Review: In the wake of their acclaimed return with This Is What We Do last year, Leftfield take a loop back around for a great tradition of dance music LPs - the dub remix album. Leftfield's sound has always displayed an affinity for Jamaican music culture, and so it makes perfect sense to hear their latest works run through the echo chamber to make for a wholly different, and reliably excellent listen. From blissful ambience to heavyweight, head-nodding soundsystem rhythms, this is a worthy record in its own right. When paired with the more upfront OG version it's a strong reminder of how potent a force Leftfield remain within the album-oriented dance music sphere.

Review: Thirteen studio albums in, and 'Colors' sees Beck maybe at his most playful and upbeat since the late '90s. Title track 'Colors' opens the albums with an immediacy that bursts out like a heavily polished 'Devil's Haircut'. The album veers off in all kinds of pop directions, from the anthemic 'Seventh Heaven', to the almost trap-like 'Wow', Beck shows he's willing to experiment and wrangle as much as possible into an album. It might not be his most contemplative record, but it's definitely his glossiest and most entertaining in a while, and promises a rollercoaster ride from start to finish.

Last year he shipped himself and various key creative producers to Rio to build a document that celebrates every quarter of Brazil's broad sound by way of 18 original productions. You can gauge the scale of someone's famedom purely on whether or not they've appeared in South Park. Lorde didn't just feature, her animated stint saw one of the show's longest-running characters, Randy Marsh, admit that he was in fact the New Zealand pop sensation. If that's not recognition of global recognition, we don't know what is.
Seven years on and clearly Lorde wants her worldwide legions of fans to know something. Namely the fact that she's done with mainstream chart sounds and looking for something deeper, more personal and stylistically experimental. Enter Solar Power, the difficult third which she manages to make her most original and touching with apparent effortless ease. Of course there's still a lot of melody and accessibility involved here - 'Mood Ring' and 'Secrets From A Girl (Who's Seen It All)' are particularly number-one-friendly. But the surreal and dreamy 'Big Star', 'Leader Of A New Regime' - which almost feels like a quiet Queen number - and crystalline layered vocals on 'Fallen Fruit' tell a new story.

Enter Solar Power, the difficult third which she manages to make her most original and touching with apparent effortless ease. Of course there's still a lot of melody and accessibility involved here - 'Mood Ring' and 'Secrets From A Girl (Who's Seen It All)' are particularly number-one-friendly. But the surreal and dreamy 'Big Star', 'Leader Of A New Regime' - which almost feels like a quiet Queen number - and crystalline layered vocals on 'Fallen Fruit' tell a new story.
