Rhythmic Soundscapes (5:57)
Review: Spanish hi-tech soul maestro Eduardo De La Calle on the true home of it: Planet E - and it's about friggin' time if we do say so! Over the last several years, the Madrid native has respectfully borrowed from the traditions of first and second wave Motor City sounds, but he undeniably carved his own path via his respected Analog Solutions imprint. The Icosahedrite EP features three life affirming explorations in techno-soul. From the the galaxian Jupiter jazz of the A side, through to the classic funked up futurism that pays homage to greats like Transmat and Metroplex like on "Mr Dewey D". There is also the more powerful and straight ahead functionalism of "Rhythmic Soundscapes" which is just as heads down and DJ ergonomic as his aforementioned AS material. This follows up some great releases by him in 2017, on the likes of Anemone, Forbidden Colors and Monogram Systems.

My Own Transition
Review: The ever on-point Hivern Discs opt for a statement release from Eduardo De La Calle, offering up this single-track reissue of the Spaniard's highly thought of and sought after "My Own Transition". Originally released back in 2011 as part of the ninth 12" on De Calle's Analog Solutions platform, the track remains a wide-reaching yet still meaningful peak-time cut in deference to the Underground Resistance classic "Transition". With its steady-ticking thrust and organ-like hum there's plenty to sweep you up in the track, not to mention the life-questioning resonance of the vocal, and while it might have missed the peak of summer hands-in-the-air-moments there's still plenty of damage this track will do in the right kind of spacious spaces.

Review: You gotta hand it to Eduardo de la Calle; the man has a formula for making music. His analogue-only maxim has served him well and the music he makes for his own Analog Solutions is repeatedly his best. No time for titles, "Track 1" sees Calle file out some dusty beeps and traversing filters with the odd out-of-time delay thrown in. "Track 2" sees more minimal dubby genius from the Spanish don, while "Track 3" ups the anti of the A-side but the dub remains, with tipping clavs providing a mechanical groove in the same way Robrt Hood's tracks do. The same goes for the B2 which will appear to "Ream" by Hood's Monobox alias.

Stripped Denominator
Skeletalism
Reliable Sources
Quasi-Calligraphic 09
Review: Over his long and prolific career, Eduardo De La Calle has released for many disparate labels - Restoration, Modularz and even Cadenza - alongside his own Analog Solutions imprint. Now he makes the logical step to Semantica, bringing his minimalist brand of techno to Svreca's label; as is to be expected, De La Calle brings some of his trippiest, most hypnotic material to bear on the Rather Than Deep EP. "Stripped Denominator" comes with a bewildering array of blips and scuffed, offbeat hi-hats, while "Skeletalism" rolls forward with a subdued urgency. "Reliable Sources" elects to let pure tone do the work, with a quavering nasal lead and pushed along on a steadily surging bass, but it's "Quasi-calligraphic" that delivers the EP's killer moment, with a pitched house-inspired chord and rubbery stabs combining to make a track that sounds like Maurizio on downers.

The Ranchor's Time
Fight For Devotion
The Polar Star 'First Stop'
Review: Known primarily for his analogue fuelled techno, Madrid based Eduardo De La Calle offers a lighter side to his production palette with this debut on Mule Musiq which is perfectly suited to the Japanese label's friendly aesthetic. "The Rancher's Time" chimes, blips and patters in something typically De La Calle, while "Fight For Devotion" is full of gritty samples, synthesis and pumping drum machines you can imagine flashing red, green and blue in the dark. The EPs final track is the spacey - and almost italo disco - "The Polar Star 'First Stop'" which provides the perfect option for deeper spinning DJs wanting to spice up their set with something a little fruitier.

Review: The first of three Analogue Soultions 12"s to arrive this week from the studio of Eduardo De Le Calle. The untitled track that sprawls across the A-Side is quietly charged with the resonating echoes of ghostly, tracky beats and a hanging synth loop that positively drips with tension. Better still, "Track 2" exudes a downtempo, smoky vibe thanks to its sub aqueous rhythms and sporadic piano stabs, while "Track 3" worms deeper still into the electronic unknown. Be sure to check out parts two and three of this essential trilogy!

Review: The ever-strong Analogue Solutions imprint continues its dedicated series for Eduardo De La Calle with two sublimely restrained cuts of dub techno. The grainy echoes and muted kicks are certainly familiar ground, but then this kind of music has always been about the overall vibe rather than distracting decoration. There's no faking this kind of militant approach to minimalism, paring everything down to such sweet simplicity as to take your mind to a plethora of places. It's an acquired taste, but this is certainly the strong end of the spectrum for dubwise DJs. Highly recommended.

Track 3
Review: Relentlessly issuing forth his unique brand of reduced acid, Eduardo De La Calle presents us with three heads-down jams that move between edgy tension and breezy piano chords. There's a dub techno echo on "Track 1" which lends itself to the depths the 303 is pointing towards. Meanwhile "Track 2" rides an easy funk with plaintive undertones, making for quite an emotional dancefloor cut. Spread across the B-Side, "Track 3" is the real deal as dischordant notes and a solitary squelch make for an utterly creepy and effective slice of minimal techno.

Review: When one 12" of stripped-down deepness isn't enough, turn to Eduardo De La Calle, whose second 12" for Analog Solutions this week plies three more enthralling and hypnotic exercises in restraint and fear. "Track 2" is especially arresting with its endlessly looping melodic refrain and metallic echoes. "Track 1" actually kicks with a bit more girth to the bottom end, keeping things dubbed out and creepy in the distorted tones and textures that decorate the tune, but always pushing forwards. It's evocative techno for those who like it freaky, especially on the subtle whispers of "Track 3".

Passage 2561 (8:00)
Review: Spanish techno legend Eduardo de la Calle on John Talabot's Hivern Discs? Yes, he sure is but it somehow finds a fitting home here for this release. A side tracks "Format Times" and "Hope" might be a bit slower and deeper than what you'd usually expect from the Analog Solutions main man, but still have all his trademark hypnotic and droning qualities. On the flip he gets stuck into what he does best; cleverly sampled and restructured DJ tools such as "I Think I Love You" which is totally off the hook; do yourself a favour and listen to this absolute gem. Finally "Passage 2561" which references his love of Detroit so well on this sublime hi tech soul excursion. Brilliant.

Review: OOF! Boddika's Nonplus label just keeps on surprising us with each new release, and it's particularly interesting to hear the man's tastes and inspirations. This time it's Spain's Eduardo De La Calle of Analogue Solutions fame who gets called up to the UK's number one spot for future music, and he's brought four devilish floor cuts along with him, all properly calibrated with that unmistakable machine sound. The tracks are airy, freeform and less rigid compared to De La Calle's previous output and hence perfectly fitting for Al Green's catalogue. Our choice bit has to be "The King Pariksit" for its glitchy approach and broken beat structure. Heavy stuff, this.
