Notes: The Triple Cap Chaos(C^3 Chaos) is a 2hp analog, chaos based, noise oscillator, pseudo ring modulator/harmonics generator, and audio mangler Eurorack module available as a DIY Eurorack kit, PCB and Panel, or built.

It is a unique module, like the Diode Chaos, because it has never existed as a musical instrument until now. There is also no other module to my knowledge that can do exactly what the Triple Cap can do. The circuit(with several modifications) is based on the paper "Simple Autonomous Chaotic Circuits" by J.C. Sprott and Jessica R. Piper. As opposed to the Diode Chaos that generates control voltage this module focuses on the audio rate.

The "Emanate" potentiometer controls the coarser overall spectrum of the chaos, from lots of activity counter clock wise up to less chaos and more of a steady oscillation. The "Width, CV ATT" potentiometer can be thought of as more of a fine control for the chaos/oscillator. When something is inserted into the "CV" in the voltage normalization from the width knob is broken and the potentiometer now acts as an attenuator for the incoming cv. The Triple Cap is not a traditional volt per octave exponential VCO, and has a sort of narrow frequency range to exploit the chaotic behavior.

It expects a +5v to -5v max signal in to modulate the chaos. The "IN" jack is an A.C. coupled input for audio in, although cv and audio can work for both the "CV" in jack and "IN." The "IN" will interfere and interact with the onboard chaotic oscillator depending on the frequency of the input, which may take some experimentation. It can create ring mod ish sounds, to added harmonics, to almost bit crushed sounds depending on the "X" or "Y" output. The "X" output is a more windy noisy sinusoidal based output and the "Y" output is more squared off and aggressive, harsher sounding output.

Some quirks about the Triple Cap: The "X" output can offset negatively or positively a little bit depending on the pot settings, but both outputs tend to stay around 10vpp. With the "Emanate" and "Width" pots all the way up the typical frequency will be around 150hz although some will reach 200hz at this setting. With the "Emanate" pot full counter clock wise "Width" pot full clock wise the frequency will be around 250hz. It is possible to send signals into the triple cap that can bring it out of the desired range causing the oscillation to cut out.

The Triple Cap has a double sided panel. meaning one side has the classic graphics and the other is Soulless with less graphics.

Notes: The Entropy Expander is a 3hp Analog Random Voltage Generator that expands upon the features of the Entropy Euroack Module. Available as a Eurorack DIY Kit, PCB and Panel, or Built Module.

The Entropy+Expander packs together some of the most random voltage options in 6hp. It provides a controllable "Glide"(slew) out for the S/T\H, a comparator with a controllable rate("Thrsh") of random gates("Rand Gate") out with an input to compare other waveforms(Comp In, inserting a cable into here breaks the white noise normalization), and high pass filtered white noise resulting in approximate "Blue noise" (+3db/octave) and "Violet noise"(+6db/octave) outs.

The unique part of the circuit is a voltage controlled A/B switch thats normalled to the "Rand Gate" out that's switching between the S/T\H out(left Blue led window)and Infra out(right Red led window), the Glide control also effects the S/T\H coming out of the switch so you can get really random results from the "Entropy Out." Inserting a cable into "Switch CV In" breaks the random gate normalization and lets you toggle between A/B(left S/T\H out and right Infra out, indicated by the led windows) with your own gate or trigger.

There is a jumper on the pcb to select if you want glide on the s/t\h at, Entropy out, or un-slewed operation. There is also a trimmer for setting the amplitude of the incoming signal at "Comp In" which sets the frequency range of random gates. This may have to be adjusted depending on your Entropy version.

The random gate range can also be set up more as a noise oscillator by turning the pcb trim(clockwise) up or it can be set so random gates are extremely slow(trim counter clockwise) with minutes between random gates.

Notes: The Dual VCA is a 2hp 2 channel Analog VCA and Mixer Eurorack Module available as a Eurorack DIY Kit, PCB and Panel, or Built Module.

It is a DC coupled OTA(LM13700) Dual Linear VCA based on the same fabled design of the VnIcursal VCA. The 2 VCAs are summed together so it can be used as a voltage controlled mixer at the "SUM OUT" or all 3 outs can be used separately and simultaneously. 5 volts into the CV in will provide unity gain, anything above 5 volts can clip the input.

Notes: Diode Chaos is a 3hp analog chaotic low frequency voltage generator Eurorack Module available as Eurorack DIY Kit, PCB and Panel, or Built Module.

It is a unique module because it has never existed as an electronic music instrument until now. The module is based on a circuit from a paper called "A simple chaotic circuit with a light-emitting diode" written by Volos, Wang, Jafari, and Kapitaniak.

Diode Chaos produces 3 phases of interrelated morphing voltages including a chaotic trigger out. The range is 20-30 seconds a cycle up to audio rate, although only the X out and TRIG out go up to audio rate. The frequency is controlled by the RATE knob. Each output exhibits different behavior at different rate settings. X,Y, and Z outs like to stay in the 4vpp range although at different RATE settings the outs can reach 10vpp. The TRIG out chaotically releases 0-10v triggers although sometimes it will spit out smaller voltage peaks.

LED soldermask windows provide constant display of positive and negative voltage crossings.

Differences between chaos and random(some quoted and summarized material from Ian Fritz's site):

Chaos is "highly irregular, but still contained within a finite region (the "strange attractor")"

Chaos occurs in 3 dimensions.

Chaos needs a non-linear element (with Diode Chaos the nonlinear element is a red LED, and the chaos is directly visible and useable at the TRIG out).

Review: Those who've been paying close attention will know that Alex 'Omar' Smith has been mixing things up musically of late, veering away from the deep Detroit house he's famed for in order to explore a wider range of influences. New album "You Want" doesn't exactly reverse this trend, but it is far more rooted in his particular brand of seductive, off-kilter deepness and techno-tinged hypnotism than recent singles. That's undeniably a good thing, because nobody does crunchy, machine driven club jams better than the Motor City producer. There are nods towards Italian style piano house, disco, broken beat, jazz funk, Masters at Work and - more surprisingly - industrial techno (see the filthy closing cut) - but the resultant cuts don't sound like anything other than tried-and-tested Omar-S club jams.

Review: 'You Must Believe In Spring' is the celebrated 70th studio album from pioneering jazz pianist Bill Evans. Now remastered by the legendary artist of the trade Kevin Gray for Concord, the smoking, kiss-curled jazz piano great gets a full-on reminisce in stereo, this time charting his dextrous, chromatic ivory-straddling as part of a trio, with Eddie Gomnez on bass and Eliot Zigmund on drums. Soft, pining and full of harmonic curiosities and indistinct tempi, it includes a range of Evans' originals and covers, including Frank Laico's 'You Must Believe In Spring' and Johnny Mandel's 'Theme From M*A*S*H*'.

Review: The Flaming Lips' 2002 album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is being reissued as 6CD and 5LP 20th anniversary box sets - with both featuring demos, B-sides, radio sessions and more. Containing a godlike 100 or so tracks on it, it includes lost rarities like 'Psychedelic Hypnotist Daydream (Demo)' and 'The Deterioration Of The Fight Or Flight Response" (B-side Fight Test UK CD 1)' and Flaming Lips fans surely have their work cut out for them. A must for all obsessive collectors of the UK psychers' work, hoping to salvage their most obscure sonic trips - the ones that never came back.

Notes: Warna is a very useful utility module that helps you to manage control voltages in the system. Crammed in just 6 hp, there are five normalled sections: two buffered mults, two inverters, and a summing mixer. Each multiple routes the input signal to separated outputs without loss in voltage. Warna is designed for unity gain - if you apply a specific voltage to any input, it remains the same on the respective outputs. Inverters are hardwired to mults and invert the polarity of the signal applied to them. Both mults are also normalled to the mixer section via inputs. Patching anything to these inputs breaks the normalization.

The top and the bottom section both are buffered 1-in-4 multiples. The input can be inverted with a switch, i.e. its polarity will be changed by 180 degrees. Four inverted copies are then available at the outputs, meaning you can use these two sections as inverter. Bi-polar LEDs display whether the signal is positive or negative: yellow = negative, red = positive. The centre section is a four-input summing stage with amplification factor 1, a so-called unity-gain mixer. The multiples are normalized to the mixer which can be deactivated by patching.

Review: There are so many pivotal albums in The Cure's imperious back catalogue, but Wish will always remain one which heralded the band's progression from indie heroes to universally adored treasures of British pop music. The gothic tendencies are absolutely still there in the moonlit charm of 'Open' et al, but the sound is direct and expansive, with plenty of space for monster hits like 'Friday I'm In Love'. The ability to let the light in ensured Robert Smith and co. could be popular as well as profound, and they've never looked back.

Review: The Who's 50th Anniversary edition of Who's Next is being released in multiple formats and chief among them is this relatively short and succinct 4xLP version. Though four sides of vinyl isn't usually thought to be "short", this is a minimal incarnation of the reissued album, compared to the juggernaut CD and Blu-Ray box set which contains over 155 original audio tracks on it. This version is as comparatively minimal and monolithic as the 2001: A Space Odyssey monolith referenced on its front cover, though it's not still without its nice extra-album bonuses, 'Pinball Wizard' and 'Naked Eye' included.

Review: Whitney Houston's self-titled debut album, released in 1985 by Arista records in the US, was one of the biggest records of the decade, selling millions of copies worldwide. The album featured four top-five hits: 'You Give Good Love', 'Saving All My Love for You' (which won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female), 'How Will I Know', and 'Greatest Love of All'. These songs showcased Houston's amazing, young voice and her raw talent for pop and dance music. With its mix of catchy melodies, powerful vocals, and catchy production, Whitney Houston's debut album remains a classic of the 1980s and a testament to the enduring power of her voice.

Review: It would be easy to think of Whitney as the first album from one of R&B's all-time greatest icons, but in fact Whitney Houston released a self-titled album just two years earlier in 1985. Either way, it was with this light beam of pop perfection that Houston truly cemented her reputation as a global superstar, and it's not hard to understand why. The hits just spill out of this record, from 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) and 'Love Will Save The Day' to 'So Emotional' and 'For The Love Of You'. The songwriting is stellar, but of course it's Houston's impassioned, full-bodied vocal which makes these the perennial hits they are - it's an all-time classic, need we say more?

Review: There are an awful lot of great records in the J Dilla's catalogue, but few can match the consistent quality and coherent construction of Welcome 2 Detroit, his 2001 breakthrough album. Designed as a love letter to his home city with a sample palette and blend of styles to match, it saw the late producer and a string of then largely unknown local MCs showcase their vocal talents over some of his best ever beats. This lusciously expansive 20th anniversary box set does a brilliant job in expanding on the original album, with the 12 included "45s" pairing vocal mixes with instrumentals, unreleased cuts and occasional remixes. The included hardback book is brilliant, too, and packed with first-hand accounts of the creation of a now iconic LP.

Review: Dutch symphonic metal icons, Epica, deliver the ultimate fan service with the epic (excuse the pun) compilation box set,'We Still Take You With Us: The Early Years. Consisting of the band's first three, long out of print, full-lengths; 'The Phantom Agony', 'Consign To Oblivion', and, 'The Score', as well as the long sought after, 'Live At Paradiso' performance, recorded at the legendary Paradiso theatre in Amsterdam during the touring cycle of these early albums, there's no denying the care and attention to detail the band have poured into this expansive collection. Including b-sides, demos, as well as recordings from their first appearance on live Dutch television, this 11xLP beast is a vital puzzle piece/holy grail compiling of long sought-after physicals, collectively priced at a far lesser amount than any flipped singular, earlier editions.

Review: Gastr del Sol might have gone their separate ways some 25 years ago, but they have recently taken the time to dig back into their fine archives. As a result they now serve up an alternate view of their superb, boundary breaking and genre busting run between 1993 and 1998 with a title box set, We Have Dozens Of Titles, on Drag City. Returning like a reverberating bolt from the blue, this album reignites the essence of the group and immerses listeners back into the whirlwind of their transformative era. It comprises previously uncaptured studio recordings and meticulously preserved unreleased live performances that all offer a captivating glimpse into the band's journey.

Review: Armand Hammer is the New York-based duo of ELUCID and Billy Woods and now they are back with their first new album in two years. We Buy Diabetic Test Strips is a debut long player for Fat Possum and it is their biggest work yet with plenty of high-profile guest spots from the likes of JPEGMAFIA, EL-P, Kenny Segal, Black Noi$e, Preservation, DJ Haram, Child Actor, Sebb Bash, August Fanon, and more. Since they were last recording together, ELUCID and billy woods have both released critically acclaimed solo albums but show that they save some special magic for when they join up in the studio.

Review: The Wedding Present's Watusi, often overshadowed by its predecessors, emerges as a hidden gem in their discography. Initially released amidst the frenzy of their Hit Parade singles, it suffered from being ahead of its time"a blend of pop hooks and Seattle underground influences that defied easy categorisation". Yet, as fans who witnessed them revisiting it at their Brighton event recently will atest, 'Watusi' feels remarkably contemporary, its hypnotic melodies and nuanced instrumentation resonating with a neo-drone edge. While it may have been a hard sell in its era, the current lineup breathes new life into its subtle intelligence, unveiling its true brilliance. Overlooked but not forgotten, Watusi finally gets its due recognition as a key release from The Wedding Present, reaffirming its place in their storied career alongside Sea Monsters, George Best and the Hit Parade singles.

Review: 20 years is a long time in clubland, but Watergate has embodied the age old phrase that time flies when you're having fun. The Berlin institution has represented a catchy end of the tech house sound throughout its tenure, both on the dancefloor and through its long-standing in-house label. Now they celebrate their big birthday with a cute compilation taking in such massive names as Henrik Schwarz, Sasha and Anja Schneider alongside the more niche names who made major breakthroughs thanks to the club's support. Pressed on three records and featuring a mammoth 18 tracks, there's a lot of bang for your buck if you can't get enough of that Watergate sound.

How can heavy metal-ers not get excited about this one? While sporting a pretty serious price tag, this Super Deluxe edition of Black Sabbath's seminal fourth album is certainly one for the collectors, who will delight in the 11 additional studio recordings featured in the huge amount of bonus material here, which include snippets of studio dialogue, false starts and more rough around the edges nuances that bring the work to life.

As for the LP itself, it was something of a landmark moment in the band's journey - shifting the intensity and ferocity up at least three gears and then sticking a brick on the throttle to hold it in place. Perhaps Mojo's take on things puts it best; ""If booze and dope had helped fuel Sabbath's earlier albums, Vol. 4 is their cocaine ... Despite their spiraling addictions, musically Vol. 4 is another ambitious outing". Enough said.

Review: Alhaji Waziri Oshomah is a master of Afro sounds and rhythms that cut deep. He is from the Edo State in southern Nigeria and always as making music and often holds local sermons. His music was highlighted by David Bryne's always-excellent Luaka Bop label in September with World Spirituality Classics 3: The Muslim Highlife Of Alhaji Waziri Oshomah and now comes another bumper collection of his tunes. As the title suggests, Vol 1-5: 1978-1984 pulls together his best work from that six-year period across five 12"s and a special booklet.

Review: Tom Skinner and his ensemble delivered a mesmerizing performance at London's "mu" club in January 2023, featuring material from his album Voices of Bishara. The live rendition showcased a seamless blend of Skinner's compositions with pieces by Abdul Wadud, whose work served as a primary inspiration for the album. The lineup, featuring Robert Stillman and Chelsea Carmichael alongside Skinner, delved deep into the repertoire, exploring rhythmic and tonal freedom with finesse. The extended rendition of Skinner's Bishara set the tone for the evening, evoking the same sense of exploration found in Wadud's cello compositions. A highlight of the set was the ensemble's 20-minute exploration of Wadud's 'Oasis,' where Carmichael's scorching saxophone solo stole the show. The performance demonstrated the band's commitment to honoring the creative music continuum while pushing boundaries with extended improvisations and dynamic interplay. Voices of Bishara Live at 'mu provides a great glimpse into the evolution of contemporary jazz and creative expression, reaffirming Skinner and his ensemble's place within this dynamic musical landscape.

Review: Voices From The Lake is the pairing of Italian techno craftsmen and sound sculptors Donato Dozzy and Neel. They came together to do a live show at the famed Labyrinth festival in Japan and that's what gave rise to this new now seminal album. It's a deeply meditative and dubbed-out world of delicate synths and rolling drums that change only slightly and slowly but manage to keep you utterly locked in for the duration. It's pure techno that has been remastered for this new edition across eight sides of wax. An absolute modern classic for sure.

Review: French artistic and multi-instrumentalist FKJ's glossy brand of funk and soul has reached many a great height. He is by now a well known star around the world so of course the labels he has worked with decided it is now high time we looked back on his. His self-titled album French Kiwi Juice was his first long player and one that showed off the artist's incredible multi-instrumental chops. Super-sweet yet also tart sonic juices from the Franco-New Zealander, returning to this exclusive vinyl pressing.

Review: Louie Vega remains a towering presence in house music 30+ years after making his early mark. As a solo artist, he deals in soulful, Latin-tinged and musical house sounds that are lavish in arrangement and often made with real instrumentals. The Vega boss now serves up a bumper collection of previously unreleased tunes across no fewer than ten sides of vinyl. There are collaborations, remixes, demos, dubs and reworks along the way and the range in impressive - from deep and triable joints to shuffling samba sounds and back again, this is a vital collection from a real house master.

Review: For those who go gaga for (originally) ultra-limited presses, we've got you. In 1974, Hiroshi Tanaka and Yoichi Fuwa, the self-proclaimed heirs of the Beatles, crammed into a 75 square-foot room and recorded over 50 songs, all without names. Taking after the furtive experimentalism of the Fab Four's White Album, the duo laid down the Untitled White Album as an ever-more experimental companion piece (or psychotic pop-culture reaction), mimicking the Beatles' tonal inflections while adding sprinklings of madness that the former group daren't've. Widely sought-after but rarely found, this reissue from LITA comes as a second LP featuring 16 tracks that heretofore were unknown, and are now released for the first time.

Review: The mysterious Sault troupe is back with a call to action and revolutionary soul soundtrack that really bangs the box. "Ain't nothing gunna keep us silent" the lead singer yelps on 'Stop Der', which is an immediate banger after the soothing ambience and closely mic-ed whispers of the opener, which muse on what it means to be black. The rest of the record is a hard hitting mix of crisp drums and empowering vocals, with elements of classic soul as well as contemporary jazz colouring the grooves. This is powerful music with an even more powerful message.
