How You Feel (For Me) (7:52)
Review: Feel-good minimal from Rico Friebe and Rico Puestel on faux-gold-foiled 12" vinyl, who lend their signature style a surprise French touch. Echoing timeless Thomas Bangalter, 'How You Feel (For Me)' is a detuned synth sweeping swathe of chord and offbeat hat, all centring on a hypnotic repetitious acknowledgement of how the listener feels. The B-side features said acapella, in all its standalone emotive glory. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether we're being told how to feel or whether we're being asked, but with a banger such as this one, we're not inclined to care about the difference!

Parallax (5:01)
Review: Frame Of Mind has been one of the best techno and house labels in the past couple years hailing from the Netherlands. This is the second appearance for Synaptic Voyager on the label in total. 'Epoch Ten' exhibits a premier example of the quality ambient techno the label has released in recent years. Fans of As One, FBA, Stasis and Sensurreal are sure to gravitate toward this track in particular. The 90s Detroit vibe is here in many respects. 'Ne Plus Ultra' and 'Reverie' are perfect tributes to the lineage there. The robot funk in 'Milestone' is particularly exciting with this early 90s styled foray into UK techno while 'Parallax' gives off a heavy Innovator and early Warp label impressions. If you are a fan of ambient techno then this is a quick and easy pickup.

Patterns (Donato Dozzy rework) (6:45)
Patterns (Grand River rework) (8:56)
Review: Cedric Vermue's Perpetua album from this time last year explored neo-classical and ambient with a mix of piano, organ, synthesizer, electronics, woodwinds, horn and even a female choir. Now one of its most standout cuts gets reworked into a more club-ready sound by master sonic craftsmen. Italian deep techno son Donato Dozzy goes first and brings his signature smoothness, supple rhythms and bubbly drum and bass combos for a delightfully heady trip. Then comes a Grand River rework, also of 'Patterns', that is more tense and textural with fizzing drones marbling the rising synth work and suggestive minimal rhythm.

Kiherehere (Bugsy ReDrum) (4:10)
Review: The Take It Easy label returns with a red hot one and limited edition one-sided 12" that features a Bugsy 'ReDrum' of Wema's 'Kiherehere' cut. The original artists are a five-piece Tanzanian outfit founded on community and they have a global approach to sound that plays out here. In Bugsy's hands, it becomes a club-ready cut that fuses house and techno with the original's traditional Tanzanian instrumentals and Afro-Latin rhythms. Add in a fiery vocal and the sort of unrelenting drum funk that sends crowds mad and you have another standout from this fledgling label.

Review: Metronomy mark their signing to Ninja Tune with a new single that comes not long after their Posse EP Volume 1, a collection of tunes all made in collaboration with up-and-coming artists like Biig Piig, Spill Tab, Sorry, Brian Nasty and Folly Group. This one is another collaboration, this time with Pam Amsterdam. 'Nice Town' deals with the lead singer's own battles such as "internal versus the external or, intangible versus the tangible." It is a delightfully snappy dance-pop ditty with great and tight synth sequences, old-school rap vocals and nice broken early electro beats. Metronomy and Alain Ogue add their own remixes to a great label debut.

Deer Jade - "Jukurpa"
Deer Jade - "Cosmic Dream" (1:11)
David Hasert/Nicone - "Wasting My Time With You" (6:11)
Review: Kompakt have billed their latest collaborative spiritual house release - three groove sandwiches shared between Deer Jade, David Hasert and Nicone - as an antidote to the all-to-prevalent late-winter blues and lack of sun, an affliction that seems to blight ravers in particular. Aside from canvassing for more outdoor and/or glass-roofed venues, all we can do in the meantime is weight the tonearm and jog-start the disc; 'Jukurpa' and 'Wasting My Time With You' are just the course of sonic vitamins us daywalkers need. The former is a deep, righteous blur of just piano tritones and circumscribed handholds around fires, as weighted knee-slaps and impacts evoke the feeling of a collective ritual come out-of-body experience. 'Cosmic Dream' returns to the very same rave spot at nighttime; at this point, it's all gone a bit lunar-psy, but the desert winds and temperate nighttime heat allow ample energy for continued soul flight.

Review: The fledgling but already notable UFO Series now looks to Italian producer and prodigious underground innovator Riciar Ghir for a captivating journey through the more energetic house realms, all with an outer space feel. 'Niriba Shuttle' opens with tribal percussion and progressive synths that are coloured by subtle acid lines. 'Silenzio' is slow, heavy and persuasive with its old school piano acting lighting up your soul. There's a twisted tech funk to 'Platter Dreams' that makes it perfect for 2am cruising and 'Bad Egg' sets down with plenty of colour. These cuts will all work several different moments on the dance floor making it a hugely useful 12".

Review: Havern is a club night and record label that was founded in Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa in New Zealand by Keepsakes and Jaded Nineties Raver. It recently dropped its first EP and now continues to make a mark with this second techno offering. Mani Festo is the artist responsible for what is a high-octane, white-knuckle ride starting with 'Hunter' which has raw percussive textures and slamming drums. The Peder Mannerfelt remix brings more twisted metal textures and heady loops, the 'Swarmm' falls over itself it is that urgent, with shooting lasers and twitchy pads all adding to the anxious feel. 'Poison' and 'Machine' round out this most visceral of EPs.

Review: The Disciples come through with a mighty fine pair of supersized and seriously heavyweight steppers here on this fresh new Boom-Shacka-Lacka 12". 'Red Moon Rise' has some raw percussive clatter adding highlights to the low ends and streaming synths bring rising tension. On the flip, 'Sticksman Skank' has flabby, wobbly low ends and some warrior leads plated with steel. Add in some big horns and you have an irresistible and effective tune. Both of these cuts come with dubs so you have plenty of weaponry for your next sound system session.

Review: Anthony Georges Patrice's Ausblick label has trod a fine path over the course of its first five releases and the good work continues on its sixth outing which is a new various artists affair. It is Berlin based Ephem who kicks off with 'Dizzy' and all its bumpy beast and raw perc, then Koln's Hidden Sequence follows with 'Optical Drive' that is more stripped back and powered by warming sub bass. Anthony Georges Patrice himself then completes the hat trick with 'Easy To Love' (Tunnel Vision Mix) which over ten sublime minutes brings some more airy, double doit flavoured and has already been getting plays from Mosaic boss Steve O'Sullivan.

Review: Marius Circus is well known and loved for a signature analogue sound and once again that is laid out for us all to enjoy here on a new EP that comes with a remix from men of the moment Jazxing. First up is the deep, unhurried and dubbed out 'Lost On A Path To Nowhere,' a subtle late-night sound with wispy synths and a muted bassline that grows ever more prominent. The Jazxing Pathfinder remix is more tropical and steamy, and on the flip 'No Way Home' douses you in more blissed-out chords before the downbeat boogie of 'Space Crumbs Trail'. This is yet more essential summer goodness from Is It Balearic.

The opener is one of those perfectly designed and frictionless tunneling techno mind melters that you never want to end. 'Aerial' also hurries forward urgently but this time with bells and percussive texture for company. On the A -Side we hear Beksi's trademark minimal techfunk with 'Impress Me', which delivers lilting stabs against a skeletal yet weighty beat backdrop. Review: Sakro's sound has always been expertly designed a perfect blend of form and function. Now in collaboration with Max Jacobson the same can still be said on the evidence of this new three-track offering on Germany's constantly excellent Raw imprint. It kicks off with 'Walking Into Mirrors' which is a full-throttle tech house cut with nice rubbery kicks and busy melodic patterns swirling about the mix. 'Planet Arium' sinks into a deeper, more heady atmosphere with the kicks still driving but the synth work here is more muted and late night. 'Chapter 16 - Remember To Go Home' is an almost ten minute B-side trip to the stars.

Four slices of various productive forces - ranging from paddy jungle ('Jelly Swim'), to an unusual foray for '93: drilled-out techstep ('Labrea'). Review: Shout out to the Palinoia label for here niching up its tenth release, and another stylish and stripped-back techno outing it is too. Feph is handed the controls for this one and 'Kinetics' opens up with the sort of smooth and silky lines and drum rhythms that lock you into a meditative state in an instant. 'Reasons Unknown' follows a similar linear and loopy path but with some brighter daubs of synth colour that pulse up top like distant stars. 'Low Immortals' is a little more dark and moody with fizzing static electricity and underlapping bass, then 'Settlement Research' shuts down with airy broken beats and sci-fi designs that are abstract and charming.

Review: This is the 13th release for the Czech Republic techno label Harmony Records and sees a return of a regular contributor in Alfred Czital plus Ayu. This joint EP sees two pieces that are co-produced and then a single track by each, which gives the record a unique flow. 'The Robbery' is an upbeat breakbeat that strides the line between techno and trance. We like how these songs stay in the sweet spot and don't go overboard into a cheesiness like with 'In The End'. For a more psy-trance and techno track to keep in the groove is the refreshing. 'Body High', giving us big flashbacks of warehouse raves in 1994. We love the energy these sustain. With a psy influence throughout, fans of futuristic techno will love these darker bangers.

This stuff should come with a warning because it is so dense, dark and caustic that it is utterly disorientating and not far off being walls of sheer impenetrable white noise, but all fired at you at one hundred miles an hour. The hits on 'This Does Not Contain Rave Stabs' come at you as if fired from a pneumatic drill, the drums of 'Squirrel Power' are square and devastating, the synths of 'Hips Don't Fly' are like random and spraying machine gun fire and the distorted low ends of 'That B Track' will tickle your inner ear they are so visceral.

Dive (8:25)
Review: The Delaphine label has been so strong since it started releasing music just over a decade now. SAM is such a strong producer; we almost feel like you might be sick of hearing us tell you how good he is. 'What Defines You As A Human' leads the charge on the A-side, a pumping burner oozing with quality. 'Lundeborg Winds' adds a few quirky bleeps and squiggles to a really smooth landscape of deep house business. The great things about Delaphine is you never know if you are going to get some deep house or maybe some techno, electro or ambient. But you know it will be quality so you buy it blindly anyways. Sure enough, 'Dive' haas the entire B-side to itself as the techno banger of the bunch. We really like the big Hardfloor type acid sound on this one. Delaphine and SAM always come though!

Edits in the hole! Two Afrofunk gems enjoy floor-primed refocuses: Steve Monite's Doing It In Lagos-featured "Only You" gets a little juice from Sofrito's Frankie Francis who really brings the bass out in proceedings. Meanwhile on the B Nick The Record and Idjut Boy Dan Tyler tweak the energy and sheen of Tabu Ley Rochereau's "Hafi Disco" as the drums are given a little more momentum and the chorus and horns are really brought to the centre of the action. Stunning.

Now the Barcelona-based and experimental DIY imprint Selvamancer has signed him up for this effective new I Live In The Midwest EP. The title track gets things underway with meaning deep techno grooves embellished with a busy but soft-edged acid line that never stops prying. There is a more electro-bent to the kinetic 'Everything For The Dev' then things flip again into depraved and broken techno territory on 'A Better House.' Elsewhere, you'd be hard pushed to find more lo-fi and battered sound rhythms than those on the lumpy, bleepy 'You Should Post' while 'Download' is another uniquely brain-frying sound from this maverick.

It is Bilalov who steps up with the three originals which all take a minimal approach to tech house. 'What' kicks off with a mix of deft synth modulations and distant eerie swirls and sleek skeletal rhythms underpinned with textbook sub bass. Review: Oslo-born, London-bred, Delhi-influenced DJ and producer lands on K7 here with an EP that comes after a period of "creative stagnation". To get through it she decided to try and forget what she knew, and went with the flow as she embraced experimentation. The results are fantastically deft - fresh rhythms, wispy synths, plenty of detail but also effective club cuts that make you want to move. Dub, techno and house all get collided in freeform fashion with 'Blamerke' built on double-time polyrhythmic drums and overlaid with warped synths. 'Bottlepop' is more loose and funky with wispy neon melodies and 'Ghungroo' is layered up with sonorous bell and a real sense of urgency. Colourful stuff.

Lowering the tempo just a smidgeon, he's found himself painting from a vibrant palette that isn't governed by the tight rules of drum & bass, aligning himself more with the Biceps and Special Requests of the world and the sounds really shine as a result. Both of these have been on dub for some time, 'The Special' nods sweetly at Sade before burying its head in the biggest bass scoop it can find while the brilliantly titled 'Twos On A Pack Of 10' dives into dreamier breakbeat pastures - before breaking into a serious venomous bassline. Review: Noah Skelton returns to Daydream with a fresh new excursion into the itchy shuffles of the deep tech variety, tempered with a one-off contribution in the vein of dreamy breaks. Examples of the first style include the tracks 'Hammajang', 'Blind', and 'First Remark', all of which bring an extra slice of texture to an already minimal headroom, which is still maintained despite the textural decorations. 'Aurora' is the wildcard, opting for sizzling breaks constructions, breathy vocal segues and a resonant pad line.

Review: Mint Condition continues its run of strong reissues of house and techno music. Originally released on the cult label Robs records in 1995, Kilowatt's 'The Last EP' is finally getting the much deserved repress. Included is the wicked acid banger 'Loose End' which is a diamond of the mid-90s bleep house sound. 'The End' is another standout track on this release that gives us great memories of all the exciting IDM related going ons in the mid 90s - not least in the club of the same name - with echoes of 808 State from the late 80s too. Sometimes you aren't sure why a record's been reissued, but this one is definitely a worthy case. Expect these copies to go fast.

U Were My Second First Choice (7:07)

Affection (6:08)
Review: 2023 was a knockout year for Portuguese artist Temudo, taking in techno totems like Blueprint, Klockworks and Hayes in pursuit of his driving, sharply-focused sound. Now he lands on Italian label Sublunar with more of that refined, precision engineered gear for the wormhole crew. 'U Where My Second Choice' is a taut, edgy workout with a nagging synth hook, but 'Asset 2' ratchets down to a pure, heady locomotion which will take you tunnelling deep into the night. '2029' has a restrained funk which will work the body good and proper, and 'Affection' simmers down to a minimal palette peppered with pointed blips moving in expertly sequenced formations - smart techno at its finest.

Review: 26 years ago Blame embraced the dark forces of the Sith (a good five years before the Revenge movie) - and it finally got a release in 2021. Now comes the VIP. Even more score-like and dramatic with its energy and intention, this will have you unleashing force destruction before you can even whip out your sabre. 'Lost Science' is another unreleased gem from the same late 90s era. Big jazzy drums, caverns of space and a sense of cosmic jazz that's hard to find in contemporary breakbeat music. The dark force is strong on this one.

He was entrusted with warm up duties at a very early stage in his career and now carries on his relationship with a second release via fabric Originals which is part of the iconic clubs's ongoing 25 year anniversary celebrations. Says the man himself about this new two-tracker, "as with every club record I ever make, [this one] has Room 1 coursing through its veins. I know that room like the back of my hand and this is how the room sounds in my skull."

The TS Chronicles (5:36)
Review: Lapse Records welcomes Los Primos here as they debut their excellent new EP Under-Stompin'. This fresh project is the brainchild of Toronto's Cosmic JD and Aaron Santos, both affiliated with the Hypnotic Mindscapes label and party collective. They showcase their singular take on tight, twitchy cosmic tech house across a quartet of its that start with the snappy snare work of 'What We're On' before 'Primitive Holiday' (feat Masayuki Tomita) is more raw and coarse with sharp hits and spraying basslines. 'Vicky's Out 4 Blud' (feat Nicolas Cage) takes things into a more cosmic direction and the 'The TS Chronicles' is a warped afters banger.

Review: Carl Finlow really is the electro gift that keeps on giving. It seems like he drops new music on a near-weekly basis and it never dips in quality. This time he is on the We're Going Deep label and his music-making machines are in fine fettle. 'Equi' opens up with a sense of caution - the nimble drums and chrome-plated synths keeping you on edge, while 'Aether' unfurls into a widescreen and laid-back electro journey to the stars. There is more menace and bite to 'Affinity' with its superbly reverb-enriched kicks and 'Septagon' again cuts loose on playful melodic sequences.

Freddy Fresh - "5_HP_D" (3:35)
Review: The brand new Hyperdrive label kicks off with a mix of the old and the new - some tracks made recently, some that date back to the 90s, all of them top quality. Liquid Earth opens up with the spaced-out synths and electronic house sounds of '1_HP_D' then Art Of The State gets a little more tranced out and cosmic on '2_HP_D'. Dan Piu's '3_HP_D' is a tech house exploration with wispy sci-fi leads and a playful rhythm then Luis Malon & Seb G combine for the turbo-charged tech of '4_HP_D.' The legendary Freddy Fresh closes down with a high-speed sound on '5_HP_D.' Says the label, "Hyperdrive is dedicated to preserving the rich history of electronic music," and on this evidence, it will do so expertly.

The Mind & Motion (5:33)
Review: Seven months on from the release of his superb Schematics album on Gated Recordings, Keith Farrugia brings his Sound Synthesis project back to Orbital Mechanics, a no-nonsense, electro-focused imprint he founded two years ago. His EPs for the personal label (as in, it exists solely as a vehicle for his productions) usually sell out quickly, and we expect this one to be no different. He begins by wrapping fiendishly foreboding acid bass and reverb-laden lead lines around a punchy electro beat on 'Whatever You Want', before opting for an intergalactic sound on the more minimalistic 'Communication Frequency'. Over on side B, 'Ominous' lives up to its name via ghostly chords, bubbly electronics and slowly unfurling acid lines, while 'The Mind & Motion' is a deep and melancholic treat.

Review: A veteran of the scene, Jeremy Sylvester makes an unprecedented appearance on a relatively new local label, Timeisnow, for a wicked new five-track speed garage selection. 'Flashback' is led by the track '90s Man', which lays claim to an identity couched in a certain time and exposes the direction of the EP to come - knocking rims and deep Reeses dance about a criss-crossing 4x4 speed beat like carefully-slotted pegs in holes, as a grainy but stylish image of a sunshaded selector is conjured in our heads (and on the record cover). The title track, followed shortly by 'In The Morning', evoke nostalgic visions of a beachside rave that ekes heavy into the morning, at least transgressing the 10am range.

Harvy Valencia - "Brut" (5:54)
Review: Hot Creations has now put out well over 225 records, which is no mean feat, but even more impressive is that it still very much sets the conversation for a certain section of the house world. This new EP pairs off Beltran with Harry Valencia and offers some interesting fusions of tribal, Latin, house and tech. There is a wonky feel to opener 'Origins' (3AM Tusi mix) with its characterful vocal chants and percussive grooves, while Beltran's solo cut 'Tira A Roupa' (feat Mc Jajau - Putaria mix) has a Spanish feel and a fat bass guitar riff that brings rubbery funk to the crisp tech drums. Last of all, Harvy Valencia goes it alone on closer 'Brut' which is more steamy and sweaty and ready for some sun-kissed open-air deployment.

Review: Partisan is back in action with more of that crafty electro-tinged minimal pushed by label founder Anthea in her razor-sharp DJ sets. Ildec is at the helm for this new release on the label, employing his considerable array of synths and applying them to punchy, infectious workouts for the club while maintaining a necessary sense of fun. '003000009' is a cheekily spooky cut primed for those moments you want to creep the dancefloor out a little, while 'Sunrise In Ukraine' is a bouncy, acidic joint to get bodies jacking deep into the night.

Review: The Italian-based Paradise City Breakers take the honor of being the first release by the new label Exxtra Beats. Sweet Sound and Harmonies features four tracks that showcase the artist's eclectic style, ranging from progressive house to techno. The EP opens with the title track, a dreamy and pulsating piece that sets the tone for the rest of the release. The groove is hypnotic and infectious as the robot voice urges you on. 'Empateia' follows, with a catchy piano riff and heavy 90s UK influence. 'Howerdose' is a more electro track, with its eerie keys and darker rhythms that stand out well when played. Things close with 'This Was Intense', a high-energy techno track that leaves the listener wanting more. Overall, Sweet Sound and Harmonies is a very memorable EP that is sure to work well with the old-school crowd. The artist's unique style and ability to blend different genres is clear throughout the release. This is an artist to watch in the future.

Review: Dustin Zahn makes a return to the techno label Blueprint with his latest titled 'Temporary Vandalism'. 'Catharsis' is a metallic sounding banger that thrives on driving the tension to an all-time pitch - all the making of a classic techno record. 'Rotator' adds a bit more of a tribal sound to the looped style killer. The title track goes full tribal reminding us of classic Oliver Ho material. 'Conduit Of Chaos' is perhaps our favorite of the lot with the classy ever-changing rhythm and incessant pressure that continues to rise. For many, Blueprint is the example of proper techno - and that's a theory that's backed up by this dancefloor ammunition.

Review: Tel Aviv's Elado has put out a fine run of eight releases in just two years on the likes of GAMM, Barefoot Beats and Bonfido Disques, but for his next move, he branches out with his own reissue label. its aim is to "focus on uncovering lost gems" with the original paired with his own remixes. The first one is a 1983 private press from the Canadian pair OUI. 'Circle Of Love' is a big disco banger with flashy synth work and rugged arps, with a pair of Elado's mixes making it even more dancefloor ready. 'You Make Me High' is a more sentimental 80s pop sound. The release has recieved support from a lot of artist, such as Gerd Jansen and Hunee. A fine start to life for this new label.

Review: Garage Hermetique unleashes four cuts by Berlin's Onirik and collaborators, all recorded at his Schlesi studio hidden beneath the Schlesicher Tor U-Bahn station. A 'special and chaotic' place, it clearly proved a fertile ground for sonic alchemy, with the 'Good Bye Schlesi' EP traversing a smorgasbord of moods and atmospheres, from the mardy tekkno stomp of 'Rabenflug' to the pensive tone float of the aptly-named 'Ebb & Flow' via the effortlessly sleazy synth gyrations of 'Meier Low Rider' and the nervy Drexciyan shuffle of 'Critical Massa'. Review: Death On Wax has already slipped out a handful of sharply informed edit and remix 12"s which fly the flag for the early 80s dance culture, when seedy, nocturnal bands were colliding with the flamboyant grooves of disco and synth pop. On this latest record, Jaz goes low and slow on the new wave goth tones of 'Cleopatra' before Frantz leans in on the Eurodisco freakiness of 'Hyde & Go Sleaze'. DJ Rocca & N2B pile on the pressure with the camp delights of 'Abuse' and Facets completes the set with the boxy beats of 'Never Passing'. Essential cuts for any discerning death disco.
