port. No naming convention or special formatting necessary; just plug and play.

Yester Versio is the long-awaited answer to the request for a simple delay on the Versio platform. Yester Versio is a three-tap delay designed to be straightforward and easy to control. It's perfect to help glue together almost any patch, with just enough character to stand out if that's what you want.

Yester Versio comes with controls over panning, delay feedback, and delay time, but Noise Engineering didn't stop there. The Time control interacts with the Even/Triplet/Dotted switch, allowing for flexible delay syncing. These also work with the Tap button and jack input, making it easy to sync Yester to the rest of your patch and create interesting rhythms.

Use the DJ-style filter to shape your delays. Add flavor with Chorus, a bipolar control that adds a bit of clean pitch shifting or LFO-modulated effects. Turn up Fold for some gentle saturation, then gritty wavefolding, and at the top of the knob, to add in chaotic suboctaves for a bit of doom.

Sinc Legio is a simple oscillator with some tricks up its proverbial sleeve. If you need some basic waveforms, Sinc has you covered - and it makes it easy to spice up those waveforms with phase modulation, wavefolding, or hard sync. Sinc pairs well with other oscillators in your system, too: hard-sync and stereo PM inputs make complex sounds easy to patch. Combine broad-ranging timbral parameters with a vintage-inspired chorus, and you're well on your way to stereo sound-design heaven in just 6 HP.

Sinc's multiple algorithms give a world of timbral possibility at the flip of a switch. Phase modulation, plucky FM, and bright and heavy modulation await. And on top of that, Noise Engineering have added a wavefolder to it. Shape and fold to your heart's content in Fold mode.

Noise Engineering received tons of requests for NE filters over the years, and Roucha Legio is their first dedicated release. The filter features lowpass, bandpass, and highpass settings and tracks frequency via the dedicated encoder and extremely accurate 1v/8va CV input. Roucha Legio's CV-controlled resonance parameter can go from clean to acidy-squelchy for bassline joy. Add CV for filter sweeps that will knock your socks off. Of course, because it's a Noise Engineering module, there's a Fold knob. Add wavefolding to the signal chain before, after, or both before and after the filter.

Noise Engineering have made it easy to carry out dramatic buildups and cuts with Roucha Legio. Just tap the encoder to bypass; tap again to turn the filter on again. Want to automate it? Send a gate into the Bypass input. The filter will remain bypassed as long as a high gate is present.

Opp Ned ships with 12 of Noise Engineering's favourite arps, including tetrads, major, pentatonic major, minor third, and pentatonic minor, but you can edit and save custom arpeggios to twelve memory slots. Recall your custom arpeggios manually or with CV using the Ptn input. If you ever want to restore the factory arps, just head to the Noise Engineering Customer Portal.

Explore the sonic space of phase cancellation! Phase cancellation shapes the characteristics of all acoustic instruments. It forms the basis of chorus and phaser effects. It gives vibrancy to detuned oscillators. The vibrant sound of pulse width modulation or the roaring sound of animated supersaws are a small part of a much larger sonic space that the Triphase Oscillator is built to discover.

The Triphase Oscillator produces three different sawtooth waves at the exact same pitch but with independent phase control. These are blended in a bipolar CP3-type mixer, giving a rich waveform at the output. By blending in a wave with a positive polarity, you reinforce in-phase harmonics; by blending a wave with a negative polarity, you reduce in-phase harmonics. The phase differences between the waves distribute the harmonics from in-phase to out-of-phase. The result is a comb-filter effect, like the effect produced by an acoustic reflection, with notches and peaks spaced evenly throughout the frequency range. Conventional pulse width modulation can be obtained by blending two sawtooth waves with equal but opposite polarity. Supersaw-like behavior can be obtained by using phase CV with the same polarity for all three waves. But many other interesting spaces can be reached. For example, by setting the phases correctly you can cancel out the first harmonic and get a saw an octave higher, or cancel both the first and the second harmonic, giving you a saw an octave and a fifth above the fundamental frequency. Modulation then brings back these canceled harmonics.

The Triphase Oscillator is completely analog, built around a sawtooth core that is functionally stable and accurate but sonically alive. It has linear FM on all three waves, and an excellent hard sync that can create shredding harmonic sweeps. The CP3 type mixer gives good distortion at higher levels, allowing you to blend three 5-volt-peak waves without worrying about headroom. All CV functions at audio rate. With an LFO driving the phases, it can easily replace the classic analog three oscillator setup, and in this configuration it's one of the fattest things you have ever heard. But the Triphase oscillator is much more than a thickener, and can just as easily produce thin reedy sounds or subtly shifting harmonic drones.

Notes: Warp is a novel synth engine that combines the best of additive and wavetable synthesis.

In the center of Warp's control panel is a colorful XY LED matrix that represents the sound space from which Warp draws its sounds. This XY sound space consists of 32x16 frequency spectra. Each of Warp's four voices can move freely and independently across the XY space. It always uses the surrounding frequency spectra to calculate a wavetable based on 512 sine waves in real time using additive synthesis. By changing the position, wicked wavetable sounds are possible, playable with four voices and eight oscillators and navigable in two directions. An intuitive integrated editor allows playful modeling of your own frequency spectra.
With Warp's SPEC effects the frequency spectrum can be filtered and deformed in realtime before a wavetable is calculated. The wavetable can then be modified with WARP effects like wavefolder, PWM bend, overdrive and redux. The resulting wavetable serves as source for two oscillators per voice, which can be detuned and also synchronized to each other. Each voice is followed by a 12/24dB/octave high pass and low pass filter.

Warp offers an integrated editor, with which you can playfully draw and modify your own frequency spectra. The XY-Sound Space is seen as a canvas on which you can draw your own frequency peaks. Several drawing algorithms are available as tools to edit single or a group of harmonics in a musically meaningful way. There is also the possibility to derive frequency spectra from audio samples from the SD card or to put whole wavetable audio files into the XY sound space. Likewise, the XY sound space can be exported to the SD card as a wavetable audio file of any length and bit depth, so Warp can also be used as an intuitive wavetable generator for other synthesizers.

Also on board are two internal ADSR envelopes and two LFOs, which can be routed to a variety of internal destinations using a modulation matrix. To keep the overview, all modulations are color-coded and are additionally visualized by pulsating LEDs in the modulation matrix view.

Navigation through the menu is as intuitive as with our QUASAR module and is simply done via a push-encoder and a back button. The display always shows which function the four surrounding aluminum encoders currently have, and colored LEDs next to the encoders provide visual assistance. Likewise, the tuning of the module is done via a detented encoder, which adjusts the pitch either in fine steps, in semitones or in octaves. An octave switch is thus already integrated.

For all its feature-richness, Warp still remains a playable and performance-oriented instrument. The large potentiometers serve as macro controls to control several parameters under the hood at once. This keeps the instrument straight forward with a manageable number of controls, but they are all very expressive.
Likewise, the module offers the ability to save and load presets and also comes with audio files and presets on board. Thus, Warp is ideally suited for both detail-oriented sound design and hands-on performance.

In the standalone version, Warp is a monophonic four-voice synth voice that can also be used as an oscillator. With an expander module, it will also be possible to play Warp four-voice polyphonic via MIDI and CV/Gate in the future.

Notes: CV Random is a random CV generator with 4 types of randomness and a triggerable sample-and-hold function.

Sliders allow you to set the internal clock tempo (RATE), shape the probability of triggering (PROB), blend old with new values (RND) and set the shape of all four random outputs (SHAPE).

RATE

Sets the tempo of the internal clock. The CV input below the slider adjusts the clock rate, with 1V/oct calibration when the CV attenuverter is 100%. Upon each clock trigger, the RATE slider light blinks, and there is a chance for the internal random source to generate a new value.

PROB

This probability is set by the PROB slider, and if a new value was generated, the PROB slider light blinks and a pulse is emitted from the TRIG output.

RND

When the internal random source generates a new value, it mixes the previous value with a random value, with an amount specified by the RND slider.

SHAPE

The SHAPE slider sets the shape of all four random outputs. At its lowest position (0%), all outputs immediately jump to the new random value (the target value) when the clock is triggered.

At non-zero positions, the outputs interpolate between the previous and the target value, using a different behaviour for each output.

Internal random clock source

Whenever the clock activates, the RATE slider's light flashes. At the same time, there's a chance that the internal random source will create a new value, depending on the PROB slider's setting.

If it does create a new value, the PROB slider's light flashes too, and a pulse comes out of the TRIG output.

External IN & TRIG inputs

If the TRIG input is patched, the RATE slider is ignored, and the internal clock is only triggered when an external trigger is received. The PROB slider is used to filter this trigger by applying some probability.

Self-modulation

Thanks to a switch in the back of the module, you can normalize the LIN output to the 4 CV inputs and adjust the amount of modulation for each parameter with the attenuverters.

This adds another layer of randomness to your results, enabling more dynamic and unpredictable outcomes.

SHAPE Outputs

The STEP output jumps to the new value in one step at 0% SHAPE, and divides the transition into 16 steps at 100% SHAPE.

The LIN output immediately reaches the new value at 0% SHAPE, and takes the whole clock cycle to do so at 100% SHAPE, staying constant in between.

The EXP output shifts exponentially, becoming linear at 100% SHAPE, with its pace adjusted by the SHAPE slider.

The SMTH output transitions smoothly, with the speed controlled by the SHAPE setting, holding at the target until the cycle ends.

Notes: Designed to be a highly customizable connection matrix, 3DVCA packs a boat load of utility into a small 6HP package. Four VCAs share the three macro controls: X, Y, and Z. As a group, they shape incoming and outgoing signals and emulate the coordinates of a point in 3 dimensional space. This allow the VCAs to work together in a mono, stereo, or quad configuration and accomplish a variety of mixing, crossfading, and panning functions.

Each output has a dedicated SUM input which allows an external signal to be automatically mixed into the output signal. This allows 3DVCA to daisy chain both with other mixers and other 3DVCAs. For example, you can create a full mono, stereo, or quadraphonic mix by plugging the output of each 3DVCA into the sum inputs of the next 3DVCA in the chain. Using this method, a set of 3DVCAs can create a fully voltage controlled and decentralized mixer which ties together anything from a small skiff to a monster synth.

When 3DVCA works as a crossfader or panner, the X and Y parameters follow an equal-power curve that keep output signals at the same volume no matter how many inputs are mixed together. This is in contrast to the Z parameter which follows a linear curve to always behave predictably with external modulation sources. All inputs are fully DC coupled in order to work with modulation speed signals as well as static DC voltage sequences; this means that 3DVCA can handle any sort of signal that you throw at it. All op amps in the device employ rail-to-rail inputs and outputs to enable the largest headroom when mixing many different signals together.

Notes: Drums4 is a 4 voice, sample based percussion sound generator.

Each voice can select its sound from a 48 sample global bank, samples are curated from the manufacturer's collection of percussion sources used in their music.

Each sample can be tuned and has an individual output for independent processing , and there's also a simple mixer that controls levels to the main mixed output.

Operation is simple and intuitive, the selected sample is remembered after power down for each of the 4 voices.

Incoming triggers are displayed on each voice LED indicator.

Dual Voltage Polarizer

You may have heard this before: "You can never have enough VCAs". A voltage polarizer (also known as a bipolar VCA or a 4-quadrant multiplier) is often viewed as the VCA better suited for CV. As it can be used as a unipolar VCA and it allows you to invert a signal when it is modulated with a negative voltage. Resulting in interesting movements in your modulations.

What sets Arkan apart from other voltage polarizers is the curvature control, a feature usually only seen in unipolar VCAs. By taking a different approach to the classic voltage polarizer circuitry, Malstrom have devised a unique solution that provides a new way to shape your audio and CV. The non-linearity of the polarizer also makes Arkan really good at reaching silence when presented with a 0V CV signal.

At audio rate, Arkan acts as a ring-modulator with four controls to change timbres.

Boosting adds odd harmonics (symmetrical distortion), while offsetting adds even harmonics (asymmetrical distortion). The modulation curve changes ring modulation sharpness, and modulation strength determines the carrier dominance.

Two identical channels with carefully selected features will make Arkan your go-to modulation control hub. Arkan is especially useful for common utility duties such as mixing, scaling, inverting and offsetting. As well as CV modulation, feedback patching, and waveshaping. All this makes Arkan a very versatile tool that will certainly have a place in your patch!
