Review: Chris Tietjen has long been a valued member of the Cocoon family, and mixed his first CD for the Frankfurt-based label way back in 2006. Here he celebrates a decade of collaboration with a tenth and apparently final mix for the imprint. Partly designed as a look back over the label's releases over the past 10 years, Zehn comes across like a labour of love. Densely packed with tracks - he impressively squeezes some 36 selections into 70 minutes, showcasing work from a veritable who's who of techno talent - it offers a typically fluid, atmospheric, late night-friendly chug through tech-house, minimal and European after-party hypnotism.

Review: Christian Loffler's 2012 debut album, A Forest, was something of a gem; a yearning collection of shuffling, melodic, occasionally introspective compositions that offered a headphone-friendly take on deep house and hypnotic Germanic techno. This follow-up, said by Loffler to have been recorded while on tour and "semi-autobiographical" in nature, delivers more of the same. Given that Loffler's enveloping, immersive production style is particularly attractive, this is undoubtedly good news. Highlights are plentiful, from the woozy, scratchy, building tech-house bliss of "Mt Grace", and twinkling pianos of "Alpine Sketch", to the heart aching melancholy of the sublime "Notes".

Review: It's some 11 years since Franco-German trio Rework impressed with their stylish debut album Fall Right Now, and seven since their last full-length, Pleasure Is Pretty. You Play, then, is long overdue. Interestingly, it sees them blending their usual minimal wave, dark synth pop, skewed deep house and scratchy minimal techno influences with a new-found love of hypnotic, tech-house influenced dancefloor grooves (an unsurprising move, given that this album is appearing on Visionquest, rather than long-term home Playhouse). It's a move that largely pays dividends, delivering an enjoyably stylish set of club tracks that brings their unique trademark sound bang up to date.

Review: While he's barely paused for breath in the last decade, it's still been eight years since Fumiya Tanaka delivered his last album, Unknown 3. The epitome of long overdue, You Find The Key is his fourth album. Interestingly, it sees the 44 year-old, Japanese producer tweaking his now familiar bass-heavy minimal techno blueprint. Thrillingly, the bass lines are bolder and jauntier, and the beats jazzier, resulting in an altogether funkier take on the minimal techno style. Of course, there are still moments that recall his previous work - see the deep and dubby "Swallowed Memory" - but it's those that take a sideways step towards funk-fuelled pastures ("Munich Uncertain", "The Only Your Researching") that stand out.

Review: Recorded during lockdown - hence the rather apocalyptic title - and made in part using a different set of hardware and software tools than his previous work, Year of the Living Dead has a slightly different feel than John Tejada's previous full-length excursions. Of course, his fine grasp of mood and melody remains a major feature, as does his love of warming ambient chords and dreamy electronics, but these elements are twisted round a wider variety of rhythms (think mutant electro, post-dubstep UK bass, UK garage and dub techno), with warm, deep and rich sub-bass coming to the fore throughout. Tejada rarely misses the mark, of course, but there's a surprising freshness to the album that means you'd do well to sit up and take notice.

Review: Remix albums tend to fall into two categories; ill conceived and lazy, or brilliantly thought out and executed. Fortunately, XI Versions of Black Noise is the latter. Admittedly, the source material in this case was special - Pantha Du Prince's widely acclaimed experimental minimalist opus Black Noise - but that in itself is no guarantee of success. Yet with such an impressive line-up of talent involved - Lawrence, De Vogel, Animal Collective etc - there was little chance of this being a flop. Shifting between symphonic house (The Sight Below), dub wise techno (Moritz Von Oswald in surprisingly upbeat mood), clanking aural assault (the Hieroglyphic Being), creeping delirium (the Walls) and everything-but-the-kitchen-sink craziness (Four Tet), XI Versions Of Black Noise is a riotously entertaining collection.

Review: Gabor Schablitzki has long been one of European techno's most underrated talents. Although rightly celebrated within the underground techno community, he's yet to achieve much in the way of wider acclaim, either as a DJ, or for his productions under the more familiar Robag Wruhme and Wighomy Brothers monikers (the latter alongside Soren Bodner). In many ways it's a shame, because his particular take on the German minimal sound - soft, melodic, warm and shuffling, with just a hint of swing to the percussion - is far more attractive than the stripped back darkness favoured by many of his contemporaries. Whether you're a confirmed fan or a first-timer, you'll find plenty to enjoy on Wuppdeckmischmampflow, his first solo DJ mix for Kompakt. Like 2008's similarly wonderful Wighomy Brothers mix MetawuffmischfelgeA.A., it inhabits a kind of strange no-man's land between DJ mix and production showcase, with individual tracks taken apart, reworked and fused with others to create one smooth, winding hour-long journey. So, for example, tracks by Villalobos, Tiefschwarz and Schablitzki himself merge to make one beautifully melodic whole, before dropping effortlessly into an FX-laden version of Chateau Flight's "Cosmic Race". With tracks by Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts, Claro Intellecto, Four Tet, Koze, Moderat and Ian Simmonds getting a similar treatment, the results are rarely less than spellbinding.

Review: Collections of remixes can be a hit-and-miss affair, but few could find fault with this collection of sterling reworks from the warped mind of Radio Slave, AKA darkroom tech-house titan Matt Edwards. For the last half decade he's consistently hit the mark with a veritable skip-full of epic remixes perfectly pitched at dingy basements and White Isle terraces alike. This excellent three-disc set presents 22 of those reworks in their entirety, showcasing wonky anthems, brain-melting grooves and, on occasion, thrillingly melodic mixes (see the version of Slam's "Azure") that turn previously blissful tracks into nightmarish beasts. Highly recommended.

Review: New York-based South African Brendon Moeller has enjoyed a long and distinguished career, impressing with a post Basic Channel take on techno that adds cute melodies and warm chords to typically sludgy, bottom-heavy grooves. Works is his first album proper under his given name, and gathers together 10 cuts that neatly display the breadth of his talents. For the most part, it's a fluid and languid set, delivering tracks that sit somewhere between dub techno, melodic European minimal, IDM and the futuristic warmth of Detroit. While floor-friendly, there are enough downtempo diversions and positive melodies to ensure that it won't sound out of place on your home stereo.
