Review: Credo boss Alex Bau returns with some deep dub techno excursions on the fittingly titled Echo Echo imprint - a new Echocord sublabel. With previous releases on top labels like CLR, Kombination Research and Cocoon - you can trust this veteran A.M. specialist. From the glacial and cavernous "Clouds" and the introspective dub of "Contour" nailing that Basic Channel vibe of old. On the flip, we get two versions of "Zenstory". The first (prelude) being a chilling ambient version while the second is a stripped back epic that builds full of tension and suspense throughout.

Techno
Review: The sound is a refreshing take on techno, with the tracks leaning heavily towards a modern minimal sound but with still enough in to pack a serious punch on the dancefloor. The first thing that strikes you is the level of production, with the A side being a driving pulsey techno floor burner with acidic riffs and a seriously groovy bassline and percussion pattern. This will surely be hammered by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola. The flip side is a deeper minimal take, with outstanding soundscapes and dubbed out basslines for the after hours set. Simply do not ignore this, it really works.

Review: Alex Bau is one of the best harder techno producers. His material over the last 5 years has been both energetic and groundbreaking. His material for Zenit has been particularly good and this is new release is no exception. Both tracks are different but equally effective. The A side is a driving hard edged techno cut with its pounding kick drum and sharp percussion. The track is punctuated with catchy synth riffs and stabs to great effect. The flip side is truly monstrous with its dark dirty warehouse feel and fat sub bass and string edits. Great, great record.

Review: Zenit has always been one of the front runners in terms of putting out quality harder-edged techno. Over the years there have been many groundbreaking releases from the likes of Marco Carola, Adam Beyer and Stanny Franssen. This release is again by one of the best harder techno producers of the moment - Alex Bau. This is a perfect fresh slice of how hard techno should sound. The A-side is a killer hard techno track with pulsing analogue stabs and superb crisp production. The flip side is a more stripped-down interpretation with a more minimal feel.
