Review: Since launching in 2013, Jennifer and Lowris' Aeternum Music imprint has established itself as one of the standout labels on the Parisian techno scene. Here, the label delivers its first compilation: a quietly impressive double-pack featuring tracks from seven members of the growing Aeternum family. There's naturally much to admire throughout, from the weird, bass-heavy wonkiness of Cabanne's quirky opener, "Karim", to the woozy, techno-influenced, analogue deep house shuffle of Seuil's "Elevate". Elsewhere, Martinez impresses with a chunk of sub-heavy tech-house bounce ("Minor Box Solution"), and Yakine takes a trip into space via the intergalactic shuffle of "MoonTalk".

Having already released three EPs for the label, including his 2008 debut and recent jam, Cheesecake," the talented producer has become an important label ambassador at live dates across the world. Now, he delivers his first LP for the imprint, and his third album overall.The aptly titled Paradigm Shift sees Martinez assimilate an abundance of deep house references into his usual palette of minimal and techno. Alongside lush moments of deepness such as the inimitable "Lavender Mist" and polished "Maresias," Martinez treats us to the warm and contented sounds of "Gourmet". Intertwining the record with bursts of funk laden electronics, such as "Solaris," "Kamino" and "Mr Decocco," Martinez is also explosive at all the right times: "Damaged Color's" slinky low bass and the driving beat of "Williamsburg" both point to a more club focused angle, giving the record yet more amiable balance.

Review: Lisbon's Assemble Music has wonderfully curated the deeper side of house and techno over its seven year existence, presenting some wonderful EPs by the likes of Vera & Ricardo Villalobos, STL, Hakim Murphy and Altitude. For the third instalment of their Assembling various artists series, they've presented a diverse array of talents such as: retro-futurist producer Reedale Rise who serves up some emotive electro on "Distant Object", Frankfurt based collaborators Markus Sommer & Felix Kluge who go deep on the minimal house journey "Narkolepsie" and on the flip, Finest Hour's Onirik does his thing on the bleepy retro techno freak-out "Gangsta Patrol".

Review: The SlapFunk crew have another new recruit for their mission to match minimal dance aesthetics with tough old-skool punch. Danish producer Martinez has plenty of experience having released everywhere from Guidance to Moon Harbour and Minibar, and he sounds right at home freaking the funk for the Dutch contingent. There's a straight up strut to the jacking drums on opener "Inter Species Relations", while "Aspired Commotion" slips into the kind of wriggling shuffle you'd expect from a SlapFunk release. "No Data" adopts a skippy 2-step stance with some eerie textures on top, and then "Shanty Town" finishes the record off with more swinging business peppered with delightful keys.

Review: The Drifted Flow label made an early move in 2015 with a release from Tommy Vicari Jnr, but now returns with an entirely different premise - an eight-track double pack of fresh, invigorating minimal house jams from lesser-known and adventurous producers. Henry Hyde gets the collection off to a strong start with the wobbly funk of "Perchin," all dirty bass wobble and loose swinging rhythms. Elsewhere Martinez flirts with the crooked thump of electro, Alicia Hush wriggles through an abstraction of garage and Bilal channels a little of the Boogizm magic you might expect from S-Max or Fym. Overall, it's a release loaded with personality and flair for minimal spinners wanting some spicier ingredients for their mix.

Review: London's Subsequent are back, the promising new label has really got off on the right foot this year with some great releases thus far by Barbir & Nicola Kazimir and SHKNTOY but now it's over to Danish minimal hero Martinez; a veteran producer who over the last fifteen years has released on labels as diverse as Guidance, Moon Harbour and Cadenza. Starting out in explosive fashion with the bumpy and hypnotic roller "Squabbled" which will appeal to fans of FUSE London or Memoria, he then gets deep down and dirty on the lo-fi minimal house jam "Wallflower". On the flip we've got some sombre and emotive reduced electro in the form of "Chemtrail" which is perfect for that Berlin afterhour vibe.

Review: Breda, Netherlands based record store and label Memoria offers us some quality minimal house here from four esteemed artists. Martinez has been at it for a few years now and delivers the chunky "Keppont" while Romanian VID, following up releases on Pleasure Zone and An dromeda gives us the pristine production that is "Etime" with its mesmerising melody. On the flip we've got Cumsecade Inchele with his remix of "Titlu & Poveste". We don't know what it means, but can assure you it sounds wicked; tight drum programming beneath a haunting and persisting chord. Finally Stathis Lazarides takes things to a more deeper, abstract groove on "Stepping Up" which proudly wears its Perlon influence on its sleeve. Tip!

Review: Martinez, the Swedish producer, needs no introduction. On this 3rd Floor release Martinez brings three tracks. "Mistlur" combines old and new, layering tons of hypnotic and enchanting sounds that twirl in and out on top of the warm, driving bassline. "Sliderglider" represents the minimal and bouncy sound on this 12". The primary bassline is deep and driving and requires plenty of room, but the accompanying effects and synths have a more minimal feel to them, thus resulting in a very effective sound. "101 Regards" finishes off this electronic slaughter in a very hypnotic and building fashion. The siren-ish theme synth continually builds itself up, then, tears itself down, leaving the listener in a state of trance.

Review: Copenhagen-based Martinez launched Concealed Sounds last year as a platform for expressing the deeper and more experimental side of his house and techno productions. Given that the debut release swiftly sold out at Juno you can call it a rousing success, and this second release from Martinez for the label should prove similarly popular. Bucking convention it's the Sylphe Lydlos Dub from Sylphe pairing Holdie Gawn & Micawber that resides on the A Side, racking up a weighty thirteen minutes of trippy modular sound design in the vein of a playful Villalobos. The original is a few minutes shorter but comes packing a rather satisfying broken techno groove and some truly deep sub bass rhythms.
