Review: Theo Conrad (better known for his work under the Paxton Fettel alias) has long been one of Greta Cottage Workshop's most intriguing artists. His first full-length for the Devon imprint, Everything Stays The Same, inhibited similar territory to the classic deep house/downtempo/soul/jazz fusion of fellow West Country dwellers The Rurals. This follow-up is, if anything, even better. Described by the label as "instrumental contemporary jazz-funk", the album sees Conrad combining loose jazz breaks and jazzy synths with the kind of rich grooves, fireside textures and dreamy electronics more often found in vintage deep house productions. It's a formula that results in a string of brilliant tracks.

She's All Right (5:26)
She's All Right (Jimpster remix) (7:44)
Sundown, As The Beat Gently Skips (5:15)
Tripped Out (5:36)
Review: Danish deep house talent Paxton Fettel unleashes three disco-infused house cuts through disco specialists Apersonal Music. Fettel joins the family of the label's fine roster of retro-tone music makers backed up with a Jimpster remix. Always in the search of timeless music pieces the Spanish imprint sure found a fine exponent of their unique trippy melodic universe with Fettel's offer on this EP. "She's All Right", "Sundown, as the Beat Gently Skips" and "Tripped Out" make a solid statement of nu-disco editing in a house fashion, new to the artist but with a solid experience on the label's trajectory. To push the boundaries of Fettel's sound no other than high-fi music creator Jimpster to remix "She's All Right", opening a special space for the track on any dance floor filled with raving house lovers.

Will It Berghain?

Deep House
Claire Likes To Eurodance (6:02)
Track To The Future (5:32)
Buoyancy (5:28)
You're All My Dreams Are Made Of (5:51)
Review: Paxton Fettel has made a name for himself through the Greta Cottage Workshop label over the last few years, so we're always keeping our ears open when a new release by the producer drops onto our shelves. In case you hadn't gotten it, we're big fans of the GCW mandem. But, this time he's on the less expansive yet more incisive Kolour LTD label with the Will It Berghain EP, something of an inside joke within the house community. "Claire Likes To Eurodance" is gorgeous house tune that recalls Pepe Bradock material from the late 1990's, all filtered and groovy, while "Track To The Future" is deeper and more jazz-minded. On the B-side, "Buoyancy" contains a set of masterful disco sample strings and sublime stop-start rhythm, only for "You're All My Dreams Are Made Of" to deliver the FUNK. TIP!

Paxton Fettel & Takuya Matsumoto - "Afloat On A Sea Of Nothing" (5:21)
Solitary Returns (4:02)
Review: Paxton Fettel is a Danish producer whose been crafting a sound that falls somewhere between the drum machine and melodious sounds of Smallville's records and the convivial and classical tones of what can be heard in Giegling's music. Following 12"s for Greta Cottage Workshop and Barcelona's Apersonal Music, Paxton Fettel's debut album returns to the UK for a release on Matt Densham flourishing label. You'll find whimsical, summery house vibes on album opener "Amber Light Burns", while tones are slightly colder but equally heartfelt on "Afloat On A Sea Of Nothing", made with Iero artist Takuya Matsumoto. The mood gets deeper while offset by the slapped-out bass-funk of "Beyond The Sapphire Surf", and for a dalliance in instrumental hip hop tempos check out "Future Adventures".

Paxton Fettel - "I'd Like To Know You Better" (5:50)
Kristy Harper - "Uncle Jungle" (5:27)
Manakinz - "Robopubez (Rust In Peace)" (6:59)
Maxime Alexander - "BSA Freestyle #1" (feat $hakes) (5:01)
Review: London-based Ben Gomori is back with the fourth installment of "Dialogues" on his Monologues imprint. It's another various artists affair featuring four choice cuts that pursue all things deep, emotive and sensual. Copenhagen's Paxton Fettel kicks off proceedings with some boompty and disco-fied vocal business on the loopy "I'd Like To Know You Better", followed by the smoky late night groove by Kristy Harper's "Uncle Jungle" featuring some infectious roaring diva vocals. On the flip, go deeper into the night on the sweltering and hypnotic vibes of Manakinz' "Robopubez (Rust In Peace)" where Sub Club resident Harri collaborate with his bud Max, and finally Maxime Alexander reps South Africa on the sultry mood music of "BSA Freestyle #1" with $hakes on the mic.

Kobenhavn: London EP
Cat: PLUMAGE 04. Rel: 23 Sep 15

Deep House
Paxton Fettel - "Ambling Waves In Eternity" (5:26)
Paxton Fettel - "Marble Street" (5:37)
Norm De Plume - "Rhythm & Sound" (7:33)
Norm De Plume - "Step In Time" (8:34)
Review: In a bid to expand the horizons of his Plumage label, Norm De Plume has begun recruiting like-minded producers. For this split EP, he's recruited Greta Cottage Workshop regular Paxton Fettel. The Copenhagen-based producer delivers some deceptively atmospheric goodness on the A, first travelling into deep space ambient house territory with the shuffling "Ambling Waves In Eternity", before effortlessly joining the dots between sultry jazz-funk and languid deep house on "Marble Street". As for Norm De Plume, he delivers a wonderfully rich and loose chunk of piano-laden jazz-house ("Rhythm & Sound"), before enhancing his deep disco-house credentials with the loopy "Step In Time".
