Review: Shewey Trax welcomes California-based Delicate Instruments aka Delinstr for a pair of cosmic new cuts that he serves up as two different mixes each. Opener '2 Another Planet' (Superspace Breakdown mix) has sugary video game melodies raining down like old school Mario or Tetris over thudding deep house kicks. The Delisntr Speed Down mix brings some twitchy acid details while 'Solamente' (Problems mix) is another beguiling mix of 8-bit melodies and supple drums that tap out hypnotic patterns while floating through space. The final Synth mix of the same cut is a more widescreen and far-sighted take to close out a perfectly astral EP.

Review: Mathew Dexter invites us into his singular techno sound world with this fresh new EP which inaugurates the new Subplanet label. 'New World opens up with main room vibes and nice arpeggios that have a hint of Italo charm to them. 'Godspeed' then layers up more hypnotic synth sequences to build a sense of unresolved tension over darker and more edgy beats. 'Sunbeam' offers a more heady vibe with some mystic flute style leads up top and transcendental synths that warp and weft to great effect. 'Retrograde is a prickly, bouncy, textured closer with euro-centric synths and plenty of melodic colour.

Review: Big Love records assembles four talented artists for the 5th edition of A touch of love. The compilation opens with Seamus Haji's 'Dance With Me', a spirited house track featuring Kathy Brown's powerful vocals and a driving beat. Illyus & Barrientos contribute 'Wait' featuring Phebe Edwards, a melodic house track with disco influences, soaring strings and rhythmic percussion. The B-side features Richard Earnshaw & Mr V's 'This House Is Yours', a party-ready disco house track perfect for the dancefloor. DJ Meme's 'Century' concludes the compilation with a deeper, more melodic offering. Together, these four tracks offer some great opportunities to make a dancefloor happy.

Review: Nine years after they dropped one of their most well-known and pivotal EPs, Frankey & Sandrino reissue it on the mighty Innervisions. Their Acamar EP arrived in 2015 and really took the pair behind it up a level with its meticulously crafted house sounds, serene melodies and general sense of electronic elegance. It perfectly defined the Innervisions sound back then and still very much aligns with it now. 'Acamar' is a free-roaming cut for blissed-out 5am listening and tranced-out dancefloors. 'Lukida' has a slightly more whimsical feel and elastic bassline. This version comes on nice orange vinyl.

Review: Christopher Ledger continues to broaden the scope of his sound as a producer by bringing unabashed breakbeat acid into the folds of his broader tech house trajectory. There's still a pervasive deepness to 'Access Denied', no matter how big the beats or how wriggly the synth lines are. 'Nala's Groove' has a proggy tint to it, and 'From Above' rolls along in gorgeous blooms of synth work and deft percussion. Clearly the inspiration of classic 90s-styled beats worked their way into Ledger's production process, and he's made them his own.

Review: Four tracks of typically heavy-browed breakbeat pessimism from the dark lord Cristoph De Babalon, alternating between pummelling, shellshocked beatdowns and more expansive, misty-eyed catharsis, like a hellish train ride in and out of worming tunnel networks. 'Backward Gallop' is a particularly juicy cut, with surgically spliced breakbeat shrapnel superimposed on washy, pensive pads and snarling FM subs. Track three, 'Die Taufe Der Zombies' - that's the christening of zombies to you and I - is a similarly loose and compelling affair, with churchy murmurings and droopy sub hits coming like a far mardier, more twisted version of T Power's 'Indigo'. Review: The present face of IDM is here heard occupied by dream duo D'Arcangelo and Karsten Plum, whose latest joint effort for Acid Avengers bowls us over with its acid tweezings, pangs, twingings, twangs, thrums and flits-past. The pH scale skyrockets to the point of insanity on Pflum's side, with 'Hornfish Acid' and 'Aroe Acid' jointly corroding the full length of the Earth's core with their snippy but incisive sizzles and 'ows, until we reach a forbidden underworld uncannily reminiscent of Oz - except the faces of the protagonists are horribly twisted into a yellow, illegal-raved rictuses. D'Arcangelo's 'Gawain' does equally as much with its eerie sprung-verbed chroma-chords and muted but moving melodies; so too does 'Walker Two' raise the tempo to silly speeds, coming as a veritable velociraptor of Druqks-y breaks and drill bits, all let loose from the barrel at a surely illegal rate of fire.

Review: Acid Machines Vol 1 by G303 is the latest release by the long time Dutch label Zodiak Commune and these four tracks, combined, add up to one heck of a wicked acid techno record. 'Acid Dropping' is a crushing piece of acid trance. 'Power Corrupts' is a breakneck speed techno killer - you've got to love the classic Belgium sounding doom to it, it takes us right back to 1992. ' Beelzebub Rising' is a nasty breakbeat heater that is sure to pound down some doors when played loudly. The Squarepusher like 'Walk On By' adds a nice comedown IDM touch to the close of this vinyl. This release includes a poster and is limited to 200 copies only.

Review: Repeat's 'All & All' series is doing a great job in documenting the immense contribution that UK tech-house pioneer Terry Francis has made to the electronic underground. The genius of Francis's work of the late 90s and 2000s is how it presented a form of purist tech-house that drew as much from classic US deep house as the stargazing futurism of techno. This fifth instalment in the series boasts three decidedly deep excursions. Side A sports 'Loving You', an ultra-dreamy and immersive affair from 2001 that wraps deep house elements around a typically chunky and hypnotic groove. Over on the B-side, the echoing male vocal snippets, sumptuous pads and bubbly electronics of 'Strong Woman' are followed by the slightly more dubby (and even dreamier) brilliance of 1999's 'Love In'.

Review: Joe Babylon's cultured US label Roundabout Sounds has never rushed music out but when it does serve up new material it is always timeless and top quality. This latest EP is the first installment in the new All Hands series and it features some real house heavyweights. Frits Wentink kicks off with the mystic and lo-fi depths of 'Jellyfish, then DJ Aakmael layers up his soft edge chords and cuddly kicks drums with some muted horn motifs that bring the romance. The label head brings some upright drums and spoken word lyrics for a beautifully warm sound and last of all Detroit royalty Rick Wilhite links with Jon Easley for a final blissed-out and breezy deep house day dream.

It's a drum & bass excursion that operates at the darker and menacing end of the spectrum and opens with the eerie bell hits of 'All Talk' (feat Overlook). Thrilling breaks soon take over as the turbulence synths grow ever more wild and 'Stallion' then mixes up fizzing synth chaos with tight, kinetic drum programming. Review: The NOID imprint out of Belgium returns with its second vinyl drop, and this time takes you into some serene realms of breakbeat-driven pleasure court yes of Dave NA. His Altura EP opens with 'Escape', a wide open and airy mix of wispy synths and dusty, floating breaks. 'Elevation' has a more churning rhythm and dubby undercurrent and 'Pulse' (feat Freq444) has a hypnagogic feel, smeared vocal cries and more raw percussive patterns. 'Novox' (feat Freq444) shuts down with the most heavy and moody breakfast of the lot, a certain jungle swagger and plenty of heavy bass.

Review: Alton Miller doesn't get spoken about as much as he should - he is a genuine Detroit pioneer who played the city's earliest house parties and decades later he is still turning out authentic and emotive deep house. Here he debuts on Mister Bear Records, a new imprint out of Berlin. First up is 'Am Forplay', a mid-tempo roller with heady chords slowly moving through the scales next to smoky vocal coos. 'For Me' is a more edgy and energetic sound with wispy pads darting about like fireflies over more percussive, tech-leaning drums. Last but not least is our standout - 'Sweet Love' (dub) with its delightful vocal and shuffling, cuddly deep house drums soon hypnotising you.

Review: Analogue is the Greek label which takes no prisoners in its pursuit of pure techno perfection and that's abundantly clear on this latest Various Artists drop, as Dax J kicks into gear with the searing, pummelling intensity of 'Ares'. It's a proper fist-shaker which sets you up for the hi-octane rumble of Kaiser's 'Kal' and ANFS' industrial jackhammer 'Amete'. That leaves Jerm to clean up with another weapons grade sheller driving ever-downwards in the ultimate ticket to peak time submission. This is techno in the toughest sense of the word - a very specific sound executed perfectly.

Review: Dimi Angelis makes a fine statement with his 13th release via the ANGLS label and it is packed with raw, authentic beats across four robust tracks that are destined to captivate dancefloors. The A-side features 'Shadowland' which immediately ensnares listeners with its lasso-like loops and spatial nuances. Meanwhile, 'Intergalactic' ignites the dancefloor with its mechanical noise assault and superbly uses the 909 to build suspense with punchy rhythms. Flipping to the B-side, 'Crionics' plunges you into a deep sonic abyss where tension abounds and finally 'Ice Warrior' concludes the journey with abstract yet fulfilling frequencies. Review: Aniara's white label number four delivers more techno goodness direct to the dance floor. The A-side features two of Arkajo's most compelling dance-floor tracks, with both offering a propulsive groove and warped and dubbed-out basslines. On the flip side, Dorisburg and Efraim Kent (who are here making their debut on Aniara) present the darker vibes of 'Data Smuggler' which rides on broken beats and has real menace in the airwaves. Review: Skygaze has some recent tunes remixed on this new Flumo Limited 12" and the results are nice and varied. The opener is from Allysha Joy who flips 'Night Heat' into a lively broken beat run through with warming and soulful synths and a sprinkling of percussion. 'Gimme Five' (Jailed Jamie & Lorenzo Soria remix) then ups the ante with a party-starting house vibe and fiery stabs. 'Wagwan' gets a fresh dose of broken beats from Divorce From New York that will have you flailing your limbs in all directions and Sofatalk & Footnote then keep things a little deeper with their jazzy and sun-kissed take on 'Minor Mood'. 'City Cathedratics' is the final cut and becomes a cosmic and heady, percussive and shimmering late-night sound thanks to the work of Karmasound remix.

Review: Deep atmospheric jungle is definitely having a moment right now with labels such as Omni Music and Codename RCRDS and Deep Jungle incubating some outstanding art, Kid Drama and DJ Trace's Nine Windows project setting benchmarks and, way ahead at the forefront, Soul Intent doing what he's been doing for the best part of 20 years. Atmospherics is the perfect example. His deepest and most cosmic of albums, the full trip is an epic sci-fi odyssey that sucks you in on an iMax level. These four cuts are some of the most clubbier-minded cuts, especially for the vinyl heads. From the hurricane breaks of the title track to the jazzy rolling drums of 'Dying Star', this is an exceptional snapshot of an incredible album.

This one kicks off with the lush prog house and silky synth arps of 'Mind Charger' which soon takes you to the stars. 'Metamorphosis' is a more raw-edged and acid-laced techno stomper for peak time action and 'Summer Nights' is a bubbling, elastic tapestry of new age overtones, thudding kicks, and trance-tinged pads. Review: This is the reissue of 2021's of the house music record Basement Grooves Volume 1 by Call Eden. After the first run of copies, the demand continued to slowly build as many couldn't resist wanting a copy of this excellent EP. All four pieces offer something special for that late night house music lover. Fans of labels like Nu Groove, Strictly Rhythm and the like will surely gravitate to gems like the beautiful 'La Riviera' and the Wild Pitch sound of 'Frome'. The B-sides are not just fillers either. We really like the groove on 'Gum' especially. This version comes on red vinyl to differentiate itself from the first edition.

2022's stunning album Once Twice Melody was a fine example of Beach House doing what they do best - living bang up to that name, with intimate-but epic instrumentation falling somewhere between surf-y jangle and grand shoegaze. 'Become' is definitely on a similar tip, and as such feels much like an extension of the long form.
Dig a little deeper, though, and scratches begin to show. While the full-length record represented Beach House reaching for the stars, or at least the moon, and stepping into the role of festival headliners, here the sense of pure confidence and occasion is less pronounced. That may not be a bad thing, mind, because while Once came across like a finished article, refined and prepared, things here seem somehow rawer, as though we're sitting in on a session as oppose to getting the signed off product.

Review: The talented Greek duo Artificial DRM - already renowned for their contributions to Koslif, De Stijl and Semantica Records - come through for the sixth Alpengluhen release. 'Enigma' is a curious experimental, IDM and ambient release, neither settling for out-and-out categorisability nor giving up the danceable ends of things and happily resting in the crosstalk between genres. All circling around similar tempi but with some variation therein, these four unnamed tracks reveal themselves, together with their textural details, only as slowly as a desert landscape might reveal itself to a parched wanderer; only through somatic repetitions, such as endless walking, panting, and squinting - compare these to deep listening and/or uninterrupted turntable playing - might we make out the mirages or fata morgana through the horizontal heat haze.

Review: Law & Auder's latest release, Big It Up/Boomstick, is a two-track EP that showcases their unique blend of jungle and liquid drum and bass. The A-side, 'Big It Up,' is a high-energy track with a fun, reggaeton-inspired melody and plenty of samples. The B-side, 'Boomstick,' is a more atmospheric track with an eerie melody, a big Amen break, and a deep, throbbing bassline. Law And Auder's production skills and their ability to create music that is both danceable and thought-provoking. This record gives major old skool hardcore vibes.

Review: The mighty Big Miz is back on Shall Not Fade with more of that bright and bold peak-time house music he's made his name on over the past eight years or so. Much like his releases on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and his own Miz Records, across the Friends FM EP the highly-rated producer smartly balances deep house warmth, crafty modern production and big room presence, but the difference here is this time he's not doing it alone. On the A-side Miz links up with Bessa, while on the flip he trades licks and loops with Hayley Zalassi and Van Damn, but whoever's in the co-pilot seat that distinctive Big Miz sheen comes gleaming through the mix every time.

Review: 'Blue Train' is created by Piero and is the second release from the newly formed label, My Cup Of Tea. Piero, who is also the label owner, gives us four tracks of deep house that blend jazzier notes along with seductive grooves. The title track is an upbeat, pumping late-night gem that blends some vocals along with a smooth saxophone sample, 'Nikes On My Feet' adds a cool broken-beat rhythm to the mixture while still being pretty darn techy and funky and we love the use of the acid line that balances out the jazz sounds. For the B-side you have original version of 'International Language' along with a remix of it by Carlo (Carlos Alvarez). You can't go wrong with either version as a DJ. My Cup Of Tea is off to a strong start for sure.

Review: A real doozy of an early Italo, proto-darkwave heater from Fred Ventura-led Fokewulf 190, bound to illicit dancefloor devastation any darn time of year. Straddling the boundary between the more uptempo chapters of Italo and the more austere permutations of synth pop, Fokewulf's timeless anthem lends itself well to DJ Tin Tin and Flemming Dalum's respectful but gently modernised remixes. If anything though, they cast the original in a more innovative light, with its sparse, classy drive.

Review: Nu Zau & Sepp return to Gettraum after previously featuring on the label's recent compilation, this time with more of their groovy tech house sounds. Sepp kicks off with 'Recognize That' which pairs acid-tinged synths with thumping drums and some nice analogue percussive clatter. On the flip, Nu Zau's 'I See You' is a balmy, breezy cut with dubby low ends, silvery tech drums and nice fractured vocals stretched throughout the mix next to happy melodies. The label head Traumer steps up to remix and flips this one into a deeper, more heads-down cut for the late-night hours.
