3D Morphing

Morphos' preset strips are groups of four specially developed FSR sensors that can precisely detect vertical, horizontal and pressure information from the pressure distribution of your finger. 3D morphing allows you to create entirely new soundscapes by morphing between multiple user presets, in three different dimensions. All at the reach of your fingertips, it opens up a whole new world for live jamming!

The Synthesis

The two all-analogue, digitally controlled Oscillators provide very pure harmonics, 4 waveform types on a continuously variable potentiometer and extremely stable TZFM (Through Zero Frequency Modulation). Thanks to its digital brain, an active calibration system allows it to track over 10 octaves, even at high TZFM ratio.

Contextual Modulation

Morphos inherits Norand Mono's Contextual Modulation technology, adapted for the modular world. It is possible to modulate every parameter under CV. The module provides 3 Modulation Modes - Attenuverter, Modulator and Ping Envelope - allowing you to modulate timbre and create drum sounds.

Chord v2 is a plug and play solution for bringing musical polyphony to your system. It contains four oscillator voices, a multitude of waveforms, and intelligent tuning functionality. This new version features an expanded sonic palette and feature set in half the size of the original.

It features three primary modes of operation: Chord, Free Running, and Unison. These three modes allow the oscillators to be tuned as diatonic chords, run independently of each other, or be tuned to the same internal frequency for external v/oct sequencing through independent CV inputs.

The timbral possibilities of the Chord v2 bring its polyphonic tones to life. The module ships with eight banks of waveforms encompassing traditional shapes, vocal synthesis, organ emulation, and chiptune sounds. You can also load custom wavetables using the SD card slot on the front panel.

Nautilus is a complex delay network inspired by sub-nautical communications and their interaction with the environment. In essence, Nautilus is a stereo delay consisting of 8 unique delay lines which can be connected and synced in interesting ways. Each time Nautilus pings its sonar system, the generated topography reveals itself through the delay, all while staying in time with the internal or external clock. Complex feedback interactions plunge sounds to new depths, while related delay lines pull fragments of sound in different directions. Manipulate the delay lines even further by configuring the the stereo receptors, sonar frequencies, and aquatic materials that filter the space between Nautilus and its surroundings.

Though Nautilus is a delay effect at heart, it is also a CV/Gate generator. The Sonar Output creates either a unique Gate signal, or a unique CV signal algorithmically generated from Nautilus's findings. Drive other parts of your patch with pings from the delay network, or use the generated topography as a modulation source.

Aurora uses a phase vocoder audio engine which separates the input signal's time and pitch domains. By blurring these signals you can achieve beautiful time-stretched tails, or cybernetic metallic effects.

Since Aurora's sonic response is entirely dependent on the input signal, no two patches will sound alike, lending itself to an infinite world of surprise and discovery.

Torus is an overdub looper for harmonic playback. It offers four, 16-step pattern banks for sequencing as well as other sample manipulation techniques. It was designed to bring daw recording workflows (sample reversing, pitch shifting, sequencing, etc.) to eurorack cases.

Inputs:

A, B, C, D - buttons for choosing the current pattern. When combined with chain, these buttons can be used to sequence a pattern chain. Individual chains can be support 16 steps and are kept in sync with torus's global clock.

Chain - button for chaining behaviours. Chain + A, B, C, D can be used to sequence a pattern chain. Chain + record can be used to record multiple patterns in series and then chain playback. Chain + clear can be used to clear all recorded patterns. Chain + tap can be used to reset the current pattern when it contains recordings.

Mix - knob and CV used to blend between the input signal and the recorded pattern.

Record - button and gate in for turning on and off recording. When a pattern is not recorded, record will turn on and in sync with the clock. When a pattern is recorded, record will immediately turn on and off overdubbing.

Oct - buttons for octave shifting pattern buffer playback. Oct buttons can be used to clock divide/multiply an input clock signal.

Reverse - button and gate in for reversing buffer playback.

Harm - knob and CV for choosing harmonic pattern playback speeds. Playback speeds include both integer clock multipliers and perfect intervals.

Tap - button for tapping in tempos for the internal clock. Tap will repeat the current note when the current pattern contains recordings. Combine with chain to reset the entire pattern when the current pattern contains recordings.

Clear - button and gate in for clearing the current pattern. Combine with chain to clear all recorded patterns.

Clock - gate in for clock syncing

In L and in R - audio input, left will be converted to stereo if there is no right input.

Outputs:

Harm out - gate output mapping to harmonic playback resets. This gate output will range from 1-16x the clock out frequency depending on the harm knob/CV value.

Clock out - gate output for the global clock. The output gate frequency will be 0.25-4x the input clock speed based on the oct button state.

Reset - gate output when the current pattern has reset.

Notes: Monolith is a pitch-shifter reverb inspired by west coast synthesis techniques. It utilizes a time-domain based FM algorithm that acts as a shimmer.

Notes: Amnis is a shift register with a few tricks up its sleeves. It can be used as a generative sequencer for gates and CV, as a tunable digital noise source, as a random gate and CV generator, as the center of a chaotic system and more.

It needs two input signals to start doing its thing. A Clock and some Data. Data can be pretty much any signals. From these two signals Amnis will generate 8 gate outputs, always on the clock. From these gate outputs, it will generate 3 staircase CVs and a slewed CV. With 8 gates and 4 CV outputs it can be the heart of any patch.

Amnis has an XOR input for linear feedback. A shift register with linear feedback is the core of the Rungler, the chaotic core in Rob Hordijk's Benjolin and Blippoo Box. With Amnis you can recreate these type of behaviors with any oscillators you have on hands.

Amnis is compatible with the Turing Machine expanders thanks to its expansion port at the back.

Due to popular demand for a 3U shift register, Amnis replaces (and expands on) Ruissellement, which was the 1U version of this module.

Notes: Altar is a 3-pole state variable discrete filter.

Its discrete core is a brand new design made of modern discrete transistors. The filter can morph continuously from Bandpass to Lowpass to Highpass via CV.

By changing the input gain the character of the filter can go from very clean and vocal to a more distorted acidic sound.

The ASSIMIL8OR is a CV/Gate-controllable sampler with eight independent channels. Each channel is not only its own voice, but also has a separate audio output and a gate/trigger and three CV inputs. Given ever get two sample inputs and main outputs. Thus, Stereo Sampling and playback is possible. Mixed operation of stereo or mono is possible and is limited only by the maximum number of eight channels or parts.

The ASSIMIL8OR works with high-quality 24-bit AD and DA converters. Internally, however, sample and bit rate for lo-fi sound can be lowered, the latter is even CV-controllable. The samples can also be otherwise manipulated in many ways. Thus, the phase of a sample via CV or a different sample can be modulated. Likewise, the loop points can be controlled and the sample can be traversed with CV control (scrubbing), whereby wavetable similar effects could be achieved. Notes: At the core of the EVOLUTION Variable Character Ladder Filter is Dave Rossum's enhancement of the iconic Moog ladder filter from the original E-mu Systems 2100 LPF module (which, incidentally, Dave counts as his favourite sounding of all of the analog filters he designed).

For EVOLUTION, Dave has designed new capabilities that not only allow you to dial in all of the outstanding qualities of the original 2100, but combine to let you create the sonic characteristics of a wide variety of other filter types.

They include:

- A Genus control that allows continuous voltage control of the number of filter poles (from 3 to 6 poles), essentially allowing real-time variation of Evolution's effective cutoff slope from 18dB/oct to 36dB/oct. LEDs give continuous indication of the current slope.
- A Species control that lets you vary the signal level into the ladder, letting you control the intensity of the filter's characteristic distortion. When in self-oscillation mode, this control modulates the amplitude of Evolution's output.
- Voltage controlled resonance with a variable Q Level Compensation control that controls the balance of the resonant peak and the frequencies below the cutoff frequency (which would otherwise be attenuated as the resonance is increased).
- An extremely accurate and temperature-stable frequency control exponential generator (accurate over 10 octaves), rivalling the specifications of the best analog VCOs.

Taken together, EVOLUTION gives you everything from the platonic ideal of the classic ladder filter to a vast selection of alternative filter characteristics.

And like all Rossum Electro-Music modules, it's solidly built, with machined aluminium knobs and high quality components throughout.

The MORPHEUS Eurorack module includes over 280 filter configurations, what we call Cubes. Each Cube is composed of up to 8 complex filters that you can picture as being at the corners of a three dimensional cube (hence the name). Morpheus gives you the ability to smoothly interpolate between those 8 filters within the cube's three dimensional space.

Due to processor limitations back in the day, the original Morpheus was capable of real-time morphing in one dimension, but interpolation in the frequency and transform dimensions were set at note-on and remained static for the remainder of the note. What's with the egg?

The functional description above describes LINNAEUS as originally conceived and designed by Dave. However, late in the beta testing process, Rossum's tester, Chris Meyer, raised the possibility of alternative behavior that would let LINNAEUS function as a self-contained (i.e., no input required) stereo oscillator and/or FM percussion voice with some really powerful timbral capabilities.

While Rossum were initially hesitant to try to shoehorn the new functions into the existing interface, once Dave had prototyped them, it was clear to us all that they were just too cool not to include. So, Rossum have provided them in the form of alternate firmware accessed by pressing and holding the Egg button.

As of March 2021, there has been a been a small bug fix to the recent software update for Mob of Emus.

The update fixes a bug where holding the Channel Selector Buttons for a short time to select a single channel and deselect any others was not working correctly.

The update fixes a bug where some Hex Mode parameters were not ignored when Hex Mode was set to off.

The update introduces a feature allowing users to double-click and hold the Hex button to reset all Hex Mode parameters and set Hex Mode to on.

Notes: The Serge Dual Universal Slope Generator (DSG) is probably the most versatile module of a Serge Modular system, incorporating a wide range of functions for both CV and audio. Some functions for which one Slope Generator can be used: VC Transient Envelope Generator, VC LFO, VC Portamento device, Envelope Follower (Detector), VC Pulse Delay (Monostable), Sub-Harmonic Series Generator (Divider), Audio Oscillator with variable waveform symmetry (saw to triangle), Non-Linear Audio Processor (low-fidelity VCF).

Notes: The Variable Q VCF (or VCFQ, for short) from Random Source is a skiff-friendly Eurorack adaptation of what is perhaps the most famous Serge filter. It is an effortlessly thick and colorful 12dB/oct multimode filter with ultra-smooth resonance that never ceases to amaze. Amazing tonal variety comes from combining outputs, automating resonance settings via CV, and adding grit using its adjustable-gain input.

Simple filtration is only one of the VCFQ's many uses, however. Its amazing trigger input turns rising-edge pulses into thick analog kicks and toms which roughly track notes thanks to a dedicated 1V/oct input. Notes: The Triple Waveshaper (TWS) is a non-linear modifier which can transform a sawtooth wave into a sine wave. This classic module incorporates three independent waveshapers for modifying synthesizer waveforms or for processing signals from preamplified instruments. Although originally designed as a waveshaper for early Serge oscillators, this module has been found to be a excellent modifier of electronic and acoustic sounds, and is highly recommended for subtle timbral modifications beyond the range of simple oscillator/filter patches.

The R*S version extends the classic TWS concept:

+1: An additional (4th) waveshaper has been added (right after the first / bottom waveshaper) that can be dialed in smoothly using the +1 knob. Turned down (CCW) the bottom section acts as in the original (as if that additional waveshaper would not exist). Turned up (CW) the bottom section is actually 2 waveshapers in series.

Switches to link the 3 sections - bottom to top. Using these switches all sections can be set to act in series, starting at the bottom and ending at the top, providing the combined effect of 3 to 4 waveshapers (or anything in between) using the +1 knob.

Linking only the middle and top section and turning the +1 knob up (to have 2 sections in the bottom) allows you to use the module for isntance as two independent 2-stage waveshapers (using bottom in and out for one and middle in and top out for the other) - e.g. for stereo processing.

Notes: The RESONANT EQUALIZER (EQ) is a unique ten-band filter designed specifically for electronic sound synthesis and processing. Except for the top and bottom frequency bands, the bands are spaced at an interval of a major seventh. The Resonant Equalizer is designed to produce formant peaks and valleys similar to those in acoustic insstruments.

There are three equalized outputs: the two COMB outputs provide the sums of the two alternate filter bands, while the two top outputs are the (identical) mix of all filter bands. Please note that there is no sharp separation between the bands, moving any frequency knob will have an influence on both COMB outputs. This equalizer is special in that the bands can be set to be resonant: when the knobs are in the middle position, the response at the main EQ Output is flat. When the knobs are positioned between the 9 and 3 o'clock position, up to 12 db of boost or cut is set at the band. If the knob is set beyond the 3 o'clock position, the band will become resonant, simulating the natural resonance of acoustic instrument formant structures. Below the 9 o'clock position, increased band rejection is achieved.

The Random*Source version of the filter is a licensed and authorized adaption of the legendary Serge equalizer for Eurorack. It adds an input mixer with 2 inputs that can be built/used to attenuate or amplify/distort the input signal(s) before they are sent into the EQ and a Feedback section (knob and phase switch) which allows to feed back the output signal or the inverted output signal (depending on the Phase switch). Adding inverted feedback leads to phase cancellation effects - unlike the "normal" feedback, level decreases and the signal thins out.

Notes: From one of the most iconic names in modular synthesis, the Variable Bandwidth Filter is a unique design, combining two state-variable VCFs with extensive CV control for clean, versatile filtering.

The Serge Variable Bandwidth Filter (VCF2) is probably the rarest classic filter in the Serge system, offering a unique combination of 2 filters. According to the 1983 Serge catalogue, the Variable Bandwidth VCF (VCF2) "has a band-pass output which can be varied manually or with voltage control. This is a standard response synthesizer VCF, typical to filters used in many studio systems. In the VCF2, two state-variable VCF's are connected in series to produce a total of five outputs. High pass, low pass, two fixed bandwidth outputs, and one variable bandwidth output are available. The outputs are all flat-response (no resonance) so the VCF2 is suitable for processing concrete sounds without introducing resonant coloration to the timbres. Under voltage or manual control, cut-off frequency of the high and low-pass outputs are affected, as well as the center frequency of the two band-pass outputs. Both center frequency and bandwidth are independently controllable on the variable bandwidth output."

Now - for the first time, designed and licenced by Serge - the VCF2 is available as a eurorack module. A new switch has been added which determines if the CV-controls are routed to the first (left), second (right) or both filters, bringing even more sonic options than the original.

Notes: The Precision VCO (PCO) is Serge's legendary oscillator. It combines raw vintage sound with astonishing precison.

The PCO is a versatile, voltage controlled oscillator now offering four high quality waveform outputs (sine, triangle, pulse and sawtooth) and both linear and exponential frequency modulation capabilities . A front panel switch conveniently extends the range of the PCO from the audio range (16 to 16,000 Hz) to a sub-audio range (.1 to 200 Hz) for use as a Low Frequency Oscillator.

EXCELLENT RESPONSE, TRACKING AND STABILITY: Featuring the identical exponential response, exceptional tracking characteristics, and perfect temperature stability as the NTO, the PCO is especially suited for use with the NTO or another PCO as a modulation source for dyanamic depth linear FM.

Two calibrated one volt per octave inputs as well as a variable processing input are provided for complex frequency control. FM depth can be varied with the front panel adjustment. A Sync input is also available for locking the PCO to another oscillator's fundamental, harmonic, or sub-harmonic frequency.

The Serge PCO is the only authorized version of Serge's classic design.

Notes: The Serge GTO is a newly designed, complex multi-functional module which can be patch programmed to provide various slew and sample functions both for audio and CV signals, but also act as a (dual) oscillator or filter or bitcrusher or ... It is one of the essential Serge modules. The GTO is an offspring of the famous Serge SSG.

The Smooth section will place a positive and negative slew on input voltage transitions for lag effects, voltage controlled portamento and for low frequency filter applications. In Cycle-mode (cycle jack patched to the input), the Smooth side “will oscillate yielding a voltage controlled triangle wave LFO. A high level into the HOLD input will enable the Smooth Function to be used as a track-and-hold circuit with voltage controlled slew rate.

The Stepped function can be used as a sample-and-hold with voltage controlled slew rate limiting. In Cycle mode, a pulse applied to the Sample input will generate complex staircase waveforms for control voltage applications and for use as audio signals.

Each side has a temperature-compensated 1V/Oct input for use as an oscillator with a frequency range of up to 20kHz (left) and 8kHz (right). Each side tracks over 5 or 6 octaves.

The Coupler is an internal comparator which compares the output levels of the Smooth and the Stepped Generators. This output is useful for generating complex control voltages or random voltages.

Notes: LYRA8-FX is a processor that can give you a significant part of the mysterious LYRA-8 sound thanks to the FX section from the LYRA-8, expanded with CV controls and packed into a Eurorack module.

It contains a double modulated lo-fi delay with cross-feedback and the unique possibility of self-modulation, where the delay output signal modulates its own sample rate. Also, it packs a parallel distortion with CV control of the drive. The distortion is after the delay. It's much more than a delay - you can get a simple reverb, comb filter, chorus and much more cool FXs which are hard to describe.

It has a famous LYRA-8 build quality - no SMD, no twisted plastic shafts.
