Review: This reissue contains the complete classic album The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery, featuring the guitarist in a quartet form with the wonderful rhythm section of Tommy Flanagan, Percy Heath and Albert "Tootie" Heath. Two of the album's tunes have been reprised and added as bonus tracks: 'D-Natural Blues' and 'West Coast Blues'. Montgomery was one of the most revered guitarists in jazz history, and The Incredible Jazz Guitar... was his third album as a bandleader, leading to high praise on release and receiving a five-star rating in Chicago music press fixture, DownBeat Magazine. To quote its original five-star review by Ira Giller: "If anyone took time to examine the ballots of the 1960 critics' poll closely, they would have seen that I was one of two who voted for Wes Montgomery as number one on the guitar in the established category."

Review: The A-side of this new 45 from Colemine can be described as sophisticated lounge-pop for dinnertime at a hip debutante ball in 1962. Featuring a track off of Durand Jones & The Indications' third LP, 'Too Many Tears' depicts a story of heartbreak, with Aaron Frazer's silky falsetto mournfully painting a scene of betrayal. The B-side has gone on to become a theme tune for a whole new generation of sweet soul lovers: featuring Y La Bomba, a Latin indie alternative/experimental band led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Luz Elena Mendoza, the track is an homage to lowriders across the globe. A heater of a 45. Let's cruise....

Review: The story of Ultrasonic Grand Prix is one of two vintage 60s guitars and their owners - multi-instrumentalist/producer Shawn Lee and guitar maestro Barrie Cadogan of Nottingham freakbeaters Little Barrie. The music that emerged of their synthesis was weird, startling, and insatiably groovy. With one foot dipped in the organ-warbling garage of 60s psych, and the other vibrating in the mind-expanding fractals of the British acid house boom, Instafuzz plies the earthly quintessences of blues, rock, soul and jazz, against the preternatural discomforts of programmed drums and unhinged synthesisers to produce something distinctly and nostalgically futuristic.

Review: Logidy is a Berlin-based artist commonly found rolling with the O Mato crew, and he follows up on impressive releases for Home Again and Mellow Rec with this ear-snagging drop for Dutch label Unsilenced. There's a hint of the cheeky synth flair you might expect from Eya and other such labels orbiting the minimal scene, with 'Heat Check' in particular having a whale of a time with catchy lead lines. 'Logi Tech (Club Mix)' is an equally crafty affair, albeit striking a seedier tone in its melodic make up. 'Rocket Science' has a warmer, soul-spirited energy and plenty of musical chops in its arrangement, while the 'Beach Mix' of 'Logi Tech' heads towards fittingly sunnier climes without losing that instinct for ear-catching nooks and crannies in the production.

Review: Cimedirapax opts to welcome no fewer than four artists to its fourth EP, and they all take one track each. There is plenty going on with MoYA81's 'The Way We Like' from electro crash drums to wonky Italo melodies to withering sci-fi disco effects. Yu's 'Another Call Me Bad' rides on cascading synth arps that never let you settle for a moment and Gianluca Pellerano's 'Alienated Theater' then explores slamming tech house with electro style melodies bringing a cinematic vibe. NND cuts the most loose of the lot with sheet metal snares and wispy synths, prying bass and crisp tech funk drums on 'Incomingtransmission.' Innovative stuff all round.

Notes: 2023 sees the 50th anniversary of what is widely regarded as Thin Lizzy's breakthrough album 'Vagabonds Of The Western World' featuring their first UK top ten single 'Whiskey In The Jar' and 'The Rocker' which would go on to be one of the band's signature tunes, so much so that it was the last song they ever performed at their final show in 1983. To celebrate the album's golden anniversary, the Blu ray formats feature Atmos mixes for the first time.

A-138s is a simple but useful 4-in-2 mixing tool. It has four inputs available. Each input is equipped with an attenuator (Level) and a panning control that is used to distribute the signal to the left and right output. Beyond stereo mixing it is equally suited to create variable parallel routings. For example: Any of the four inputs may be routed in variable intensity to feed two filters.

You may regard the A-138s as a smaller version of the A-138m Matrix Mixer.

Inputs and outputs are DC coupled, i.e. the module can be used for the mixing of control signals too.

Review: 31 years have now passed since Smart E's gate-crashed the charts with their contribution to the (short-lived) 'toytown rave' movement, 'Sesame's Treet' - a rather silly (but, in its own way, joyous) breakbeat hardcore tune featuring snippets of the theme tune to 'Sesame Street'. Here the track gets the 2023 remix treatment. Fast flowing 'chap hop' rapper Professor Elemental stars on 'Sesame's Treet 2023', a funkier but no less celebratory re-imagining that retains core elements from the original mix (the raw rave stabs, the boisterous breaks and, yes, bits of that oh-so-familiar theme tune), while the HSI remix is an energetic, extra-percussive, sample-heavy take built around a deliciously wobbly bassline and saucer-eyed chords. The EP also features remastered 1992 album track 'Magnificent', a slightly darker but even more potent hardcore workout.

The first design appeared in the 1973 release of the Buchla Music Easel and named for the spacecraft that delivered astronauts to the moon. More than just MIDI compatible, the LEM 218 v3 gives you a unique interface to playing your existing MIDI gear and soft synths. Each touch outputs note name, channel pressure, and velocity for every note, along with sustain controls from a pedal. Polyphonic MIDI mode lets you play chords. The touchstrip can act as a pitch bend control, or as a mod wheel for additional expressive control. Easily configured using the front panel controls, you can send notes and controls on any MIDI channel. Send the LEM some MIDI, and it gets converted to voltages and gates for eurorack and Buchla control.

Arpeggiate

A pulse input allows the arpeggiator to be driven by external inputs and are allowed to interact with the automated notes to make the pattern more complex. Additional controls allow you to blend different patterns and randomness to easily change from the expected to the surprising.
