Step sequencer module
Notes: Polygraf is a step sequencer that features record/edit and playback functionality across 32 different patterns of up to 16 steps.

Polygraf has four binary outputs (can be High or Low), labelled One, Two, Four, and Eight. During playback, Polygraf outputs a combination of High and Low for each of those outputs. The combinations can be edited by setting Polygraf to write mode and following the necessary procedure.

Analogue sequencer module
Notes: Cryptograf is a 4 bit to 16 step addressable analogue sequencer. Each of it's 16 steps can be addressed in any order for ultimate creative flexibility.

Cryptograf pairs nicely with Polygraf; together they make a powerful combination for prepared - yet also improvisational - melodic sequences.

Cryptograf features 4 address inputs, 1, 2, 4 and 8, each of which has an associated input socket as well as a 3 position state switch which allows each address input to be held high, respond to input signals, or held low.

Each input has two status LEDs. The red LED displays the signal present at the input socket, while the green LED displays the status of the address input.

The combination of signals present at the input sockets, together with the positions of the state switches allows Cryptograf to have 16 different output states, numbered from 0 through to 15.

The output state of Cryptograf can be ascertained by observing which of the 4 address inputs are high. So, for example:
if no green status LEDs are on, Cryptograf is in output state 0
if green status LED 4 is on, Cryptograf is in output state 4
if green status LEDs 1, 2 and 4 are on, Cryptograf is in output state 7
if green status LEDs 2 and 8 are on, Cryptograf is in output state 10
...and so forth.

Each output state has an associated LED and potentiometer. The potentiometer can be set to a desired voltage which will then be present at the CV output whenever Cryptograf is in that particular output state.
Additionally, there is a master range switch for determining the voltage range of all the output states, either high (...), or low (...).

The input sockets may be addressed by various external modules, for example:
FC Pocket Calculator, FC High Towers, or similar clock dividers with multiple outputs from other manufacturers.
FC Polygraf or similar grid editors from other manufacturers.
FC Touch Me Here or similar momentary or latched manual gate modules

Polygraf is recommended as the most flexible way to address Cryptograf, they were designed to be together and share a deep and enduring love for each other. This successful partnership allows Cryptograf to be addressed in many ways, for example:
Forwards from 0 through to 15
Backwards from 15 through to 0
by repeating rows, or by repeating columns
Asequentially, in any order you choose

As Polygraf is capable of storing many user patterns which themselves are selectable by CV, multiple chained patterns are possible. Furthermore, users will discover their own unique combinations of FC and third party modules to address Cryptograf, always bearing in mind that at any time the status of any of the 4 input sockets may be overridden by the 4 state switches.
Latch function
Cryptograf may be latched manually via the Latch toggle switch, or externally via the Latch input. When Cryptograf is latched, the last output state to go high is held until Cryptograf is unlatched. Additionally, when latched, the clock output is held low.
Clock input / clock output
Cryptograf does not require a clock input to function, nor does it contain an internal clock. The clock input/clock output circuit can be thought of as a 'clock thru' with a couple of useful additions:
Incoming clocks or LFOs are comparated and outputted as square waves
Clock output is held low when Cryptograf is latched
By sending a clock through Cryptograf, and utilising the latch input, legato notes may be programmed by use of external modules.

Event generator module
Notes: Chronograf is a super flexible one-shot and cyclic event generator. It can be used as an envelope generator, LFO, or master clock.

Chronograf features Start/Reset and Stop momentary switches, each with associated control inputs, as well as a tap tempo momentary switch. A toggle switch selects between one-shot and cyclic modes. Four knobs are available to set Tempo, Waveform, Multiplier and Function. There is another toggle switch to select whether changes to Multiplier happen immediately or at the start of the next clock cycle.

Chronograf has 5 outputs:
LFO out
180 out (same as LFO out but 180- out of phase)
Clock out
Start cycle out (Clock divided by Multiplier)
Reset out (momentarily goes high whenever Start/Reset or Stop is pressed)

Waveform selection is chosen by a combination of Waveform and Function knobs. In this way (arguably) 64 waveforms can be selected.

Quad ADSR envelope generator synth module, 26HP wide
Notes: The A-143 series of modules contain multiple modulation sources. Module A-143-2 is a four-fold ADSR type envelope generator. Other modules of this series are the Complex Envelope Generator A-143-1 (Quad AD) and the Quad LFO A-143-3.

The module contains 4 independent ADSR-type envelope generators. Each sub-module has available the controls Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release. The three-position Range switch allows to select the desired time range (low - high - medium). The adjustable envelope time ranges from several minutes to some milliseconds. On top of this each sub-module is equipped with three digital outputs (high/low): "End of Attack (EOA)", "End of Decay (EOD)" and "End of Release (EOR)". As soon as the criterion is valid (e.g. end of decay state) the corresponding digital outputs turns to "high". These outputs can be used e.g. to daisy-chain several ADSR sub-modules. For this the digital output in question (EOA, EOD or EOR) has to be connected to the Gate input of the following ADSR. Even automatically running envelopes (pseudo LFOs) or so-called "quadrature envelopes" with cyclical modulations of several ring-shaped, daisy-chained ADSRs are possible. To obtain a pseudo LFO simply the EOD or EOR output has to be connected to the Gate input of the same ADSR.

In addition to the obligatory Gate (G) input for envelope generators each sub-module has available a Retrigger (Rt) input. The retrigger turns the direction to "upward" if the envelope has already reached the decay state while the retrigger pulse occurs. If the envelope is still in the attack phase the retrigger input has no meaning. This a different behaviour from A-140 and A-141!

The Gate inputs of the units 2, 3 and 4 are normalled to the Gate input of unit 1, i.e. Gate input 1 is connected to the switching contacts of the Gate input sockets 2, 3 and 4. Thus one Gate signal applied to Gate input 1 can be used to trigger all four sub-modules simultaneously.

The envelope outputs are displayed with LEDs.

The maximal envelope voltage (Attack/Decay reversal point) is about +8V.

If voltage control of all parameters is required module A-141 is available.

The way how LYRA's modules interacting between each other and the behaviour of the instrument resembles a live conversation.

LYRA-8 is based on eight generators, which will be referred to as voices. Their design is not like a traditional subtractive synthesis VCO. Instead of having a linear or logarithmic dependency on control voltage, they resemble the tone generators in old electric organs. Hence the use of the term "voices" instead of "VCOs". Lyra uses non-linearity a lot, and the voices are constructed in such a way that allows for non-linearity to express itself.

The voices are divided into four pairs (12, 34, 56, 78). All the pairs are divided in two groups, with two pairs in each (1234, 5678), creating tree-like structure.

The voices can function either in an electric organ mode or in an FM synthesis mode with each of the voices and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The voice's impact on FM synthesis will decrease along with the decay of its envelope.

LYRA-8 also has the next blocks:

The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator, whose waveform is synthesized from two simple LFOs by summation or multiplication of their frequencies. It also has a sync mode. The LFO can modulate the selected pairs of voices and the MOD DELAY.

The MOD DELAY consists of two lines of delay with cross-feedback and a special architecture that enables resonance between the two lines. Each line's delay time can be individually modulated from various sources, including external ones. The delay has a unique possibility of self-modulation where the output signal modulates the delay sample rate, creating cool effects.

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

For all its experimental character, LYRA is a professional instrument. Its output dynamics and frequency response are balanced and ready for a live performance or studio recording without any additional processing.

Processor module
Notes: LYRA8-FX is a processor that can give you a significant part of the mysterious LYRA-8 sound thanks to the FX section from the LYRA-8, expanded with CV controls and packed into a Eurorack module.

It contains a double modulated lo-fi delay with cross-feedback and the unique possibility of self-modulation, where the delay output signal modulates its own sample rate. Also, it packs a parallel distortion with CV control of the drive. The distortion is after the delay. It's much more than a delay - you can get a simple reverb, comb filter, chorus and much more cool FXs which are hard to describe.

Envelope follower module
Notes: The Envelope Follower produces two functions which can be used separately or in conjunction. The follower circuit Signal Input presents a control voltage output (DC) proportional to the average amplitude of the AC input signal. The second function, a Schmitt trigger, generates a V-trigger above a threshold voltage (comparator), when a slowly varying or DC voltage is introduced at the control input jack. The normalling of the control input of the follower circuit to the control input of the Schmitt trigger circuit allows both control voltage and trigger to be generated from a single variable source.

Voltage controlled low pass filter module
Notes: The AION Modular 904A Low Pass filter is an Eurorack clone of the classic Moog Modular Low Pass filter (should not be confused with the Mini Moog Low Pass filter).

The 904A Low Pass filter attenuates frequencies above the Fixed Control Voltage (cutoff frequency) point at a rate of 24dB per octave. The cutoff frequency is voltage controlled through the three control inputs at the bottom of the module (1v per octave).

The Regeneration knob (resonance) varies the amount of internal feedback, creating a resonant peak at the cutoff frequency.
The Fixed Controlled Voltage knob adjustes frequency over 12 octaves span (1v per octave).

Sequencer module
Notes: Little Melody is a generative sequencer based around clock divisions and a chromatic quantiser, used to create in-the-moment licks and riffs. It is more that the sum of its parts.

Little Melody's internal operations can be considered as 4 clock dividers patched into a CV mixer via attenuators. The attenuators select notes over a 5 octave range, the clock dividers determine how often those notes are added to the mix. The final output of Little Melody is quantized chromatically for fast set up and continuously pleasing results.
The 4 clock dividers are labelled A, B, C, and D. They all receive clocks from the same source, the divisions may be selected using the presets and the individual division selectors. The clock dividers can be set to count up, down, or to one of a variety of modes that move between counting up and down..

Both fixed and variable levels can be obtained from the front panel output jacks. Nominal frequency and range controls (octave) are found at the top of the module.

Voltage controlled rectangular width (VC-PWM) is set by the knob in the upper center (left) with the accompanying voltage input jacks.
Multiple frequency control inputs 1 and 2 can be plugged into this module in parallel. Control input 3 is used via the pot for linear frequency response (Liniar FM). All waveform outputs can be used if desired.

This is what we consider an improved version of the Moog 921 VCO, not a direct clone. Improvements were made concerning tuning and stability issues.

Reverberation module
Notes: When a dynamically varying signal is applied to the input of the 905, the output will consist of a series of closely spaced echoes, the subjective effect of which is similar to that of reverberation of sound. If a small amount of "echo signal" is mixed with a larger amount of "direct signal" (Reverberation Control set slightly clockwise), the effect of a typical concert hall is obtained. If the echo signal only is passed (Reverberation Control is set fully clockwise), an exaggerated echo suggesting a cave is obtained. The relative amount of echo signal and direct signal can be continuously changed from 100% direct signal to 100% echo signal.

Filter coupler module
Notes: The AION Modular 904C Filter Coupler is an Eurorack clone of the classic Moog Modular 904C.

The 904C Filter Coupler connects the 904A Lowpass and the 904B Highpass together to produce a Bandpass or a Band Reject filter response.

Bandwidth can be extended to three octaves and Center Frequency ranges from 5Hz to 20KHz. Both can be controlled manually or via control voltage.

The 904C provides a wide variety of signal processing and we strongly encourage experimentation but we advise to start with the following settings:

The 904A and the 904B are required to use the 904C.
