Timeless Journey EP
Timeless Journey EP (white vinyl 12")
Cat: PRRUKDUB 005. Rel: 12 Jan 23
Earwax - "Chapter" (5:02)
Simone Tavazzi - "Keid" (7:35)
Dave Simon - "Timeless Journey" (6:28)
Lenny San - "Otolith" (5:36)
Review: Planet Wax take us on another expertly curated techno trip on this latest Timeless Journey 12". The VA release kicks off with Earwax, aka breakthrough techno star Domenico Petrosino who has a refined, dubby take on modernist big room techno. Simone Tavazzi keeps the pressure up with nagging chord stabs set to stun and a juicy kick to sink your teeth into. 'Timeless Journey' itself comes from Dave Simon, who piles on warm swathes of synthesis without compromising on the impact of the rhythm section. Lenny San completes the picture with another deep n' dubbed-out workout, bringing a sense of consistency to this classy micro-collection.

Risk Management
Cat: PRRUKBLK 086. Rel: 08 Dec 23
Klint - "Falcon" (5:37)
Linear System & Kimahri - "Vessel" (5:44)
Rove Ranger - "Risk Management" (6:32)
Red Rooms - "Line Of Sight" (5:35)
Review: When it comes to keeping a cavernous warehouse rocking in all the right ways, you don't want to take any chances. Planet Rhythm releases are always a safe bet in that regard, but that's especially the case on this Risk Management 12". Amongst the dependable contenders bringing the high-pressure goods are Klint, who throws down some darting pulses and steely kicks on the tough but funky 'Falcon' and Rove Ranger who twists up nerve-shredding rhythmic interplay with a committed trajectory deep down the wormhole. There are psychoactive fireworks and relentless forward momentum spilling out of every inch of this 12", making it a no-brainer for anyone serious about keeping the dancefloor tuned up.

Fern Der Matrix EP
Fern Der Matrix EP (white vinyl 12")
Cat: PRRUKDUB 008. Rel: 04 May 23
Matrix (5:40)
Suggestion (5:36)
Acryl (5:37)
Antagonist (5:09)
Review: Planet Rhythm's approach to techno is pure and simple, but always effective. The label's sub-series hits an eight relate here with Lenny San serving up some monstrous and macho dub tackle across both sides of this new white 12". 'Matrix' has grainy, gritty chords and hurling great kicks that cannot fail to make a vast warehouse march as one. 'Suggestion' is another economical yet efficient dub techno banger, 'Acryl' has subtle distortion and rusted metal texture bring the forceful groove to life and 'Antagonist' shuts down in fierce fashion.

Terra EP
Terra EP (translucent red marbled vinyl 12")
Cat: PRRUKBLK 089. Rel: 30 Nov 23
Expansion (5:52)
Disruption (5:44)
Eruption (6:09)
Dispersion (5:21)
Review: Lenny San debuted on Planet Rhythm earlier this year with Fern Der Matrix EP, an impressive opening salvo of dub techno from a hitherto unknown name. Now Lenny is back with a follow up drop which leans into a thumping, crucially funky kind of peak time sound that holds true to the best kind of techno. 'Expansion' in particular is a bouncy workout of the highest calibre, while 'Disruption' is a straighter plug into the cavernous techno abyss. 'Eruption' brings that swing back in a subtle fashion, coming on like some of that early Skudge heat, while 'Dispersion' has a leaner sound palette and its own cheeky strut which offsets the steely sonics perfectly.

Dubwars Vol 2
Dubwars Vol 2 (translucent blue marbled vinyl 12")
Cat: DUBWARS 002. Rel: 07 Mar 24
OFF/GRID - "One Stab Ahead" (5:25)
Gunjack - "Memory Man" (6:15)
Antic Soul - "Mandalore" (4:35)
Lenny San - "Hedonist" (5:11)
Review: Planet Rhythm has been one of the premier hard techno labels for over 30 years now. Exploring some different avenues in the last decade, the label recently launched a series of heavy dub techno related records identified as DUBWARS. Volume two features four different artists this time with each submitting a new piece to the label focus. Fans of Basic Channel's 'Phylyps Trak' should quickly head to OFF/GRID - 'One Stab Ahead' for that main room filler. Gunjack's 'Memory Man' is another upbeat killer in its own right adding a bit of acid along with the melodic chord progression. For the second side, Antic Soul's 'Mandalore' stirs in a bit of house culture to the hard dub techno sound to great effect. Lastly, Lenny San bring's the party to their feet with 'Hedonist'. Heavy techno heads should really enjoy this packed 12"

Dub 3 EP
Dub 3 EP (white vinyl 12")
Cat: PRRUKDUB 003. Rel: 16 Sep 22
Erdem Yetim - "Perfect Silence" (7:00)
Simone Tavazzi - "Pyramid" (7:55)
Lenny San - "Das Ego" (5:25)
Dave Simon - "Dubby Stomper" (5:44)
Review: Planet Rhythm's third transmission is another various artists' affair that takes no prisoners. This is straight-ahead techno that is proud of its perfect planed linear loops and ability to get you in a mediative head space. Erdem Yetim kicks off with the seriously weighty 'Perfect Silence' and its panel-beaten loops. Simone Tavazzi's 'Pyramid' is another hefty kicker with icy hi hat ringlets and fleshy drums while 'Das Ego' is as good as reductive dub techno gets. Dave Simon hits the nail on the head with his 'Dubby Stomper.'
