Review: Revered underground stalwarts Mr G and Duncan Forbes first came tother when Forbes was doing his Animated project. They bonded over music, regular record shopping trips and banter while eating duck and rice but it was only when they met at Glastonbury a few years ago that they decided to get in the studio together. Mow we have their first full-length collaborative album All Under One Moon and it was all done in one weekend at Duncan's studio with no real plan. What results is deep, atmospheric and high-class house and techno - would you expect much less?

Review: As well as being a fine producer, German artist Dominik Eulberg is also a famous naturalist, ambassador of the most popular Conservation Union in Germany the NABU, and park ranger who is very much inspired by the outdoors, and often relays that in his music. Heimische Gefilde was his second album back in 2007 and only ever on CD. It collects his best earliest works and now it gets a vinyl re-release complete with the spoken words by the man himself. The album won a German critic awards for music and remains a fine min ail and tech house document of its day.

This is the third full-length album by veteran Swedish producer Ola Obergman who has been producing since the turn of the millennium on respected imprints such as Skam, Borft and Futhur Electronix. A heavy collection of 808-based fusion in classic Pariter style, Mirror Counterpart is a cohesive effort featuring some truly impressive productions; from the early proto-house sound of the title track, to the Detroit influenced hi-tech soul cuts on the second disc - 'Indeterminacy' and 'Stellar Triangulation' respectively - going into 4/4 robot funk on the second disc with 'Alice Matter' and 'Uncertiny Principle' being the highlights. Superb.

Review: Wild Pitch Club is next up in the excellent and ling running Running Back Mastermix series. It's a legendary space that has very much defined the Frankfurt and wider german scene and was also something of a predecessor venue to the new well-loved Robert Johnson. That club was itself a place where Panorama Bar's very own nd_baumecker really made waves and it is they alongside co-founder Ata who have curated these tunes. The venue was hooked on the US sounds and often hosted the likes of Robert Hood and Claude Young to Kerri Chandler all of which shows in the sounds of the tunes.

Review: A tricksters' release - in that it's almost certainly one of those that cleverly aims to look like an old late 80s house cut, but isn't - Boo Williams' newest deep house LP 'Depths Of Life' is a subtly head-swanging swayer through leagues of tunes that defy anxiety. One can almost be guaranteed an easy ride through this album thanks to its emphasis on vibe rathe than posey complexity. Echoic laughter, sonic reflections and delayed acid lines all pepper its omnipresent, rubbery basses, with baseball organs ('Creepy') and trance tropes ('One Step Closer', 'Mortal Trance') cropping up aplenty.

Named after the party series held in the Gewolbe club in Cologne, the V/A celebrates its best exclusives heard both within the club and elsewhere on the transnational dancefloor. The likes of Rising Sun, DJ Koze and Robag Whrume are interspersed with closer-to-the-ground names like Proskauer Slide, Pom Pom and Wassermann and all tracks are specially selected for their dreamy, soft quality. Review: WORKSHOP 32 has been a long time coming - not least as this is Kassem Mosse's first solo outing on Workshop since 2014. And what a way to return, presenting a full-length album that reflects the evolution of the artist while not denying any of the ideas and sounds and styles that first made us fall in love with him all those moons ago. A broad and varied celebration of off-centre electronic music that has as much right to be on the dancefloor as it does on a movie soundtrack. So what does that sound like? Well, in the case of 'Track 2', it's a skeletal toybox tech workout, while 'Track 6' takes us into deep and surrealist house music. Elsewhere, ''Track 7' explodes into a carnival of percussion and bleep, 'Track 4' offers lunging curveball fours, bassline seeming to bore holes in the very ground you're stomping on. Always pared back, but never truly minimal, it's one of 2023's earliest classics.

Review: Fans of his Detroit techno veteran Gary Martin's previous releases on labels like Motech, KMS and Exceptional will not be disappointed by this latest offering from one of the Motor City's most underrated talents. The full-length LP Lagarius shows off Martin's knack for blending funk, soul and Afro-Latin influences, with a faster-tempo'ed techno sound. It's heavy on the detail, with arguably only trained ears being able to pick up on all its backing samples and intricacies (that's us, of course). Review: Top Rhythm Boppers return with a third standout release, this time from Papolious Jones who we are told aims to "transmit the sounds of a parallel reality, where nature and computers live united in harmony." He succeeds, too, with a selection of body-bopping electro infused with talk box robot voices from deep within a mystic forest in a celestial sky. Review: Following releases by Thai minimal producer DOTT and label chief Rudoh, Jugaar Records is back this time with a full-length, double-pack vinyl, bringing together friends from Asia and Europe. The record is truly indicative of where the Asian electronic music landscape finds itself at present, and the fresh sounds they are capable of. We particularly enjoyed Joe Koshin's late '90s styled big beat on "Astro Wax", London minimalist Voigtmann getting those classic house sounds in effect on the groovy "Time Waits For No Man", while Egyptian gem Hassan Abou Alam delvers some experimental post club music on "Gloom" and Aussie Shedbug serves up the evocative progressive breaks of "A Lil Piece".

Review: Anyone with an ear to the underground will be familiar with the name Kenny Hawkes. The late great house artists had a great influence on the scene and that legacy lives on through close friends such as Classic Music Company boss Luke Solomon, with whom he ran the legendary Wednesday night party Space from 1995-2002. Here Luke has linked up with Space regulars Jonny Rock and Leon Oakey to curate a loveling selected mix of tunes that pay tribute to Hawkes. Space Part 1 is a must for house fans - there is steamy deep stuff from Hawkes himself, post-rave dreamscape material from Cine City, punchy tech house done right and booming, and loopy grooves for dancefloor hypnosis. We hope there will be many more to come after this great first installment.

This mammoth six-LP set will give you a lot of music to work with, and it's featuring a dizzying cast of high-end operators starting with the mighty Stephen Brown. Each track gets a side of vinyl to itself, serving as a kind of statement for how much faith the label put in each of these 12 tracks. Amongst the best on this top-drawer comp are Daniel Avery's metallic, spellbinding 'Your Future Looks Different In The Light' and Carl Finlow's lithe electro workout 'Surface Control', but as you might well expect each track is one you'll turn to again and again to give your mix some spice.

Review: BufoBufo aka. Ben Murphy debuts his first LP on Altered Sense, breaking away from his own self-run label Ritual Poison for a long-form demonstration of ambient breakbeat in multiple movements. At first cochlear glance, each track here appears as simple ambient braindance a-la Global Communication or Kid Spatula, but the progression of each tune is much more fleshed out than what would normally be expected of your run-of-the-mill Apollo Records wannabe. 'Water Scorpion' is the post-rave reesey highlight, while 'Starmetal' continues into uncharted techstep trance territory.

Review: Frost and Einzelkind's Pressure Traxx captures the evolution of minimal tech house over the past ten years, as the rigour of functional 4/4 gave way to different rhythms and motifs from the wider dance music lexicon. It was a smart move which helped reinvigorate the scene, and while they didn't do it on their own they absolutely fuelled the fire. Ten years in, their label is certainly due a retrospective which stretches out over eight sides of next-level workouts for long blends and marathon sets. The cast of characters hardly needs explaining - from Tobias and Villalobos to Edward and John Dimas, the quality never lets up and in one smartly arranged box set you're going to be gifted with the finest minimal in recent circulation.

Review: Distrikt Paris head honcho Bassam is back with a superb double album that defines his own unique take on the underground. It is genre-defying and widescreen in its cope as it flows freely from sound to sound. 'Electronic Rhapsody' is a superb symphony of lush synth design and airy breakbeats that keep you suspended in space. 'Apres Faut Aimer La Fete' brings twisted acid to slick tech house beats and 'Sos Marrakech' brings a more retro synth sound with crashing hits and stiff, angular rhythms. Elsewhere are more poppy sounding melodies and synths on 'Panorama Vision' and a turbocharged future tech cut 'LAP Memory' (40ine mix) is another late nightlight.

Review: Cologne's legendary Kompakt label has been rolling out these superb compilations for many years now. The 23rd instalment is another fine snapshot of the more matter and grown up end of the tech, minimal and techno spectrum with plenty of familiar faces as well s new school stars. Boss man Michel Mayer opens up with the bright melodies and swinging grooves of 'Talmi' before Jurgen Paape keeps it deep and delicious with more easy going grooves and keys. Elsewhere a Sofia Kourtesis remix if Perel brings more dancefloor ready sounds and Reinhard Voigt's 'Endlich XXL' (feat Eduard Weber) is a freaky one for the afters.

Review: Eddie Richards is one of the original pioneers behind the first wave of proper tech house, the came out of South London in the 90s at parties like Wiggle and clubs like fabric. As well as being a fierce DJ who could lock you into cutting-edge grooves for days, he is also a top producer with a vast back catalogue. Testament to that is the fact that Repeat has put out three volumes of his work under the title After All. I Crucial stuff for anyone across the house and techno spectrum who needs that top-quality fire to make a floor take notice.

This is a truly timeless release which really captures the zeitgeist of the most seminal period in techno's recent history. For those that know, we know we're preaching to the choir, but to those who don't - get familiar! From the classic hi-tech soul of the title track, to the moody future funk of 'Nocturnal' and the driving Motor City energy of 'Catatonic (First State)' and more - Metaphor has certainly held its own 26 years later. Review: Paradise 3001 enjoyed something of a revival when some of his classic work were picked up by Banoffee Pies for an EP back in 2020. The work of one Aad de Mooy, Paradise 3001 has a huge legacy in the realm of early trance music, and now this collection on Sound Metaphors travels back into that golden early 90s era in detail, presenting 10 tracks across two discs with tracks from his classic releases and lesser spotted rarities alike. Given the prevalence of trance in modern club music, you know full well these varied, mellow and trippy nuggets will be finding favour amongst all manner of spinners, from back room beatniks to big room bosses.

Review: The Perlon and Mule Musiq-associated Wareika trio show off their considerable skills once more here with an effortless blend of electronic and organic sounds across two extended pieces. There is one on each side on Tizinabi and each is rooted in dub and house but embellished with classical instruments such as guitar and piano. The flow here is unreal as new melodies, moods and grooves unfurl before your very ears and Wareika keeps on threading together hypnotic synth lines and smooth percussion into ever more compelling sonic tapestries. Review: Frenchman Rodriguez Jnr moved from his native Paris to the sunny climes of Miami not long after the pandemic. He had already started recording the music that features on this new album before he left, and finished it off in the US. You can hear the influence of both settings as he cuts more loose than ever before. His signature synth craft and elegant melodies remain, but there are also collabs with hip-hop's Stereo MCs, his own partner Liset Alea who is an esteemed vocalist, and Giorgia Angiuli. It adds up to a super smooth and sophisticated album with plenty of earworms.
