Review: Always a good week when some new RAND Muzik drops. The Leipzig imprint's brand of understated grooves are on fine display once again on this various artists EP. On RM 12015, feel the low-slung and funky dub of A2's 'Open Your Mind' which they follow up with some moody computer funk on the next track 'Entity'. Over on the B side, Andy Panayi serves up some dusty 303 shenanigans on 'Acidbend' in the vein of classic Cabinet Records and closing it out is Stopouts with the subterranean breaks of 'Pass Go'.

Review: Hungarian-born, Dublin-based Phil Robertson has some pedigree but Arbilla is a new name he's operating under, and indeed there seems to be a slightly more musical, less relentless angle to his once defiantly minimal sound to go with the new moniker too. He provides three of the four tracks here, from the chunky and dramatic 'Stranger Things' and the breezy, spacious 'Fragrance' to the EP's glorious title track, with its Plaid-like syncopation and spiralling melodies. Mysterious techno 'supergroup' from Detroit, Scan 7 remix 'Virtual Reality' and they whip it into thunderclapping Underground Resistance shape. Greatness in evidence whichever way you turn.

Review: Some of Europe's finest purveyors of underground sounds come together on this fourth rase from the One Eye Witness label out of the Netherlands. Asphalt DJ kicks off and lays out a steamroller of a techno banger in 'Blades' which is pulsing, hard hitting but supple. RDS gets for a much more minimal and cosmic vibe on the tight and bouncy 'TH Only' then Ste Roberts brings some machismo and texture to 'Tune Pitch Decay' with its industrial tech aesthetic. Tammo Hesselink closes down the EP with the loose and bendy tones, scattered hits and late night minimal eeriness of 'Untitled 42.'

Review: Mighty European powerhouse Drumcode rolls out more of its techno tsunamis here with part one of the 12th volume of its A Sides collection. The boss himself, Adam Beyer, offers up one of the biggest cuts - 'Heading South' is a surging, straight-up techno weapon rippled with deft synths that ever forever on the move. Danny Avila's 'My Crew' (feat Flowdan) is built on a foundation of earth-shattering kicks and rolling bass with hellish stabs and vocal fragments making for an intense atmosphere, and Simina Grigoriu's 'Flight Tracker' is the sort of quick-moving techno sound to lock you into a trance. Add in LAAT's 'The Age Of Juno' (oi oi!) and you have a very useful and high impact EP of contemporary techno.

Cosmic legend Daniele Baldelli gets first with the driving Italo techno-disco of 'Promeni' while GNMR bangs the box with his leggy 909 drum pings and heady synth swirls on 'Modulo Rmx Downtempo V1.' On the flip, Tagliabue's 'Sogno Cosmico' is a deep and pulsing techno cut that roams at a slower tempo but is no less effective, then Simone Bauer's 'Gigantomachia' is a hyperactive and cutting edge rhythm piece that never sits still and is dark as you like in its ritualistic dance manoeuvres.

Review: Adam Beyer's notable techno label Drumcode seems to be as busy as ever of late. The label here rolls out a fourth part of its ongoing A Sides series, which is now up to volume 12. Though the Swede himself doesn't feature, some of his trusty sidemen do starting with Chris Avantgarde who brings big room, hard techno energy to 'The Last Time'. Bry Ortega keeps it just as intense with the machine-gun like synth fire of 'Discover 9', Massano brings some brighter synth loops to the stomping 'Betraya' and Spektre shut down with a mix of hardcore, trance and techno potency on 'Too Far Gone.' Some great DJ weaponry here, for sure.

Review: Those with a deep knowledge of electro and techno will be salivating at the prospect of More Than A Machine: Part 1, an EP that boasts cuts from such legends of the scene as Sterac Electronics, The Advent and Christian Smith. All deliver the goods, of course, as does rising star Client 03, whose EP-opening 'Regression Container' brilliantly flips between shimmering, deep space ambient and warming, tactile electro dreaminess. Those looking for more rugged and robust club fare should check Sterac Electronics 'Reinstated', with its' out-there lead lines and machine-gun bass, and the sleazy, up-tempo futurism of the Adveny and Zein Ferreira's 'Seven'. Christian Smith's deep, Kraftwerk-influenced 'Pressure Drop' rounds off a predictably strong EP.

Orbe's 'Thorax' then goes down a deep, dark late night techno tunnel in mind melting fashion and Sciahri's deft loops on 'No Fear' leave you feeling utterly in the moment. The hypnosis continues on the flip with darker drum rumbles from Farceb, constant suspense from 'Dario Duegra' and magnificently weighty minimalism from Uun.

This debut 12" is a fierce four-track with different arts taking care of each aural assault, starting with Elektrabel. 'Sernafet' is a manic mix of loopy snares and pulsing synths, metallic drum sounds and sweeping filters. SPIDJ brings a little more heavyweight techno funk to 'Fuerza Analogica' and Akenaton then gets raw, dark and dirty with the industrial menace of 'Cambio De Actitud.' The Zenobit3 shuts down with some spritely electro-tinged techno on 'Milikis Suffering'.

Review: A label's first release is always a big one which hints at what to expect in the long term and for that reason Introspective debuts with this new five track compilation. They say that "Instinctive Senses is a compilation focusing on precise and cutting sonorities." We say it is a fresh techno offering with plenty of interesting details. Grafin drops 'Vespers' which is tightly looped and quick as hell then SDB & B2 get more dark, heavy and gritty on the twisted 'Reunite.' The flip side kick off with more rough and ready hard edged techno from Specific Objects, sleek tribal loops from Versus on 'Those Things' and Nano Rinnegato gets paranoid and revs up the sirens on 'Ghetto K.'

Review: Adam Beyer's all conquering Drumcode label has kept big rooms banging for decades now. The latest artists to step up to tweak the hugely successful formula are Alex Lentini and Stomp Boxx. hey pair up on four fresh cuts that right from the off show some nice invention, with fizzing textures and wooden, block beats defining 'Solstice.' 'Split The Noise' is all about those big, panel beaten techno drum loops and 'Azimuth' surges forwards on waves of static electricity with some neat synth bubbles hidden within. 'Equimulate' closes out one of the better Drumcode EPs for some time.

Review: During the 1990s, there were few techno producers in Spain who were quite as prolific - or successful, for that matter - as Alex Martin. This superb double-pack delivers proof of the Barcelona-based artist's impressive early form by gathering together some of the best cuts he released between '94 and '98 under a variety of aliases, most notably Sideral and The Fat DB. Interestingly, there's plenty of variety to be found within the collected cuts, with sparkling sci-fi ambient ('Elipse') and deep, shuffling IDM (the acid-flecked brilliance of 'Mare Nostrum' and 'Butterly') nestling side by side with deep techno ('I Wanna Look at the Stars'), ragged futurist acid ('Incognita'), intergalactic techno ('Planetarium') and even cuts inspired by the soul, bass-weight and shuffle of the then emerging UK garage sound ('Can Make It').

Now he heads up a new VA 12" with 'Protoportal', a sinewy, seductive workout for those darker corners of the dance which originally came out in 2015 alongside tracks by Petter B. Petter B himself then steps up to rework 'Protoportal', twisting it into a thrumming, heads down weapon with an industrial tinge. VSK's 'Wrap' opens up the B side in a masterful display of contemporary Italian techno before the record rounds out with a collab from Scalameriya and Re:Axis, the knotty, dramatic 'Spectra'.

Review: Dino Sabatini returns to his own Outis Music label with another mesmerising selection of deep electronic sounds that seem to take plenty of influences from dub, downtempo, ambient and trip hop. The open has a creeping melodic sequence that is forever subtly shifting and brings a sense of eeriness to the smooth and unhurried dub rhythms below. 'Inenarrabilis' is then a double quick flurry of tiny synth loops and trippy effects then 'Plena Lunae' allows you to breathe once more and sink into a vast dub soundscape. 'Ego Experior' shuts down with some paranoid baselines bubbling up through a slowly churning groove. Some quality work here for sure.

Review: Diosis Decibel roll out another techno D&B fusion affair with the bossman Sam C once again at the controls. 'Under The Radar' sets the scene. A pummelling 165BPM 4x4 / breakbeat swagger, it punches holes in every wall of your house before it even comes out of the sleeve. These vibes persist across the 12" as Sam goes deep on the hypnotic 'Electric Flow' and euphoric on 'Eternal' while Italian-in-Romania Madmatik lays down some psy gold on 'Lacrima'. Exceptional.

Review: 1432 R US could as well be called Tech R US in a nod to the great toy shop as it is known as one of the key labels in the sub-genre. Sami is the artist behind this latest slab having previously appeared on the likes of Random Mind State and World Building. He gets mad busy on the opener, with wires synths, bleeping machines, smeared dub chords and jostling drums all layered up to competing rhythmic effect. 'Way Up' has a darker vibe with heavier drums and more edgy synths. 'Twin' is a percussive jumble that is loose but will lock you in with its freaky vocals and 'Deep Blue' is a stripped-back and more serene deep tech trip that encourages daydreaming.

Review: Up next for Adam Beyer's esteemed Drumcode imprint is Enrico Sangiuliano, a Milan based DJ/producer originally from Reggio Emilia who has been been active on the Italian scene since the early noughties, playing everywhere from clubs to illegal raves. His work of late has been released on sister label Truesoul, Alleanza, Gem Records, Octopus Recordings and Rhythm Converted. On "Moon Rocks", Sangiuliano provides a euphoric, hands in the air anthem with soaring synth leads and seriously humming Reese bassline over a high octane beat. Also on the A side is the mad diva vocal breakdown on "Ghettoblaster" which soon gives way to a dark and tunnelling epic. Finally on the flip, we have two versions of "Dutch Kiss" but for our money it's all about the sombre and emotive IDM vibe of the Inner remix.

His latest releases comes courtesy of local imprint Boiled Wonderland titled Intelligent Jump Rope Music, featuring four club focused tracks with a darker edge. Review: Sawf doesn't strike us as the type of producer who suffers fools gladly. Or indeed at all. The Greek music maker has a reputation for uncompromising and unforgiving electronic beats at the harsher end of the spectrum, one foot in industrial and another in techno, but with enough respect for both genres to make sure he's never made anything that feels as though it's destined for a TikTok video of 5,000 people pretending to find groove in sledgehammers. Kafas is exemplary of this, four tracks that sound as though the machines are rising up but in a way that's infinitely danceable, even if you don't normally gravitate towards dark, single strobe-lit rooms. From 'Bordo''s stepping, broken, minimalist workout, through to the stomp, clang, march and whips of 'Tsirita', this is heavy, heavy stuff but also very good indeed.

Review: Scanone is a producer who has proven his versatility and so it's no wonder he's been tapped up for some killer tunes by the Reposition label. This blistering electro EP features three originals that mix up industrial textures with caustic drums and star-gazing synth work. 'Vivre' is an eye-watering opener with sheet metal sounds and frosty pads, 'Kraft' is then a slower more pensive electro soundscape and 'Vertabre' has a truly brutal groove that will rattle the walls of any club space, as well as dislodge brain cells. Sync 24 rounds things out with a remix of the same cut that becomes a sonic blizzard.

Review: Max Scanu follows up his debut on Motibus Records with another thrilling EP of techno sound research that tackles the fascinating and controversial image of Elohim, a God, divinity and more. That opening tune is all wormhole drums, panning synths and futurist designs that aim to get you into a state of trance and keep you there as you roam through outer space. On the flip is 'Cherubini', another superbly deep and heady tune with cavernous and dub kicks and icy hi hats drawing you in ever further. Review: Deepchord label co-founder Mike Schommer is lesser known than his partner Rod Modell, but this new EP on Greyscale could well even things out a little. His third solo EP is a tender dub techno lullaby with distinctive vocals from Milly James. On "Come Home," the dubbed out chords ripple to infinity while James' angelic vocal lingers long in the air above, then "Breathe" slows things right down to a crawl for even deeper listening. "Cut You Down" is impressively cavernous then Deepchord remixes "Breathe" into a frosty and late night roller.

The Pole rework brings more crisp hits and distant eerie drones over a more pronounced rhythm but one that remains devilishly sparse. On the flip, 'Deceivers' has more hypotonic drive - a fleshy dub stepper to lock in any 'floor and then 'Believers' slows it down to a crawl once more. An essential dub EP that promises no represses.

Review: Trauma Collective go out all guns blazing with a fierce offering by ascendant Italian producer Sciahriar Tavakoli aka Sciahri (Sublunar Records/Unknot). The Trauma EP is at once an obviously loyal tribute to the imprint platforming him, while being a visceral soundtrack to the gradual setting in of early morning lights. Wasting no time in exercising his sonic assault, opening cut 'Hypnotism' will affect you much like its name suggests on this punishing, splintered- beat body basher, before pummelling you into submission on the strobed-out warehouse techno epic 'Plastic Rain'. He then ventures into the more abrasive shades of texture and gradient on the experimentally minded 'Ava' until getting off-the-grid once more with a descent even deeper into the void, on the knackered closer 'Dead Waves'.

Review: Mad About Records is back with another essential double dose of Latin funk with this limited edition 7" from Los Sonidos De F.M. and Sola. 'Tema De Los Adolesentes' kicks off on the flip with brilliantly lively samba keys and blasts of big horn energy next to more slinky and seductive lines. It's a true steamy dancer full of sex appeal while Sola take a different approach on the flip with 'Tabu.' This one is low slung and mischievous with its prickly rhythms and wet cymbals. The Spanish vocal is delivered with power and flair and backed by brooding harmonies that add extra weight.

Review: Seekers dropped the still superb album What He Does last year that laid out their cosmic house dub and techno visions in technicolour detail. That good work is continued here on their own self title label with the Ancient Lands EP which comes with marvellous artwork which, like the music, manages to be both ancient and ritualistic yet futuristic and exciting. Synth modulations ripple throughout the smooth techno surges of opener 'Metamorphic Frequencies' then 'Evanescens Punctum' is more zoned out and dubby. Review: Packed with percussive energy, thrusting basslines and mind-altering electronic motifs, this collaboration between long-serving Swede Patrick Seich and rising star Sandra Mosh deserves to be heard by far more than the Drumcode faithful. The pair set their stall out on EP opener 'Rhythmic Reflection', where whispered vocal snippets and psychedelic acid lines rise above breathless techno drums and a throbbing sequenced bassline, before opting for a dark, wayward and more intense techno sound on 'Synchrony'. Review: After launching last year via an arguably overlooked EP from Obsidian, Parallel Connection has made us wait a little while for the London label's second release. It comes courtesy of Sela, a 25-year-old French producer who apparently honed his soon to be trademark sound while living in the UK. There's much to enjoy across the four track missive, from the alien electronics, loose-limbed broken electro beats and chiming lead lines of '2020 Connection' and sub-heavy, acid-flecked stomp of 'Animal Kingdom', to the pitched-down electronica eccentricity of 'Really Get Fucked' and the psychedelic late-night tech-house hedonism of 'Mr Rabbit', which boasts bleeping melodies reminiscent of both mod-90s ambient techno and Yorkshire bleep and bass.

Review: Rawax first released John Selway's Real EP back in 2020. It has aged well and is still an in-demand 12" following the sell-out of its first run. As such the German label reissues it now just as it was the first time around. The title cut is a tribal and chunky house number with thumping drums offset but tender and barely-there whispers. 'Sliders' is a twitchy technoid stomper with a sleazy vibe and the urgent, hurried grooves continue through 'Wraecca', this time overlaid with swirling solar winds and busy synth modulations. Proper tackle.

Review: Well, it's been a long old while since we saw or heard the Semtek name. His last release on these pages was a full six years ago on his own always mighty fine Don't Be Afraid imprint with only one or two other EPs credited to him in the whole of the last decade. Rubadub have done well to coax him out of semi-retirement because these two tracks are hard: 'Denny Island' is a supple drum workout with darkness in the air but plenty of deep cosmic feels keeping things warm and welcoming. 'Catching Smoke' is another one defined by its rubbery busy bottom end and atmospheric synth work up top. Two heads-down back room beauties.

Review: The Planet Rhythm White series is all about serious dance floor business. It now welcomes back Senh for four cuts of well designed and stripped back but effective techno. Opener 'In Version' is a dubby one that leans into the wind as well crafted synth smears bring scale and mood. 'One Night In Athens' pairs things back even more to an icy dub, with perfectly frictionless drums, airy pads and echoing claps that are brilliantly wet. 'Rainbow Dub' is more spangled and high tempo in its onward journey though no less hypnotic and 'The Healer' closes on a classic Maurizio style vibe.

Review: Night Defined Recordings is an Austrian electronic music label based in Salzburg and founded by Juergen Vonbank. Its latest release comes from Serb aka Serban Ilicevici, a Romanian experimental producer based in Bucharest. We last heard his material back in 2017, when he released an EP full of seriously knackered techno on Cosmin TRG's Fizic imprint. An equally impressive collection of mainly leftfield cuts are featured on Night Recs 2: from the trippy subterranean shuffle of 'Broken', to the contemplative twilight funk of 'Cellar Meet' and then firing it up on the peak time techno fury of 'Random Trigger' and its majestic overtones throughout in the vein of Jeff Mills or Developer. Review: After making an impressive turn on Wisdom Teeth last year, Okand Konstnar returns to Kimochi Sound with a new grip of bubbling, left-of-centre techno grooves for those who like things supremely dubby and dipped in stardust. There are discernible grooves coursing throughout this latest Shielding record, but the beats play second fiddle to nimble melodic lines and atmospheric ripples. Even on 'Indoors', the more kinetic thrum of the beat feels closer to a tonal synth part than a beat. 'Vinter' meanwhile invites us into a beatless realm where the synthetic organisms in Shielding's biome have the run of the place. It's deep, immersive techno existing on the fringes, where the most interesting things tend to happen.

It is another fine exploration of his halftime drum & bass and rhythmic deep techno sound after previous releases on the likes of Samurai Music, Repertoire and Inperspective. 'Darkest Entities' is just that with its bump drum loops and moody late night pads. Review: Central Processing Unit welcomes back Silicon Scally for some reined and emotive robot music in the form of this Soft Robotics EP. This is of course an alias of Carl Finlow who is a master of making his machines sing with a sense of human realness. He pushes the boundaries once more here with four precision tooled cuts that come with plenty of vintage synth flourishes and thudding basslines. Review: Proper Techno Tunes does not muck about. This seventh sizzling cut is another head-banging EP of blistering and hardcore acid-laced jams to blow up any warehouse. 'Anomaly' is off balance and sleazy as well as being super-sized. 'Dica' bangs the box and frazzles your brain with its skewed 303s and 'Melancolie' is a menacing bit of deep space downbeat. That pause allows you to catch your breath before more big-time tech rollers on the flipside. This is an EP that should come with a health warning, frankly.

Review: Proper Techno Tunes sure does live up to its own billing. Dave Simon is at the helm for the label's eighth release and we can safely report that yes, these are four proper techno tunes. There are actually lashings of trance energy to the first cut 'Sonbone' which is fired out of a Hadron Collider and direct into your brain. 'Interweave' is an edgy one with synth loops making for manic mental vibes and 'Ravemithme' bring hard tendon energy with its distorted basslines and caustic synths. Last but not least is 'Imploding' which is all about flashy acid serrations and hard-assed drums under euphoric synth waves.
