Forgotten Moments
Forgotten Moments (140 gram vinyl 12")
Cat: CRTL 013. Rel: 05 Jul 21

Techno
Dark & Light (5:36)
ROR2 - Spice (5:19)
The Gateway (5:37)
Splinter (4:59)
Forgotten Moments (4:10)
Review: Scott Hallam has been an acid devotee since the early days, and he's largely put out his music on his own Axia label. While most of that is digital-only, now Cartulis have picked up on the considerable talents of this hardware lifer and presented five of his finest works on wax. The vibe veers tremendously, touching on dark and sinewy dungeon acid, boxy electro workouts, strangely psychedelic hardcore and plenty more besides. Hallam's style feels betrothed to the outboard approach - it's all synths and drum machines to these ears, and its immediacy is a big part of the charm. That, and the playful personality he works into those wigged out acid lines and pinging FX.

Fizmo (12")
Cat: CRTL 017. Rel: 27 Jun 25

Techno
Fizmo
Aside
Dirty
Review: Uruguayan producer Z@p returns to Cartulis with another floor-ready set that shows why he remains one of the sharpest in the game. On 'Fizmo', he shapes liquid funk and break-flecked techno into something that feels at once unhinged and ultra-preciseipsychedelic without drifting into any excess. The title track opens the A-side with tightly coiled energy and modular stabs, hinting at old-school rave but drenched in headsy nuance. Flip over for 'Aside', a standout roller with slippery rhythm edits and finely sculpted bass weight, while 'Dirty' dials up the tension with ghostly pads and metallic percussion. Sleek, inventive, and rigorously effectiveiZ@p once again proves he's in a league of his own.
