Gorilla EP
Cat: PARTOUT 1301. Rel: 11 Aug 21

Electro
Gorilla (7:35)
Halloweeen Track (6:08)
Critical Cure (5:58)
Polykboom (7:23)
Review: Following up some spacey wares by the likes of UhU, Corp and Do Or Die, Berlin-based Saverio Celestri is up next on French label Partout. 'Gorilla' starts out with chiming and hypnotic melodies reminiscent of Jeff Mills before unleashing an acid trance inspired fury, then bringing the tempo down for the trippy rave slow burner 'Halloweeen Track' which takes you into mental overdrive. Over on the flip, Celestri summons you aboard the acid express on the frantic energy of 'Critical Cure' while 'Polykboom' sounds like a cross between Lil Louis and early Underground Resistance - give it a listen and you'll hear what we mean.

Forest Virus EP
Cat: OOT 03. Rel: 30 Dec 20

Electro
Forest Virus (6:53)
Bollywood (7:16)
Marvin's Track (5:24)
Celestial Atmosphere (6:39)
Review: Just when you thought the pandemic couldn't get more complicated, along comes Saverio Celestri with a whole new variant. Welcome 'Forest Virus', even more contagious and infectious than Corona but, thankfully, about 10,000,000 times more enjoyable. Four tracks deep, each one promises total respite and escapism from the current strange reality; 'Forest Virus' doffs its cap to Detroit with its synth simplicity and relentless drive, 'Bollywood' takes us to the starts with maximal effect; stomping kicks, swampy pads and Orbital-style waves of synths, 'Marvin's Track' is an emotional bulldozer that gets more and more intense as more instruments are introduced mid-way before 'Celestial Atmosphere' closes with a sense of church-like scale and sobriety while remaining raw and about as clean as the discarded facemasks you see in many gutters right now.

Deep House
Saverio Celestri - "Mental Box" (7:08)
Cedric & Felix - "SDF" (6:37)
100 Hz - "MASS" (6:15)
Convergence Club - "Window Shopping" (5:34)
Review: Italian label Imprints are back with another various artists EP showcasing some of the finest new talents emerging in minimal house. Starting out with fellow Italian in Berlin, the Libertine/Slow Life affiliated Saverio Celestri with the bouncy and bumping "Mental Box" which powers away with some subtle electro flourishes in the mix. Frankfurt up and comers Cedric Dekowski & Felix Reifenberg deliver more signature micro house on the quirky and glitched out "SDF". On the flip we've got more comeback material by UK legend Lee Renacre aka 100 Hz with his 303 driven electro jam "MASS" and then another unclassic from short lived German duo Convergence Club with the absolutely lush deep house of "Window Shopping".

Techno
Saverio Celestri - "Ethereal" (6:38)
Jacopo - "Aesthetic" (6:15)
Otis - "Axes Of Continuity" (6:16)
Fede Lijt - "Deflexion" (6:18)
Review: A dream team line up for this four way that heads off in various directions across detailed and trippy techno landscapes. Those who have been following these heads will understand what we mean- with the quartet all beginning to rise to prominence now and finally claiming the kind of respect they deserve. Saverio Celestri brings 'Ethereal', packed with direct cymbal work, lilting reversed organs creating leftfield-but-dancefloor business with plenty of usability. Midgar label manager Jacopo, toughest from the names here, takes us down an arpeggiated acid route, never quite unleashing but acting as precursor to whatever bangs come next. Otis' 'Axes of Continuity' has a simple three-four note melody mirrored by bumbling bass, and should sound ideal at anything with a free party vibe. Finally, Fede Lijt's 'Deflexion' goes deepest, twinkling chimes, submerged lows, plenty of snares.

Celestial Consequence
Celestial Consequence (heavyweight vinyl 12" + sticker)
Cat: SL 016. Rel: 10 Jul 18

Minimal House/Tech House
Consequence (6:53)
The Wheel (6:07)
This Is The Universe (7:04)
Celestial (6:42)
Review: Like many of Saverio Celestri's releases, this return to regular home Slow Life is a collaborative affair, with production duties shared by debutant Late Consequence (in reality an experienced Italian producer operating under a new alias). The duo kicks things off with the spacey bounce of "Consequence", where computer beeps and bleeps rise above heavy analogue bass, locked-in techno drums and flotation tank chords, before offering a subtle nod towards early UK bleep techno on sub-bass heavy workout "The Wheel". Turn to the flip for some deeper, purist tech-house vibes (the deep house influenced warmth of "This Is The Universe") and the sparkling, head-in-the-clouds tech-funk of "Celestial".

Kodoku
Kodoku (smoked vinyl 12")
Cat: LLC 06. Rel: 30 Nov 22

Techno
Saverio Celestri - "Sundays" (4:41)
Delta - "Crachats De Lune" (6:57)
Prince De Takicardie - "Jam'on'acid" (House mix) (7:49)
Tundramane - "Brick To The Face" (feat Koste) (1:56)
Solar Alliance - "Quest For Kiba" (7:55)
Shampoo - "Track 6" (8:10)
Review: Qir's Lowlife Cartel label has been offering up sinuous strains of techno and electro since 2017, focusing on VA releases to keep the scope of the label broad, and preferring to focus on loose themes for each record. This time around, Kodoku opens up with Saverio Celestri's bubbling acid-electro before Delta and Prince De Takicardie plunge into wondrous sci-fi excursions for those who like their techno springy, supple and downright freaky. There's some distinctly different sounds on the B-side, as Koste spits and snarls over 'Brick To The Face' by Tundramane. Solar Alliance take things in a more cosmic, trance-minded direction, and Shampoo finish proceedings off with a curious slice of mournful breakbeat synth pop, if you can imagine such a combo.

Corp - "Celestial Bells" (5:40)
Corp - "Trancemotions" (5:31)
Saverio Celestri - "Virtual Sex" (5:19)
Saverio Celestri - "Self Control" (7:28)
Review: For their second missive, freshly minted Ukranian label Hypnohouse has chosen to showcase cuts from two hugely experienced producers: Madrid-based Unusual Systems founder Corp and sometime Slow Life regular Saverio Celestri. The former handles side A, first fusing chiming lead lines and formidably filthy acid bass on retro-futurist jacker 'Celestial Bells', before reaching for the strobes on the buzzing, trippy and intoxicating late night throb of 'Trancemotions'. Celestri meanwhile invites us to indulge in a little sweaty 'Virtual Sex' on a clanking chunk of cold wave/techno fusion, before offering up a blistering blend of high-octane drums, alien-sounding chords, bleeping electronics and buzzing bass ('Self Control').

Minimal House/Tech House
Hypnofriends - "Frobiq" (5:31)
Saverio Celestri - "Planet Terror" (6:13)
Innershades - "The Reason" (5:00)
Adria & Pau Roses - "Combat Mortal" (6:01)
Vince Void - "Rush" (6:50)
Review: Pau Roses and Adria launched Cupula last year with a collaborative 12" which showcased their particular approach to the tech house scene, where acidic and rave influences can slip into sleek beat structures to make for dancefloor magic. That theme continues on this split release, which invites the likes of Hypnofriends, Saverio Celestri and Innershades to lay down their own machine-powered jams for the freakier kind of floor. If you want to have a lot of fun and grease the crowd up good and proper, these tracks have got you covered.

Interphase Issues (heavyweight vinyl 12")
Cat: SL 004. Rel: 26 Nov 15

Deep House
Aftertouch (7:37)
Karmikstrikes (6:35)
Hypnosphere (7:14)
Interphase Issues (6:11)
Review: Berlin's Slow Life continues its impressive run of form, and drops yet another EP by the prodigious Sergio Moreira, except that this time the Spanish producer is joined by Italy's Saverio Celestri across four tough and twisted house cuts. "Aftertouch" is a broken, rolling bundle of drums and starry pads, whereas "Karmikstrikes" is straighter in its beat structure but nonetheless spaced-out in terms of its sonics. On the B-side, "Hypnosphere" shoots bursts of subtle 303 through its wormhole of a groove, and "Interphase Issues" unleashes a heavier, more aggressive techno tone through its stuttering percussion rattle. Choice cuts.

Libertine 04

Minimal House/Tech House
Onur Ozer - "Hcore" (6:57)
Etienne - "Ruhso" (6:00)
Yoshi & Saverio Celestri - "Revolt" (6:53)
Review: Libertine Records loves a good collaboration. All of the label's releases to date have either been multi-artist affairs, or contained tracks that bring together a numerous members of their production roster. They've opted to follow the same blueprint on Libertine 004. They begin with the weirdo-Italo/lo-fi EBM/dusty analogue techno thrust of Onur's "Hcore", before allowing Etienne the chance to combine speaker-shaking bass, bleep style electronics and hustling house rhythms on the impressive "Ruhso". Finally, regular collaborators Yoshi and Saverio Celestri join forces once more on "Revolt", a suitably rough-and-ready fusion of bustling drum machine hits, winding synth melodies and semi-discordant electronic noises.

The Shaver Mystery
Cat: AMZS 001.

Deep House
Riccardo - "Lowearth"
Saverio Celestri - "As A Bat"
Flippo Bena - "Artic Jam"
Markus Sommer - "Run N Hid"
Review: The first adventure from The Amazing Stories label is a deep house "whodunit" with four suspects. The first to be questioned by the Spanish imprint's dancefloor investigators is Riccardo, who answers with a swirling chunk of horror-flecked bleep-house. Severio Celestri makes a good case in his own defense via the ghostly chords, Motor City electronics and warm sub-bass of "As A Bat", while Flippo Benna delivers a watertight alibi in the shape of straight-to-tape broken house jam "Artic Jam"- a bass-heavy, electro-tinged number that's pleasingly bouncy. With Markus Sommer refusing to buckle under interrogation - the undulating, deep house funk of spacey shuffler "Run N Hid" is extremely convincing - The Shaver Mystery may go unsolved.

Yoshi & Saverio Celestri - "No Time For School" (7:22)
Saverio Celestri - "Dangerous" (5:32)
Yoshi - "Not An Ordinary Place" (6:37)
SBRI - "The Other Side" (5:17)
Review: Although this is credited as being Libertine's first official release, the label has already put out one record, a sort of white label to introduce the crew and the sound. Yoshi, Saverio Celestri and SBRi all featured on number 00, and the boys are back to inaugurate the label properly four back-to-basics house/techno hybrids. Yoshi and Celestri team up for the opener "No Time For School", a lo-fi, head-strong house bomb with a masterfully swelling baseline, while Celeste goes solo on the murky and mystical cut that is "Dangerous". On the flipside, Yoshi is back with the grainy pseudo electro of "Not An Ordinary Place" - perhaps the EP's finest moment - and SBRi drops some squelching truth all over the techno of "The Other Side". All in all, a fine EP, and a warmly recommended new addition to the contemporary house game.
